TIMKEN - Eldora C. Conard, 88, died May 15 at the Rush county Memorial Hospital in LaCrosse. Born March 14, 1923 in rural Rush Center, she was the daughter of Charles L. and Mary C. (Johnson) Bortz. In 1940, she graduated from LaCrosse High School. She attended Fort Hays Kansas State College in Hays and received her Teaching Certificate in 1941. On Nov. 6, 1946, she married Wayne T. STERLING - Rodney "Beebe" Harrison, 92, died May 14 at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. Born Sept. 28, 1918 in rural Sterling, he was the son of Benjamin and Christena Groth Harrison. In 1937, he graduated from Alden High School. He married Viola "Dolly" Fimple on March 9, 1942 in Sterling. A lifetime resident of Rice County he was a lifetime farmer living at the same place he was born for 82 years.
ST. JOHN - Teresa Frenzl Wondra, 91, died May 14, at Stafford County Hospital. Born July 30, 1919 at Odin, she was the daughter of Hugo and Matilda Frenzl Hoeffner. She was a homemaker and a 25-year employee of USD 350 St. John – Hudson Schools, working in the kitchen. On May 15, 1946, she married Edward A. Wondra. He died Aug. 14, 2000.
Muriel Mildred Gould, 94, of Great Bend, died May 13 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. Born Jan. 11, 1917, at Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Elisha Samuel and Minnette Elizabeth (Rice) Taylor. She married Louis Nathan "Nat" Gould on Nov. 1, 1937, at Angola, Ind. He died March 6, 2010. A Great Bend resident since the mid-1980s, coming from Gunnison, Colo., she was a nurse in Gunnison.
ABBYVILLE - William "Glenn" Flickinger, 90, died May 13 at Mennonite Friendship Manor, South Hutchinson. He was born June 12, 1920, in Abbyville, the son of William H. and Laura Warner Flickinger. He was a 1939 graduate of Nickerson High School. He married Mabel J. Disque on May 7, 1961 in Holyrood. She died April 9, 2011. A resident of Abbyville all of his life, he was a farmer, a custom cutter, and a rough neck in the oil fields. He had attended Missionary Church, Hutchinson and was a member of the El Dorado Camping Club.

STAFFORD - Donald L. Nagel, 57, died May 9 at Stafford County Hospital in Stafford. He was born May 31, 1953, the son of Albert and Marcena (Labbe) Nagel.
IUKA – Charles LeRoy 'Chuck' Backman, 79, died Tuesday, May 10, at South Wind Hospice Home in Pratt. He was born April 9, 1932 in Cleburne, the son of Wallace Theodore and Ethel (Johnson) Backman. On Jan. 22, 1956 he married Sondra G. 'Sandy' Strait. She preceded him in death on May 4, 1997. On July 4, 2001 he married Mary Ann 'Frostie' (Frost) Russell, she survives.

RUSSELL - Eugene A. Nuss, 82, died May 10 from injuries sustained in an accident. Born March 16, 1929, in Russell County, he was the son of Edward and Amelia (Karst) Nuss. On Oct. 4, 1953, he married Velda M. Keil in Milberger. A lifelong resident of Russell County, he was a farmer and former employee of Karst Construction.
HOISINGTON - Joan Nuss, 86, died May 10 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born March 18, 1925, in Bessemer, Mich., she was the daughter of Guy and Angela (Larese) Marzari. On April 10, 1948, she married Glen W. Nuss in Hoisington. He died March 21, 2006. A Hoisington resident for 50 years, she worked for USD 431 as a teachers aid.
RUSSELL - Harvey John Miller, 95, of Russell, died on Sunday at the Russell Regional Hospital Emergency Room. Born on Sept. 2, 1915, in Bushton, he was the son of George B. and Anna L. (Miller) Miller. During his childhood, he grew up in Bushton and graduated from Bushton High School in 1934. After high school he attended Wichita Business College and after graduating Business College he took correspondence courses in higher accounting. RUSSELL - Richard Henry Dumler, 88, found peace on Oct. 14, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. At the time of his death, he lived at Rose Estates assisted living in Overland Park. Born on April 19, 1926, in Russell, he was the son of Henry and Agnes Dumler. His mother later married Ted Gariepy. He attended high school in Russell, where he was a sports star. There he met cheerleader Betty Joanne Kilian. He entered the service in 1944, serving in the United States Army Air Force until 1945. He married Betty Jo on June 1, 1947.

Nadine Dreiling, 81, died Oct. 10, at Hays Medical Center. Born June 25, 1933, in Neck City, Mo., she was the daughter of George and Vera (Sargent) Moore. On Oct. 2, 1954, she married Donald A. Dreiling in Chase. He died on Nov. 11, 2010. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, coming from Chase, she and her husband owned and operated Don's Food Mart and she retired from Dillon's Pharmacy. She loved her grandchildren and watching sports, especially the University of Kansas Jayhawks and New York Yankees.
WINFIELD - Donald M. "Don" Kline, 87, of Winfield, passed away on Oct. 11, at Cumbernauld Village. Born Aug. 29, 1927, in Wichita, he was the son of Arthur C. and Martha H. (Harris) Kline.
