ELLINWOOD - John Calvin Voth, 83, died Sept. 30 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. Born Nov. 11, 1926, in Ellinwood, he was the son of J. Milo and Esther Schermuly Voth. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, he was self-employed as an upholsterer and shoe repairman in Ellinwood. On July 17, 1946, he married Eileen Ecker in Marion.
PRATT - Timothy Wayne Mix, 44, died Oct. 1 at his home in Pratt. He was born Oct. 28, 1965, in Kinsley, the son of Larry and Carolyn Thomas Mix. He was a 1984 graduate of St. John High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Schenectady stationed in San Diego, Calif. More recently he was head cook for Great Western Dining at Pratt Community College.
HAYS - John A. Pfannenstiel, 63, of Hays, passed away Wednesday, the result of an automobile accident. He was born on January 6, 1947 in Hays to Alois and Domitilla (Befort) Pfannenstiel. He married Rose Ann Rome on November 26, 1971 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria.
Tim Frost, 37, died Wednesday at home in Great Bend. He was born June 16, 1973 at Boone, Iowa the son of Richard and Vicki (O'Hern) Frost.

Judy Ann Barlow, 58, died Tuesday at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born April 22, 1952, the daughter of Marvin Benjerman and Evelyn (Koelsch) Clawson. She was a life long resident of Great Bend. She married Robert Barlow April 15, 1970 in Great Bend.
HANSTON – Dennis R. Jones, 67, died Sept. 27 at Hays Medical Center. Born Jan. 3, 1943 at Spearville, the son of Bert and Bertha Smith Jones. A lifetime area resident, he was a lineman for Midwest Energy at Hanston, and he was also a farmer. Dennis was a loving father and grandfather.
GLENMORA, LA. - Butch McNett, 40, of Glenmora, La., entered eternal rest on Sept. 24, 2010 in his residence. He was born on June 17, 1970 in Salina, to the union of Champion Fredrick McNett and Marie Alice McNett. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, coach and friend. He was one of the biggest Dallas Cowboys Football fan. He loved coaching his sons in football and baseball. He also loved hunting, fishing, car racing, and was a drummer at heart.
TOPEKA - Opal M. Snider, 105, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Manor of Topeka. She was born February 5, 1905 at Mahaska, the daughter of Amos and Sophenia May. On May 24, 1929, she married Clifford Snider at Ness City. Clifford preceded her in death in 1980. A longtime Hoisington resident, coming from Dodge City, Mrs. Snider was a retired school teacher having taught in Ness City for 12 years..
IRVINE, Calif. - Ruth Lorraine Duncan, 97, died Sept. 27 at Irvine, Calif. She was born Dec. 18, 1912 at Ellinwood, the daughter of Florence M. and DeWitt Johnson. She married Charles Duncan, Jr. on June 12, 1937 in Long Beach, Calif. He died Nov. 18, 2005.
Gerald D. Krug, 68, of Great Bend, died Sept. 27 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. He was born Feb. 27, 1942, at Great Bend, the son of Edward and Helen V. (Brack) Krug. He married Marlies Pütz on April 13, 1968, at Memphis, Ark. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was owner and operator of E&E Glass and Gifts, Great Bend.
BROWNWOOD, Texas - On Sept. 26 at 12:56 p.m., Bryan S. Lange was serenaded by angels from Hendricks Hospital in Abilene, Texas, to his heavenly home at the age of 35. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church, Junction, Texas. Bryan's uncle Dennis Heinold will share officiate duties with Steven Royall, youth pastor of First Baptist Church.

ELLINWOOD - Mary Lee Koch, 66, died Sept. 25 at Promise Regional Hospital in Hutchinson. Born Dec. 11, 1943, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Frank and Clemantine Tyson Straub. On Feb. 29, 1972, she married Marvin Koch in Salina. A long-time resident of Ellinwood, formerly of Great Bend and Tulsa, Okla., she was a homemaker and waitress at J.C. Penny's Coffee Shop, Fuller Brush, owner of Kookies Lounge in Great Bend and a waitress at Sheridan Lanes in Tulsa, Okla.
WOODLAWN, TENN. - MSG (Ret.) Herman E. Cassity, 82, Woodlawn, Tenn., died Sept. 25 at his home. Born Dec. 10, 1927, in Bush City, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Esther Burlington Cassity. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army, where he belonged to the 101st Airborne Division. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service he retired once again from Civil Service Family Housing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Faye Conatser Cassity.
Jack Daubert, 61, died Oct. 19 at Hutchinson Regional Hospital. Born in Great Bend, on April 9, 1953, he was the son of Herman and Wanda (Riemann) Daubert. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1972. Jack worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at "The Cedars" retirement community in McPherson. He was a longtime resident of Great Bend.
Kathy L. Kaiser, 65, passed away Oct. 19, at her home. Born Aug. 10, 1949, in Hopeton, Okla., she was the daughter of Glenn S. and Artie R. (Elliott) Jones. A resident of Great Bend since 1977, she worked 23 years for USD #428 in Food Service. On July 30, 1977, she married Paul Kaiser in Great Bend. He survives of the home.
James C. Burnette, 77, died Oct. 20 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 6, 1937 at Salina, he was the son of Cecil Marion and Stella M. (Lackey) Burnette.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1926, in Hoisington, to Duke and Opal (Sypolt) Van Brimmer. Karen was a 1944 graduate of Hoisington High School and attended Wichita State University for two years. RUSSELL - Richard Henry Dumler, 88, found peace on Oct. 14, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. At the time of his death, he lived at Rose Estates assisted living in Overland Park. Born on April 19, 1926, in Russell, he was the son of Henry and Agnes Dumler. His mother later married Ted Gariepy. He attended high school in Russell, where he was a sports star. There he met cheerleader Betty Joanne Kilian. He entered the service in 1944, serving in the United States Army Air Force until 1945. He married Betty Jo on June 1, 1947.
