SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Raymond "Bud" Duane Wamsley passed away Oct. 24 in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 78. Raymond was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Wichita to the late Robert and Isadore Wamsley of Conway Springs. Upon graduation from Conway Springs High School he attended and received degrees from Friends University and Wichita State University, both in Wichita, and later the University of Kansas, where he received his doctorate in Education in 1968. Raymond was a lifetime educator and administrator. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Edward L. Koopman, 83, of Great Bend, died Oct. 22, He was born in Great Bend on Dec. 30, 1926, to Edward C. and Myrtle Pettit Koopman. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1944 and attended Kansas State University, where he played basketball. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, receiving a medical discharge in 1945.
EDMOND, Okla. - Kevin L. Cook, 36, of Edmond, Okla., died Oct. 22 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond. Knight, Sr. and Wanda (Holmes) Knight, He graduated from Pawnee Rock High School where he grew up spending considerable time with his special grandmother Maude Holmes.
HOISINGTON - Martha Ann Redetzke, 77, died Oct. 22 at Hospice of Reno County. She was born Oct. 29, 1932, at Altadena, Calif., the daughter of Harry and Nora (Auten) Hawes. She married Clarence Redetzke on Nov. 3, 1951, at Fort Smith, Ark. She worked as an accounting clerk for Essex for 23 years. She was a Hoisington resident.
AMARILLO, Texas - Odessa Mills, 93, died Oct. 20 at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood. She was born Sept. 16, 1917, at Lockney, Texas, the daughter of Richard Warren and Girlie Hewett Thomas. She married Vernon Mills on Dec. 23, 1951, at Boise City, Okla. He died Aug. 15, 1988. She was an Ellinwood resident since 2006, formerly of Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas, and Pueblo and Denver, Colo. She managed the camera department at Skaggs Drug in Pueblo and in Amarillo, from 1959 to 1981. She was in sales for more than 20 years.

STAFFORD - Rena Lynn (Staley) Dolezal, 50, died Oct. 19 in Wichita. She was born May 28, 1960, in Russell. She was a grocery store manager. Survivors include her father, Donald Staley, of Enid, Okla.; two brothers, Nathan Staley of Wichita and Keith Staley of Enid, Okla.; two sisters, Lillian Parks and Holly Harrison, both of Woodward, Okla.; five nieces, two nephews and two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Keener Staley, and a nephew, Travis Parks.

Janet S. Brack, 59, of Great Bend, died Oct. 20 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1951, at Maryville, Mo., the daughter of Rolla and Helen (Blacketer) Rankin. She married Greg Brack on July 29, 1992, at Great Bend, after sharing their lives since 1984. She worked for BMI as a claim processor and was a social worker and elementary schoolteacher for many years. Mrs. Brack was a longtime Barton County resident, coming from Norton. LARNED - Mildred Ruth Spreier, 83, died Oct. 18 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned. She was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Theodore and Ellen Virginia Lupfer Berger. A lifetime area resident of Jetmore and Larned, she taught school for three years in Hodgeman County, and worked at Larned State Hospital for 22 years as an Activity Therapist Aide II, and also as the canteen supervisor, which included a work training program. David Michael "Mike" Johnson, 72, died Oct. 30 at Almost Home Inc., Great Bend. He was born Nov. 25, 1941, at Denison, Texas, the son of Doug and Woodie (Pritchard) Johnson. He married Peggy Temple April 28, 1962, at Borger, Texas. He founded M and M Equipment in 1975, retiring in December 2012.
PAWNEE ROCK - Ladine Peterson, 95, passed away Oct. 29 at the Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born April 2, 1919, in Bison, she was the daughter of Everett and Frances Bitter Edwards. On April 3, 1941, she married Loraine Edwin Peterson in Bison. He passed away Jan. 20, 1995. A lifetime area resident of Rush and Pawnee County, she began her career as a teacher and retired from the ASCS office in Larned. She raised Persian cats and took them to many shows, and she also loved flowers.

HOISINGTON - Anna Rose Urban, 84, died Oct. 28, at Russell Regional Hospital. Born July 3, 1930, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Hoffman) Tinkel. On May 2, 1951, she married Julius J. Urban in Dubuque. He died on Oct. 27, 2003. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was the janitorial manage at the Hoisington Veterinary Hospital for many years.
