Daryl "Tippy" Ferguson, 52, died Aug. 22 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born April 4, 1961, at Great Bend, to Donald Gene and Opal Ann (McKnight) Ferguson. He married Sharon M. Thompson June 27, 1981, at Great Bend. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a dispatcher for Horizon Express.
OMAHA, Neb. - Gloria Grace VanSkike, infant daughter of Joshua and Lisa (Jones) VanSkike of Minden, Neb., entered this life on Aug. 16, and went home to rest in the arms of Jesus on Aug. 17, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
MUSKOGEE, Okla.- Pauline Nuss Endicott, 96, a child of the Triune God, died peacefully at her home in Muskogee, Okla. She was born September 25, 1916 in Ellinwood to Johann George Nuss and Elizabeth Galliart Nuss who were German immigrants from Russia. Pauline was the youngest of eight children.
LARNED - Lynn A. Welch, 79, died Aug.17, at Hays Medical Center. Born Jan. 17, 1934, in Great Bend, he was the son of J. Albert and Edna Unruh Welch. On Dec. 22, 1962, he married Judi Ellis in Larned. She survives. A lifetime area resident, he was a retired crop adjuster.
ELLINWOOD - Barbara Ann Vander Meer, 67, died Aug. 15 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. She was born Nov. 24, 1945, at Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Al and Ruby Bell Grosenheider. She married Thomas J. Vander Meer on Nov. 25, 1966, at Yankton, S.D. She worked as office manager for Drs. Holt, Preston and Peck, and secretary for the maintenance department at Central Kansas Medical Center. A 35-year resident of Great Bend, formerly of Yankton, S.D., she moved to Ellinwood in April.
CLAFLIN - Lucinda R. "Cindy" Rugan, 70, died Aug. 16 at Sterling House of Great Bend. Born Jan. 19, 1943, at Pawnee County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Hager) Johnson. Cindy married Donald D. Rugan on Nov. 2, 1963, at Macksville. She attended the Dominican School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse working for the Claflin School System and later served as a Certified Hospice Nurse for Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice.
BEAVER, Okla. - Shirley Faye Bobeck, 77, passed away Aug. 14, at the Beaver County Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born on Oct. 4, 1935, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Howard and Genevie (Yahne) Kimber. On May 22, 1953, she graduated from Great Bend High School. On March 17, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Roy Lee Bobeck. She was employed for Beaver Cable TV for 20-plus years as secretary/bookkeeper.
