COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - John Donovan Neeland died at his home in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Jan. 12. The son of Donovan and Mary Agnes "Mamie" (Risse) Neeland, he was born in Great Bend on Nov. 6, 1930. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1949 and attended Kansas State University. On Jan. 31, 1953, he married Elaine Habiger. They later divorced. He then married Imogene Wilson. She died on Jan. 3, 1994. He married Emma Greenlee on May 31, 1995, in Colorado Springs. ARLINGTON - Melvin, D. Thompson, 85, died Jan. 13, 2012 at his home in Arlington. Born March 30, 1926 in Larned, he was the son of Edward A. and Catherine Evers Thompson. He lived in Arlington since 1984 and is formerly of Larned. He is a retired owner/operator truck driver.
WASHINGTON, MO. - Karolyn Kaye Coleman, 72, of Washington, Mo., formerly of Ellis, passed away in the loving arms of God, on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Cedarcrest Manor Nursing Home in Washington, Mo. Born on Aug. 16, 1939, in Emmeram, she was the daughter of Delbert and Beulah (Springfield) Witt. On July 25, 1955 she married Arthur Paul Coleman, in Great Bend. She was a homemaker and a health care provider.
HAYS -Hubert Rajewski, 94, of Hays, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5 at the Great Bend Health and Rehab Center in Great Bend, Kansas. He was born April 4, 1917 in Vincent, Kansas to Frank and Mary (Wittman) Rajewski. He married Emma Klaus in 1939. He had worked in maintenance and was a farmer.
SALINA - Gary D. Apel, 58, of Salina, died Jan. 10. Born Jan. 23, 1953, in Sterling, he was the son of Norman and Marilyn (Eves) Apel. Gary was a welder and fabricator for the Blue Goose Company of Great Bend and Tony's of Salina. He was also a goat rancher at the Apel Farm.
DES MOINES, Iowa - Keith A. Peters, 65, died Jan.10 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Born Jan. 3, 1947, he was the son of Tillman and Beulah Christine Barr Peters in Ransom. He was a 1965 graduate of Utica High School and attended Greer Automotive Technical School. A lifetime farmer and avid gardener, he retired from the United States Postal Service.
LA CROSSE - Gerald R. "Jerry" Kline, 80, died Jan. 12 at Hays Medical Center in Hays He was born Nov. 12, 1931, at LaCrosse, to Edmond and Charlet (Schaffer) Kline. He married Mary Anne (Taylor) on April 24, 1952, at LaCrosse. He was raised in La Crosse, and owned Jerry's Tavern, Kline's Radiator Repair, from 1953 to 1965, and the Wishbone Café, all in LaCrosse, from 1965 to 1969. A Great Bend resident since 1999, coming from South Fork, Colo., and Macksville, she worked at the Larned Greenhouse and was a clerk for Food 4 Less and Dillon's in Great Bend.

Born on March 5, 1931, at Alexander, she was the daughter of Walter H. and Minnie (Krug) Boese. In 1947, she graduated from Alexander High School and worked for the former Parsons-Williams Funeral Home (now Prairie Rose Funeral Home) in Anthony for 15 years. Francisco DeJesus Adame, 77, passed away on June 27, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on Aug. 17, 1937, at Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, he was the son of Francisco Adame Flores and Rosalia Rey. Francisco was united in marriage to Librada Tavarez Carrasco on May 25, 1962, at Rancho El Tubo Manuel Benavidez, Mexico. He farmed for much of his life, and enjoyed raising cattle. ELLINWOOD - Reinder Carl Ringwald, 92, died on June 22, 2015, in Great Bend. Born June 19, 1923, in rural Rice County he was the son of Reinder W. and Arrendiena (Soeken) Ringwald. On May 18, 1952, he married Edna Claudine Ewalt in Great Bend. She survives. A lifetime resident of rural Rice County and Ellinwood, he was a farmer/stockman until his retirement in 2010.
Ellen Louise Berry, 82, passed away June 16, 2015, at Hays Medical Center. Born April 30, 1933, in Kinsley, she was the daughter of Leslie Clarence and Martha (Amrine) Mack. On Jan. 6, 1951, she married Robert Clyde Berry in Larned. She was a Licensed Mental Health Technician retiring after 32 years at Larned State Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and other handmade crafts. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading all types of books including mysteries, time travel, historical and romance novels.
HUGOTON - Dolores Nadine (George) Foltz, 86, died on June 19, 2015, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton. Born Dec. 13, 1928, in Anthony, she was the daughter of Audra and Bernice (Feely) George. On June 22, 1947, she married Jack H. Foltz in Anthony at the First Congressional Church. She was a resident of Great Bend for 65 years. She loved her children and grandchildren, cooking, and gardening. She loved helping family and friends, she enjoyed gardening.

She married Steve Barger Nov. 21, 1992, at Great Bend. A Great Bend resident since 1979, coming from Salina, she was a homemaker and foster mother.
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - David Wayne Bowman, 55, died June 24, 2015, at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, Missouri. He was born Oct. 13, 1959, at Larned, to Howard and Carole (Unruh) Bowman. He was a 1977 graduate of Macksville High School and graduated from Barton County Community College, Emporia State University and the University of Kansas.
