VICTORIA - Robert F. (Bob) Unrein, 72, died Nov. 25 at his home in Victoria. Born Feb. 18, 1939, in Hays, he was the son of Peter C. and Lucida (Schutz) Unrein. He married Rose Marie (Brungardt) on June 13, 1964, at Victoria. A resident of Victoria since 1964, he was a sheet metal worker employed by Charles Leiker Plumbing and Heating, Midland Inc., and 30 years for Glassman Corp., all in Hays.
Florence J. Debes, 75, of Great Bend, died Nov. 24 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 2, 1936, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of John A. and Helen F. (Huslig) Debes. She lived on the farm where she was born until she moved to Odin in 1980 with her parents. Her mother died in 1987 and she lived with her father until he died in 1999, when she moved to Great Bend, as a client of Rosewood Services.
MANHATTAN - Paul Wesley Brown, 83, longtime resident of Manhattan, passed away on Nov. 21 at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan. Born on Dec. 3, 1927, in Great Bend, he was the son of Alice Ruth (Tullis) and Thomas Logan Brown. Paul was raised in Great Bend and graduated from high school in 1945. In 1949 he graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. On April 17, 1951, at the Danforth Chapel on the Kansas State University campus, he married Joanne Frudden. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2005.
GARFIELD - Leroy T. Hickman, 82, died Nov. 24 at Larned Healthcare Center, Larned. He was born Jan. 12, 1929, at Henderson, Ark., the son of Olin and Sarah Wood Hickman. On Dec. 8, 1951, he married Maxine M. Lackey at Mountain Home, Ark. She survives. A longtime resident of Garfield, he was a mechanic and Garfield City Maintenance.
Roy Lee Jurgensen, 88, died Nov. 24 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Barton County, the son of Fred H. and Alma W. (Schuster) Jurgensen. He married Eunice Mae Davidson on May 16, 1951, at Great Bend. She died Sept. 1, 1980. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was road maintenance foreman for Barton County Highway Department for 41 years, retiring in 1987.
LEE'S SUMMIT, MO. - Dorothy L. Bryant, 85 of Lee's Summit, Mo., died Nov. 23, 2011, at Wilshire at Lakewood in Lee's Summit.
GEORGETOWN, Colo. - Donna M. Peters, 82, died Nov. 22 at St. Anthony Hospital, Lakewood, Colo. She was born Sept. 24, 1929, at Janesville, Wis., to Paul and Ada Blanche (Carroll) Rogers.
ST. JOHN - Dorotha M. "Dody" Curtis, 93, died Nov. 22 in Stafford. Born Jan. 5, 1918, at St. John, she was the daughter of Nicholas E. and Mabel C. (Aleshire) Baker. She graduated from St. John High School in 1936. On Aug. 6, 1936, she married Robert George Curtis at El Reno, Okla. He preceded her in death. A lifetime resident of St. John, she was a homemaker.

BURDETT - Harold "Prince Hal" Patterson, 79, a former professional football player and dirt construction worker, passed away Nov. 21, 2011 in Kinsley.

HOISINGTON - Richard K. McGinnis, 84, died Nov. 20 at his residence in Hoisington. Born Sept. 10, 1927 in rural Barton County, he was the son of Edman E. and Lena Gray (Ruble) McGinnis. In October 1953, he married Shirley L. Trauer at Sylvia. A resident of Hoisington since 1953, he was a grader/maintenance operator for Eureka Township and a heavy equipment operator for the State of Kansas and Prosser Dirt Construction. He loved hunting, especially pheasants and quail.
Jerry Pierson, 75, died Nov. 20 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Nov. 23, 1935 in Bean Lake, Mo., he was the son of C.W. and Priscilla (Rupe) Pierson. On April 17, 1993 he married Lois (Smith) Becker in Great Bend. A resident of the Barton County area for 40 years, he was a long time employee of Murray Casing Crews. He was an avid hunter, who loved his family, guns, classic Mopars and gardening. He was also known to be an extreme "do-it-yourselfer".
John lived in the Pratt and Sawyer area in his younger years and graduated from Moscow High School and Fort Hays State University. He served seven years in the Army Reserves out of Hays.
