ELLINWOOD - Doris A. Starkey, 92, died Nov. 16 at Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Oct. 20, 1919 in Burlington, she was the daughter of William L. Graybeal and Mary Ann Finney Graybeal. An Ellinwood resident for nearly 50 years, formerly of Houston, Texas and Burlington, she was a bank teller and secretary.
Delores Ann Zachary, 55, longtime Great Bend resident, died on Nov. 28 at her home in Great Bend. Born on Jan. 6, 1956 at Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Leslie and Margaret (Dueser) Music. She graduated from Barton County Community College in Great Bend. She worked at the Safeway grocery store in Great Bend, and at the time of her death worked was a waitress at the Pizza Hut on north Main Street in Great Bend, where she had been employed for many years.
LOVELAND, Colo. - Robert Jude Hammer, 71, passed away on Nov. 20 at his home in Loveland, Colo. Born on Oct. 23, 1940 in Great Bend, he was the son of Carl and June (Keenan) Hammer. He grew up on a farm west of Ellinwood. In 1958, he graduated from Ellinwood High School. He attended Fort Hays State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts in Political Science. He then attended the University of Kansas where he received his Judicial Degree. William D. Witcraft, 87, of Great Bend, died Nov. 26 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 21, 1924, in Fairfax, Okla., he was the son of Chauncey and Mattie Smith Witcraft. He married Marian McAfee. They later divorced. He then married Betty Schiewe. She died in July of 2009. A long-time resident of Barton County, he was a retired oilfield perforator. He enjoyed playing golf.
VICTORIA - Robert F. (Bob) Unrein, 72, died Nov. 25 at his home in Victoria. Born Feb. 18, 1939, in Hays, he was the son of Peter C. and Lucida (Schutz) Unrein. He married Rose Marie (Brungardt) on June 13, 1964, at Victoria. A resident of Victoria since 1964, he was a sheet metal worker employed by Charles Leiker Plumbing and Heating, Midland Inc., and 30 years for Glassman Corp., all in Hays.
Florence J. Debes, 75, of Great Bend, died Nov. 24 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 2, 1936, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of John A. and Helen F. (Huslig) Debes. She lived on the farm where she was born until she moved to Odin in 1980 with her parents. Her mother died in 1987 and she lived with her father until he died in 1999, when she moved to Great Bend, as a client of Rosewood Services.
MANHATTAN - Paul Wesley Brown, 83, longtime resident of Manhattan, passed away on Nov. 21 at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan. Born on Dec. 3, 1927, in Great Bend, he was the son of Alice Ruth (Tullis) and Thomas Logan Brown. Paul was raised in Great Bend and graduated from high school in 1945. In 1949 he graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. On April 17, 1951, at the Danforth Chapel on the Kansas State University campus, he married Joanne Frudden. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2005.
GREENSBURG - Gene Kile, 84, died peacefully at his home in Pratt, Aug. 26, 2014.
Roberta Jo Carr, 59, died Aug. 25 at Great Bend Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 11, 1954, in Fayette County, Ohio. Roberta was a resident of Great Bend since 1987, moving from Washington Courthouse, Ohio. She worked as a night auditor for Days Inn.
Bennie Lou Moos, 69, died Aug. 24, at Hays Medical Center. Born June 18, 1945, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Leon and Vanonda (Wise) Gray. On April 28, 1962, she married Don J. Leiker in Great Bend. They were later divorced. She then married Lyle L. Workman. He passed away in 2003. She then married Robert W. Moos on May 2, 2013, in Great Bend. He survives. A resident of Great Bend since 1986, coming from WaKeeney where she had resided since 1971, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, craft work, floral arranging and music.
DADE CITY, Fla. - Paul Folds of Dade City, Fla. passed away Aug 21, at 67 years of age. Paul loved his family, friends, and animals. He had a kind heart and was always giving what he could to others. His enjoyments in life were the family and animals that he cherished. Paul will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

ELLINWOOD - Lincoln Paul Tschopp, 78, died Aug. 17, at his home in Ellinwood. Born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Winfield, he was the son of Frederick and Cleoa (Pishney) Tschopp of Udall. He graduated as the first four sport letterman from Udall High School and holds degrees from both BCCC and Friends University in Wichita. After the 1955 Udall tornado destroyed his hometown, Paul enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Special Weapons Command. On April 4, 1975, he married Lillian Milberger in Wichita.
