Barb was born July 13, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Charles and Ruth Swinney. In 1957, the family moved to Valley Center, where Barb attended Valley Center High School and graduated in 1961. Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Fort Scott she was the daughter of James L. and Lillie Mae (Chambers) Parker and was later adopted by Ruth Chidester Noggle. She attended school in St. John and later in Russell, where she graduated from in 1943. On June 1, 1943, she married Wayne Ingalls Grippin. They later divorced. She then married Joseph B. Wells. ELLSWORTH - Merlin Thomas (Thom) Stang, 66, passed away March 26 at his home in Ellsworth. Thom was born to Albert and Anita Stang on August 7, 1948 in Marysville. He was raised in Victoria and was part of their graduating class of 1966. Thom was drafted and served the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas. In 1972, he married Ruann Kuntzsch. He completed training and was certified in printing at Salina Area Technical College.

THAILAND - Richard A. Poage passed away in his sleep at his home in Thailand on Jan. 23, with his companion by his side. Born on Sept. 6, 1940, in Great Bend, he was the son of Marion and Irene Poage. Born and raised in Great Bend he worked in the oilfields, like his father, from the age of 17 until retiring from offshore drilling 10 years ago in Thailand. In 1960, he married Sheryl Wheat. They divorced in 1964. In 1968, he married Vicky Campbell while working in Scotland. The divorced in 1975.

HAYS - Leona Winterlin, 83, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Sterling House in Great Bend. She was born in 1931 in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Dan and Elsie (Birkey) Roth. She married DeWayne Winterlin on Aug. 21, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died June 20, 2000. She attended Wheaton College and Moody Bible Institute. She was an LPN and worked as a nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and later at nursing homes in Kansas.

ANDOVER - Cheryl Ann Harrell, 68, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior, March 29, 2015, at Life Care Center of Andover. Born Dec. 14, 1946, in Atchison she was the daughter of Wallace and Verdele Russell. In August 1965, she married the love of her life, Jon. She was a retired office manager for her husband's optometry practice. She worked with Jon in their offices in Larned and Great Bend, building his optometry practice until his death Jan. 1, 2006.

HOISINGTON - Maurice "Bryce" Clark, 77, died March 30, at Cherry Village Residential Care in Great Bend. Born May 20, 1937, in Penokee, he was the son of John George and Margaret Elizabeth Clark. In 1955, he graduated from Hill City High School. He later served in the Army from 1960 to 1962. A Hoisington resident since 1962, he worked as a trackman for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad retiring in 1999. On June 1, 1985, he married Betty "JoAnn" Mullis at the First United Methodist Church in Hoisington. She survives.
