Bennie Mooer, 86, died July 25, 2011, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1925, at Otis, the son of Harvey and Hermina (Gleissner) Mooer. He married Bonnie Peoples on Sept. 8, 1946, at St. John. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he owned and operated the Bennie Mooer Construction Co.

CLAFLIN - Walter K. Ehly, 83, died July 23, 2011, at his residence in Claflin. Born Oct. 17, 1927, in Claflin, he was the son of August and Mary (Knorr) Ehly. Raised in Claflin, he was a graduate of Claflin High School. He graduated from Fort Hays State College with a degree in math and science, and continued his studies to receive his Master's degree in 1956 with a major in Secondary Eduction. Harold Allen Piper, 82, died July 20 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born July 11, 1929 in Great Bend, he was the son of James Jacob and Helen Ann (Tucker) Piper. On April 16, 1948 he married Shirley Ruth Young in Honolulu, Hawaii. She died Aug. 10, 2002. A resident of Great Bend since 1962, coming from Pratt, he worked in the oilfield and was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Betty Lorraine Garner, 86, died July 19 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Sept. 27, 1924 in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Harry and Lucy (Kendall) Johnson. On Dec. 31, 1947 she married Dink Everett Garner in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she worked in surgery, the nursery and as a ward secretary at Central Kansas Medical Center.
KINSLEY - John C. Winter, 39, died July 19 at his home in Kinsley. Born Aug. 17, 1971, in Garden City, he was the son of Ronald K. and Gail (Minyen) Winter. He was a glass blower.

CASPER, WYO. - Marvin Keller, 80, passed away on July 16, following an accident in Pueblo, Colo. Marvin was born May 14, 1931, in Seward, the son of Charles and Lucille Keller. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. He spent two years in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
