LA CROSSE - Lorene E. Parker, 85, La Crosse, died Thursday, July 11, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse. Born Oct. 4, 1927, in rural Albert, she was the daughter of Fred J. and Anna M. (Meier) Brack . She was a lifelong resident of Rush County. A 1945 graduate of La Crosse High School, she was a legal secretary before her retirement. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, WELCA, and was a Girl Scout leader, all of La Crosse. She served as the Rush County Sheriff from 1958 to 1960.
LARNED – Michael P. Bartz, 45, died July 10 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born July 10, 1968, in Columbus, Neb., he was the son of Melvin and Carol Walsh Bartz. On April 20, 1991, he married Sandra Ashley in Larned. She survives. He was the owner of Bartz Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning.
HOISINGTON - George Roger Willenberg, 37, died July 7 at Wilson Lake in Russell County. Born Dec. 27, 1975 in Great Bend, he was the son of Wayne and Deloris (Edmisten) Willenberg. He grew up on a farm north of Claflin and attended schools there. George worked in the oil field for several companies and was a general handyman.
BETHANY, OKLA. - Ashley Marie Welcher "Skeet" was born July 11, 1995 and passed away July 6, at the young age of 17 in an automobile accident. Ashley was known for her beautiful smile and the love and pride she had for her daughter Bella.
HAYS- Scotty Leroy Legere, 74, died June 30, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1938 to Louis and Leta (Beghtol) Legere in Hill City, Kan. In lieu of funeral services, a "celebraton of life" gathering will be at a later date.
Frances J. Staab, 84, died July 6, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on Aug. 28, 1928 in Russell, she was the daughter of George J. and Olive Grace (Francis) Ehrlich. She grew up in Russell, where she graduated from Russell High School. On Nov. 5, 1946 she was united in marriage to Edwin A. Staab in Russell. Over the years Frances worked as a dispatcher for the Great Bend Police Department, a desk clerk at the Best Western Angus Inn, and central supply at Central Kansas Medical Center, all in Great Bend, and as a greeter at Walmart ...
