BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - Armella Ann Edwards, 85, died Oct. 10 at Franciscan Villa of Broken Arrow in Broken Arrow, Okla. She was born June 17, 1925, on the Dreiling farm northwest of Hays, the youngest of 10 children. Her parents were Aloise and Anna (Herl) Dreiling. She married James Lawrence Edwards Sr. on May 5, 1945, at Norfolk, Va. He died Nov. 9, 1986. She was employed by American Parts in Great Bend and was also a homemaker and caretaker of her husband.
CLAFLIN - Larry Gene Garrett, 60, died Oct. 7 at his home in Claflin. He was born July 25, 1950, at Forrest City, Ark., the son of Carlton Daniel and Luna Winona (Beard) Garrett. He married June Agnes Arends on Feb. 27, 1975, at Great Bend. A Claflin resident since 1974, coming from Schell City, Mo., he was a self-employed truck driver.

Born October 7, 1954 in Denver, Colo., he was the son of Robert E. and Evelyn (Collins) Smith. On Jan. 16, 1998 he married Karen King in Springfield, Mo. Marty moved to Hoisington in 2008 coming from Lovington, New Mexico. He served his country in the United States Army and worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator until he was disabled.
