Larry W. Jimison, 66, died Oct. 21 at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. Born Oct. 27, 1944 in Stafford, he was the son of Howard David and Verda Marie (Staley) Jimison. On Nov. 24, 1964, he married Sue Curtis in Ellsworth. A resident of Great Bend for 47 years, coming from Lorraine, he was the Water Superintendent for the city of Great Bend, working at the water department for 47 years.
OTIS - Sharon Royer, 52, died Dec. 19 in Rush County. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Olmitz. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a wake starting at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. HOISINGTON - Don L. Clutter, 65, died Dec. 17 at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. Born Feb. 22, 1946, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., he was the son of Elmer and Elsie Ruth (Sellers) Clutter. On June 14, 1986, he married Angie Kaiser in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, he was a retired maintenance employee for Natural Gas Pipeline in Albert. He served as a Drill Sergeant in the Army National Guard. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and his dog Ruger, enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles.
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Louis J. Miller, 96, Bloomington, Ill., died on Dec. 8 at Martin Health Care Center in Bloomington, Ill. Born Aug. 26, 1915, in Albert, he was the son of Conrad and Anna Reints Miller. On July 29, 1940, he married Lorene K. Tesch in St. Louis, Mo., and she survives. Louis was a master carpenter and craftsman. He owned Miller Cabinet Shop for 35 years, retiring at age 72.
PAMPA, Texas - Juanita Marie Woydziak Brower died Dec. 16 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Mrs. Brower was born Sept. 1, 1936, in Hoisington, to Arsenius and Mathilda Woydziak. She attended St. Joseph's elementary school in Beaver. Her freshman and sophomore years she attended Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita, and graduated high school in Hoisington in 1954. She married Bobby Lindsey Brower on Jan. 17, 1955 in Beaver. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2002 after 48 years of marriage. Matthew A. "Matt" Smolik, 90, passed away on Sept. 16, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Carolyn A. Sheets, 79, died Sept. 15 at her home in Great Bend. Born Oct. 3, 1934, in rural Rose Hill, she was the daughter of Earl and Esther (Hall) Showalter. She married Gerald Skeels. On Nov. 9, 1979, she married Donald Eugene "Gene" Sheets in Dighton. He died July 25, 2012. A Great Bend resident since 1963, she was an office manager for Great Bend Appliance for 13 years and was a former secretary at Security State Bank and First National Bank. She enjoyed her family and friends and playing golf.
Peggy Lynn Crowe, 58, died Sept. 16 at her home in Great Bend. Born May 4, 1956, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Johnnie Douglas and Marie (Griffith) Crowe. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was an occupational therapist at Clara Barton Hospital.
Lester Leo Achatz, 65, died Sept. 14 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born Oct. 21, 1948, in Great Bend, he was the son of Milton and Bertha (Birzer) Achatz. On Dec. 27, 2011, he married Kimm M. Lewis in Great Bend. He grew up in Great Bend and lived in Virginia before moving back to Great Bend. He was employed by H-2 Trucking.
ALBERT - Virginia Marie (Amerine) Bird, 91, gently journeyed from this world to a new beginning on Sept. 14th. Though she was a life-long resident of Barton County, she spent the final years of her life with her daughter providing precious companionship in Wichita and then Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Ellsworth. HUTCHINSON - Aubrey Linus Schartz, 82, died Sept. 14, at his home in Hutchinson. Born Aug. 20, 1932, in rural Ellinwood, he was the son of Edward and Frances Schartz. On Oct. 16, 1951, he married Bonnie Lou Harbaugh in Ellinwood. He retired from Marmie's Motors in Great Bend and moved to Hutchinson.
John Russell Branine, 65, passed away Sept. 12 at the Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1949, the son of Ralph Sweet and Helen Helms Branine. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.
