LIBERAL - Robert D. "Bob" Faulkner, 83, died on Jan. 17 at his home in Liberal. Born Jan. 17, 1929 in Geneseo, he was the son of Carcel and Opal (Cronkite) Faulkner. He married Mary Lou Robbins. On Dec. 4, 1964 he married Beverly Doreen Taber in Clayton, N.M. She preceded him in death on May 8, 1995. He was employed as an officer with the Newport News, Va. police department, then the Liberal police department, and worked as a clerk for over 20 years at Panhandle Eastern Pipeline.
NESS CITY - Otto A. Debes, 101, died Jan. 18 in Ness City. Born April 14, 1910 in Odin, he was the son of Alois and Hedwig Debes, one of 13 siblings. On May 30, 1933, he married Susan A. Lang. Otto was a life-long farmer in Ness County.

James L. "Jim" Boyce, 75, of Great Bend, passed away on Jan. 16. at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on Oct. 25, 1936, in Lyons, he was the son of Louis and Mabel (Wieter) Boyce. He lived in Lyons, Wichita, Hutchinson and Great Bend while growing up and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1956. On Oct. 25, 1978, he was united in marriage to Sandra J. Dwelley at Swan Valley, Idaho. LAWRENCE - Bernice "Betti" L. Alexander, 94, of Lawrence, passed away Jan. 14 at a nursing home in Lawrence. Born March 5, 1917, in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of Albert H. and Esther (Brackett) Ladue. She graduated from high school and then attended one year of college. On July 28, 1944, she married Col. Leland "Alex" Guy Alexander in in Schenectady, N.Y. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2005. She then married Joseph McLaughlin in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in February of 2011.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - John Donovan Neeland died at his home in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Jan. 12. The son of Donovan and Mary Agnes "Mamie" (Risse) Neeland, he was born in Great Bend on Nov. 6, 1930. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1949 and attended Kansas State University. WASHINGTON, MO. - Karolyn Kaye Coleman, 72, of Washington, Mo., formerly of Ellis, passed away in the loving arms of God, on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Cedarcrest Manor Nursing Home in Washington, Mo. Born on Aug. 16, 1939, in Emmeram, she was the daughter of Delbert and Beulah (Springfield) Witt. On July 25, 1955 she married Arthur Paul Coleman, in Great Bend. HOISINGTON - Kirby Dean Ricke, 61, died Oct. 11, at Almost Home in Great Bend. Born July 2, 1953, in Alva, Okla., he was the son of Theodore Dean and Darlene (Huffman) Ricke. Kirby graduated in 1971 from Hoisington High School. He was active in both vocal music and band programs, excelling at the trumpet. Nadine Dreiling, 81, died October 10, 2014, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born June 25, 1933, in Neck City, Mo., the daughter of George and Vera Sargent Moore. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, moving from Chase, she and her husband owned and operated Don's Food Mart, and she retired from Dillons Pharmacy.
HOISINGTON - Lila Jean Haberman, 80, died Oct. 11 at her daughter's home in Olmitz. She was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Galatia, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Steinert) Wagner. She married Jim Stoss on July 30, 1952. He died Dec. 25, 1979. She then married Larry Haberman on March 30, 1991. He died Dec. 8, 2006. Lila Jean was a resident of Hoisington, coming from Olmitz. Paul E. Dyer, 84, died Oct. 8 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 20, 1930, in Great Bend, he was the son of Homer and Katherine (Jones) Dyer. On Jan. 4, 1954, he married Julitta M. Elsen, in Great Bend. She died on March 12, 1995. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.
John D. Trimmer, 65, of Great Bend and formerly of Pawnee Rock and Dundee, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born on Feb. 11, 1949, at Belleville, to George Franklin and Edna Alene (Larr) Trimmer. He graduated from Republic County Schools in 1965 and was united in marriage to Diana Levingston on June 10, 1976, at Pawnee Rock. She died on July 22, 2013. John worked as a chain hand in the oilfield prior to his retirement. He enjoyed rock collecting, watching wrestling and spending time with family.
CIMARRON - Johnna Franks, 65, died Oct. 8, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. Born Nov. 1, 1948, in Independence, she was the daughter of Johnnie and Norma (Marlett) Carroll. She graduated high school in Fredonia. She was a convenience store manager for 30 years. On June 28, 1970, she married Larry Franks in Fredonia. She and Larry moved to Cimarron from Great Bend, and spent the last three years RVing full time. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards.

Born Viola Mae Wimmer on July 25, 1915, in Harlan, she was the daughter of Harvey Lester and Mary Ann Zion Wimmer. She graduated from Portis High School, attended college at York College for two years, then finished her teaching education at Fort Hays State University.
