Born Dec. 16, 1931, in Strong City, as Kathryn Haefling, Sister Markita was the daughter of the late Marion and Mary Anne Beumer Haefling. She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community in Great Bend on Sept. 18, 1949, and pronounced her first vows on June 7, 1952. She celebrated fifty years of religious profession in 2002. LARNED – Carl Dean Immenschuh, 70, died Oct. 22, 2011 at Promise Regional Hospital, in Hutchinson, of asbestos related lung cancer. Born April 18, 1941, at the family home in Fellsburg, he was the son of Edward and Bernice Ingraham Immenschuh. He attended the University of California-Riverside. On June 3, 1961, he married Vallene Oetken at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert. She survives. Carl and Vallene started Pelican Photographics, The Pelican Press and the Kinsley Graphic.

She was raised on the family farm northwest of Pawnee Rock, and attended Pawnee Rock Schools, graduating in 1970. Rhonda lived in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. for the past 15 years and was owner/operator of Vintage Vaults Wine Storage, a company she created and incorporated with her interior decorating talents. Ethel Marie Dyer, 96, of Great Bend, passed away on Thursday morning, Oct. 20, at the Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. Ethel was born on Jan. 5, 1915 in Russell, to Emanuel and Elizabeth Milberger. She was a graduate of Russell High School. She was the clerk of the District Court for Barton County for many years, and later worked for Morrison Insurance Agency in Great Bend. She loved animals, particularly dogs.
David Michael "Mike" Johnson, 72, died Oct. 30 at Almost Home Inc., Great Bend. He was born Nov. 25, 1941, at Denison, Texas, the son of Doug and Woodie (Pritchard) Johnson. He married Peggy Temple April 28, 1962, at Borger, Texas. He founded M and M Equipment in 1975, retiring in December 2012.
PAWNEE ROCK - Ladine Peterson, 95, passed away Oct. 29 at the Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born April 2, 1919, in Bison, she was the daughter of Everett and Frances Bitter Edwards. On April 3, 1941, she married Loraine Edwin Peterson in Bison. He passed away Jan. 20, 1995. A lifetime area resident of Rush and Pawnee County, she began her career as a teacher and retired from the ASCS office in Larned. She raised Persian cats and took them to many shows, and she also loved flowers.

HOISINGTON - Anna Rose Urban, 84, died Oct. 28, at Russell Regional Hospital. Born July 3, 1930, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Hoffman) Tinkel. On May 2, 1951, she married Julius J. Urban in Dubuque. He died on Oct. 27, 2003. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was the janitorial manage at the Hoisington Veterinary Hospital for many years.

COLLINSVILLE, Okla. - Wilthamina (Wilma) Simpson Nagel, resident of Collinsville, passed from this life on Oct. 25, at the age of 85 years. Wilma was born April 2, 1929, in Edinburgh, Scotland, to William and Davina (Taylor) Thomson. She was raised in Scotland, graduating high school there.
