LARNED - Roy "Bill" Connelly, 69, died June 16 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born Sept. 17, 1941, in Hutchinson, he was the son of Isom Roy and Elizabeth Williams Connelly. On Feb. 14, 1964, he married Dianne Sue Davis at Atwood. A longtime area resident, he was a printer for 25 years then a Larned Juvenile Justice Authority for 21 years at the Larned State Hospital.
RICHMOND, Texas - Joseph "Joe" Alan Strobel died June 14 in Richmond Texas, under Altus Harbor Hospice Care at the age of 71. He was born March 9, 1940, in Great Bend. He married Dot Shaner on June 3, 1961, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend. In 1971 Joe graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas. His career started in Lawrence and then led him to Texas, Maryland and Saudi Arabia. His last job before his stroke was with FEMA. He truly loved his job.
ZOOK - Donna Cauble, 74, died June 16 at her home. Born June 25, 1936, in Garden City, she was the daughter of Albert and Stella McFessell Strader. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and retired interior decorator. On Nov. 22, 1953, she married Ronald Cauble in Larned. He survives.
NEWTON - Paul F. Kelly, 86, died June 15 at his Newton residence. He was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Akron, Ohio, to Lawrence and Odilia (Seegmueller) Kelly. On Dec. 23, 1989, he married Theresa Gerritzen in St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was a 1959 graduate of the University of Kansas. On June 28, 1959 she married William T. King in Lawrence. She was a home economics and mathematics teacher at Argentine High School in the Kansas City school system. On Aug. 30, 1950, he married Beth Stewart in Healy. He attended grades 1 through 5 in Kansas and 6 through 11 in California and then moved to Healy and graduated with the Class of 1944. LARNED - Glenn Scott Presley, 66, died Sept. 21, at Mayo's St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Min. Born Feb. 8, 1948, in Wichita, he was the son of Glenn and Ruby Elzey Presley. On Dec. 31, 1967, he married Linda Walker in Marquette. She survives. After graduating from McPherson College, he moved to Larned to begin teaching high school industrial arts classes. He managed the Larned Swimming Pool for 25 years. He was a loving husband, a caring father, and a very proud grandpa.
Paul J. Heueisen, 84, former longtime Great Bend resident, passed away on Sept. 19, at Protection Valley Manor in Protection. Born on May 23, 1930, in Lancaster, Calif., he was the son of Louis Steven and Margaret Mary (Murray) Heueisen. In 1936, he moved to Great Bend with his family, and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1945. He worked as a custodian for various businesses in the Great Bend area. He enjoyed reading.

SALINA - David C. Gardiner, 54, died Sept. 20. Born Jan. 11, 1960, in Larned, he was the son of Gordon A. and Mary Anne (McConahay) Gardiner. In 1978, he graduated from Salina High School South. He joined the Army after he graduated from high school and was stationed in Europe for many years as a food inspector for the Army. He graduated from K-State with a degree in food science. He worked at the Great Bend Packing plant in Great Bend before retiring in Salina.
