BURDETT - Cecil Allen Coddington, 91, died Nov. 2 at his home in Emporia. Born May 22, 1919, in Cherokee, Okla., he was the son of Royal Earl and Gladys Rose Monroe Coddington. A lifetime resident of Alexander and Burdett, moving to Emporia in 2005, he was a retired farmer and self–employed electrician. On Aug. 3, 1942, he married Floy Louise Huddleston at Great Bend. She died on July 31, 2006.
Danny K. Crane, 62, of Great Bend, died Oct. 26 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. He was born Oct. 22, 1948, at Abilene, the son of Donald and Katheline (Barlow) Crane. He married Hazel Horner on Dec. 31, 1967, at Great Bend. He was publication editor for Lockheed Missiles in Space. Mr. Crane was a Great Bend resident since 1993, coming from Pleasanton, Calif.

HOISINGTON - Duane H. (Peaches) Popp, 70, died Nov. 2 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Aug. 21, 1940, in Barton County, he was the son of Herman Theodore and Esther (Steinert) Popp. On July 21, 1963, he married Cheryl A. Lane in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of the Hoisington area, he was a farmer/rancher and worked for LD Davis Drilling, was a tool pusher for Revlin and a former custodian at Roosevelt School and Middle School.

McPHERSON - Jimmy Raybern, 44, died Nov. 1 at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. He was born May 31, 1966, at Great Bend, the son of Sam and Lora (Boatman) Raybern. He married CArla Scheuerman on June 12, 1993, at Great Bend. He worked for Mid States Supply, McPherson, as a warehouse foreman. He was a McPherson resident for seven years, coming from Great Bend.
PAWNEE ROCK - Shirley L. Arnel, 70, of Pawnee Rock, died Oct. 13 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Shirley L. Gabbert on Nov. 6, 1939, in Waco, Texas.
GLENMORA, La. - Champion Ray "Butch" McNett, 40, formerly of Great Bend, entered eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 24, at his Glenmora, La., residence. He was born June 17, 1970, in Salina, to the unionof Champion Fredrick McNett and Marie Alice McNett. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, coach and friend. He was one of the biggest Dallas Cowboys football fans. He loved coaching his sons in football and baseball. He also loved hunting, fishing, and car racing, and was a drummer at heart.
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - William Harold Clark Sr., 86, passed away on Oct. 30 at Providence Medical Center. Born May 10, 1924, in Kansas City, he was the son of William R. and Lucy (Holmes) Clark. He married Theresa Kratofil on April 24, 1948, and they had three children. He was a machine operator at Westvaco, retiring in 1987,

ELLSWORTH - Carmen R. Munguia, 89, died Oct. 31 at Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth. She was born Oct. 8, 1921, at El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Edurado and Refugio (Jimeniz) Rousett. She married Ramon Munguia on May 1, 1948, at El Paso, Texas. He died June 1, 2008. A homemaker, she was an Ellsworth resident for the past seven years, coming from Lorraine.
GREENWOOD, Ark. - Jerry L. Hedrick, 73, of Greenwood, Ark., went home to be with his Lord, Oct. 29 in a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital. He was born May 17, 1937, in Coffeyville, and was a businessman and truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and feeding local wildlife.

He was born May 25, 1934, in Plainville, Kan., to Chalmer and Ann (Cerrow) Mayhew. He married Beverly (Collis) Mayhew on April 20, 1957 in El Paso, Texas. A Great Bend resident since 1965, coming from Granby, Mo., he was a long-time oilfield truck driver and later owned and operated Tom Harris Trucking.

On Feb. 12, 1950, she married Carl W. Henkle in Holyrood. A resident of Great Bend since 1953, coming from Ellsworth County, she was employed by Sears in the customer service department, retiring after more than 30 years of service.

Born in Hays on June 3, 1938, she was the daughter of Nick and Catherine (Stecklein) Wasinger, the younger of two children, and was baptized Jeanette Mae. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, on Sept. 8, 1957. On March 18, 1958, Jeanette received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Joseph Andre. Mary Lea Wade, 85, died Oct. 21, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Aug. 14, 1929, in Prague, Okla., she was the daughter of Alvin and Pearl (Stiffler) Montgomery. On Oct. 14, 1951, she married Lee Wade in Great Bend. He died on April 9, 1988. A resident of Great Bend since 1946, coming from Prague, Okla., she was a secretary for Kopke Law Office and Haneke Financial Services.
RUSSELL - Gerald Dean Bender, 72, passed away on Oct. 19, at Russell Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 23, 1942, in Russell, he was the son of Herbert H. and Viola E. (Mai) Bender. He grew up and attended schools in the Milberger area. He was employed by the City of Russell in the refuse department for 20 years, retiring in 1999.
CLINTON, Iowa - Gerald V. Galusha, 91, of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday Oct. 19, at his home. Gerald was born on Aug. 16, 1923, in Garden Plaines, Ill., the son of James and Louise (Gerhardt) Galusha. He graduated from Erie High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945, with the 90th Infantry Division under General Patton. He was wounded on Jan. 16, 1945, at the Battle of the Bulge, when he received severe head injuries from mortar shell shrapnel.
Jack Daubert, 61, died Oct. 19 at Hutchinson Regional Hospital. Born in Great Bend, on April 9, 1953, he was the son of Herman and Wanda (Riemann) Daubert. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1972. Jack worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at "The Cedars" retirement community in McPherson. He was a longtime resident of Great Bend.
Kathy L. Kaiser, 65, passed away Oct. 19, at her home. Born Aug. 10, 1949, in Hopeton, Okla., she was the daughter of Glenn S. and Artie R. (Elliott) Jones. A resident of Great Bend since 1977, she worked 23 years for USD #428 in Food Service. On July 30, 1977, she married Paul Kaiser in Great Bend. He survives of the home.
