WINFIELD - Dorothy Mae Wesseler, 91, passed away June 4 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. Born June 18, 1922, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Henry and Tillie (Riemann) Janke. On Nov. 18, 1945, she married Orville E. Wesseler. She was a homemaker, school lunch cook, and school bus driver.
William Joseph Robbins, 91, died June 7 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Oct. 15, 1922, in Coldwater, he was the son of George and Catherine (McFadden) Robbins. On Aug. 6, 1992, he married Nadine L. Lorimor in Las Vegas, Nev. She died Jan. 29, 1999. A Great Bend resident since 1989, coming from Tuscon, Ariz., and Comanche County, he was an accountant for H&R Block and farmed in Comanche County. He enjoyed watching sports.
Constance "Connie" Foelgner Lewis, 75, passed away on May 29 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Parker, Colo. She was born July 13, 1938 to Genevieve Sophie Woydziak and Russell Robert Foelgner. She is the oldest sibling and survived by Roberta Foelgner-Walker, Linda Riffel-Pearson, Mary Riffel-Komarek and David Riffel.
POULSBO, Wash. - John David Lewis, 70, died May 19. Born Nov. 16, 1943, he was the son of Joe W. Lewis and Margaret Lewis. He was the third generation farmer/stockman of Alfalfa Lawn Farms in Larned. On Sept. 4, 1970, he married Janis Mills in Excelsior Springs, Mo. A former Larned resident, he moved to Poulsbo, Wash., in 2008, to be near his daughter Renee Carroll and her family. His main passion after moving to Washington was his grandchildren. He also had a beautiful garden. His main hobby was making wood furniture and selling them at the local market.
Thon "T.P." Schartz, 84, died June 5 at his home in Great Bend. Born March 17, 1930, in Ellinwood, he was the son of Anthony Nicholas and Mary Edna (Rickert) Schartz. On May 23, 2009, he married Myrna (Beal) Branstetter in Seward. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a retired insurance adjuster for Crawford and Company, and had previously farmed, operated Schartz Construction and managed the 300 Bowl. He played organized baseball and city basketball and was an avid golfer.
Kenneth Albert Fradd Jr., 67, died June 3 at his home in Great Bend. Born May 21, 1947, in Great Bend, he was the son of Kenneth Albert Sr., and Cleone Marie (Wesley) Fradd. On Nov. 28, 1970, he married Sally Ann Cramer in Great Bend. She died on Oct. 15, 1972. A resident of Great Bend most of his life, living in Salina for 10 years, he was an electronics technician for Glenn's Electric and Great Plains Manufacturing, until his retirement.
NESS CITY - Marilea Jane Hall Wendler was born on Oct. 5, 1926, in the small Kansas town of Schaeffer and passed to eternal life at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Ill., on June 2, 2014 at age 87. She was preceded in death by her parents Fanny Moore Hall and Anthony Cornelius Hall, a brother Wayne Hall, sisters Atha (Dwight) Kerschner and Marjorie (Clarence) Scheuerman, her husband Arthur Cyril Wendler and her daughter Artilea Ann Wendler. She is survived by her sons Kent Anthony (Anne) Wendler, their two children, and Craig Arthur (Lorie) Wendler and their six children.
Doyle "Gene" Boyd, 78, Topeka, passed away May 30 at a local hospital. Gene was born Sept.16, 1935 in Holdenville, Okla., the son of Lige and Etta (Cummings) Boyd. He graduated from Wewoka High School in Wewoka, Okla. and later attended junior college in Gainesville, Texas.
MCPHERSON - Ronald E. Miller, 78, passed away June 1 at Wichita. The son of John A. and Lillie (Flora) Miller, he was a farmer/stockman living on the farm near Macksville before moving to McPherson in 1996. A former U.S. Navy pilot, his memberships include Eden Valley Church of the Brethren, Dillwyn board of directors, Cedars board of directors and Young Eagles. On Dec. 29, 1956, he married Ruth Jean (Grossnickle) at Curlew, Iowa. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2000. On July 19, 2002, he married Audrey (Johnson) at Smolan.
