IRVINE, Calif. - Ruth Lorraine Duncan, 97, died Sept. 27 at Irvine, Calif. She was born Dec. 18, 1912 at Ellinwood, the daughter of Florence M. and DeWitt Johnson. She married Charles Duncan, Jr. on June 12, 1937 in Long Beach, Calif. He died Nov. 18, 2005.
Gerald D. Krug, 68, of Great Bend, died Sept. 27 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. He was born Feb. 27, 1942, at Great Bend, the son of Edward and Helen V. (Brack) Krug. He married Marlies Pütz on April 13, 1968, at Memphis, Ark. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was owner and operator of E&E Glass and Gifts, Great Bend.

WOODLAWN, TENN. - MSG (Ret.) Herman E. Cassity, 82, Woodlawn, Tenn., died Sept. 25 at his home. Born Dec. 10, 1927, in Bush City, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Esther Burlington Cassity. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army, where he belonged to the 101st Airborne Division. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service he retired once again from Civil Service Family Housing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Faye Conatser Cassity.

PRATT - Josephine M. Strohl, 89, died Sept. 26 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. She was born Dec. 8, 1920, in St. Leo, the daughter of Edward N. and Emma (Armbruster) Freund. RUSSELL - Gerald Dean Bender, 72, passed away on Oct. 19, at Russell Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 23, 1942, in Russell, he was the son of Herbert H. and Viola E. (Mai) Bender. He grew up and attended schools in the Milberger area. He was employed by the City of Russell in the refuse department for 20 years, retiring in 1999.
CLINTON, Iowa - Gerald V. Galusha, 91, of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday Oct. 19, at his home. Gerald was born on Aug. 16, 1923, in Garden Plaines, Ill., the son of James and Louise (Gerhardt) Galusha. He graduated from Erie High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945, with the 90th Infantry Division under General Patton. He was wounded on Jan. 16, 1945, at the Battle of the Bulge, when he received severe head injuries from mortar shell shrapnel.
