GREAT BEND – Doreen Viola Boor, 66, died May 31, 2012, at her home in Great Bend. She was born Sept. 11, 1945, at Quinter, the daughter of Titus and Mary Matilda (Herzog) Kuntz. She married Lawrence "Larry" Boor May 5, 1966, at Great Bend. A bookkeeper for Johnson Electric and Alfalfa Pellets and having worked for Ellinwood Packing for 23 years, she was a Great Bend resident since 1963, coming from Grainfield.

PARKER, Colo. – Fae Amerine, 94, died May 27, 2012, at Colorado Assisted Living, Parker, Colo. She was born Oct. 29, 1917, at Thornfield, Mo., the daughter of Samuel Gordon and Alice Ruby (McAllister) Doss. She married Earl Marion Amerine July 5, 1936, at Lyons. He died March 10, 2011.

ELLINWOOD - Kenneth Secrist, 97, died May 27 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born May 12, 1915 in Linn County, he was the son of James Walter and Jenni Pearl (Robbins) Secrist. On July 29, 1938 he married Leila Jene Burris in Augusta. She died on July 25, 1998. An Ellinwood resident for sixty-five years coming from El Dorado, he was a teacher with his first teaching job at Manter. ELLINWOOD - Imogene M. Sanko, 80, died May 29 at Country Place Senior Living in Ellinwood. Born Jan. 19, 1932 in Meade, she was the daughter of James Hayden and Hilda Cordes Hayden. On Oct. 8, 1951 she married Wilbert V. Sanko at the Cathedral in Dodge City. A resident of Ellinwood for 58 years, she was a farm wife, bus driver for USD 355 assistant to a veterinarian and a telephone operator.

Minn./Fla. - Kenneth E. Redetzke, 71, of Burnsville and Longville, Minn. and Destin, Fla., died on May 26 at his home in Florida after a nine month battle with kidney cancer. Ken was born on May 2, 1941, in Claflin, the eldest son of Vernon Redetzke and Susanna Lang Redetzke. He was a 1948 graduate of Great Bend High School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Kansas State University in 1953. On Sept. 28, 1958, he married Loreta J. "Reta" Hill in Hoisington. HOISINGTON - Velma H. McMillin, 90, died Dec. 4 at Via Christi Hospital, St. Francis, in Wichita. Born Jan. 20, 1924, in Melvern, she was the daughter of Oscar and Hazel (Goldsmith) Beck. On Nov. 30, 1940, she married H.D. McMillin in Ottawa. He died July 23, 1993. A resident of Hoisington since 1940, she worked as a florist for many years and she was also the co-owner of Trinkets and Treasures, an antique shop in Hoisington. She was an avid sports fan cheering for the Chiefs, Kansas University and the Green Bay Packers.
Elizabeth "Liz" Ewing Moore, 87, died Dec. 4, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Dec. 14, 1926, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of William and Jesse (Funk) Stanley. On June 14, 1947, she married Robert Gilmore Ewing in Great Bend. The later divorced. On July 11, 1992, she married Darrel Herman in Great Bend. He died on Oct. 20, 2007. A lifetime resident of Great Bend she was a cook for USD #428, a secretary for Gibson, Titus and Stafford and retired as a clerk for Centel.
BRIGHTON, Colo. - Michael Thomas Ochs, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 26, in a car accident. Born Dec. 19, 1941, in Wichita, he was the son of Martin and Dorothy (Murphy) Ochs.
HUDSON – Hilda L. Siefkes, 100, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born May 31, 1914, on the family farm, rural Hudson, she was the daughter of Carl and Lena Drach. Hilda was a lifetime resident of the Hudson Community. She was a 1932 graduate of Hudson High School. She was a homemaker, careful custodian of her home, yard and flower garden, dear mother and loving grandmother and great grandmother.
