Paul Turnbull, 81, went to meet Jesus Feb. 20, 2011. Paul, the youngest of 11, and his twin, John, were born in Elizabeth, Pa., in 1929. He attended Sterling College and served as Bushton Postmaster 42 years and on boards of USD 328 and Great Bend Center for Counseling. Paul loved gardening, swimming, family camping trips, making home-made ice cream, playing Boogaloo and Tennessee Turnbull Reunions.
Archie "Galen" Allen, 73, died March 4 at home in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 25, 1938, at Great Bend, the son of Archie Roy and Rosetta Mae (Smiley) Allen. He married Barbara Leah Feaster on Jan. 1, 1963, at Windsor, Mo. She died June 29, 2006. He worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle, Wash., as an engineer. Mr. Allen was a lifelong resident of Great Bend, also living in Bozeman, Mont., Seattle, Wash., and Torrance, Calif.
ELLINWOOD - Wilma G. Dannebohm, 75, died March 7 at Stafford County Hospital in Stafford. She was born May 3, 1935, at Midian, the daughter of Ted and Irene Waterman Zimmerman. She graduated from Ellinwood High School. A lifetime Ellinwood resident, she was a nurse at Ellinwood District Hospital, a florist at Flowers and Things and a secretary at Immanuel United Church of Christ, all of Ellinwood.
NESS CITY - Gilbert Philip Rebel, age 84, passed away on March 5 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born on Feb. 18, 1927, in Schoenchen, the son of Joe and Lena Zimmerman Rebel. He was a farmer and he worked for Ness County road maintenance for 37 years.
KIMBALL, Neb. - Patrick A. Dunegan, 73, of Kimball, Neb., died March 3 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo. Born Sept. 6, 1939, in Ellinwood, he was the son of Patrick and Mildred (Powell) Dunegan. He was raised and attended school in Great Bend. He married Carol L. Wenger on Sept. 15, 1957, at Great Bend. The family moved to Kimball in 1958 and he worked with Curley Hensley doing metal fabrication in the oil field. He retired in 2007.
LIEBENTHAL - William W. "Bill" Legleiter, 85, of Liebenthal, passed away March 6 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. Born on Nov. 11, 1925, in rural Liebenthal, he was the son of Nick and Katie (Urban) Legleiter. He married Rita Giebler on Nov. 27, 1946, in Catharine. He was a farmer and stockman who was known to be a hard working man. He had served on the La Crosse Co-op Board and School Board and was a 4-H leader in Liebenthal.
Archie G. Allen died March 4 at his home in Great Bend. Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home.
TULSA, Okla. - George James "Jim" Eastwood, 63, was born on July 25, 1947 in Great Bend to George and Mary (Welch) Eastwood. Jim passed from this life on March 2 in Tulsa, Okla. at the age of 63.
HOISINGTON - John Maynard Little, 55, died March 3 at Clara Barton Hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1955 at Hoisington, the son of Harold E. and Wilma M. (Lust) Little.
ELLINWOOD - Judith Kay Ritchie, 69, died March 3 at the Ellinwood District Hospital. Born June 23, 1941 in Hays, she was the daughter of Roy Lafayette Bailes and Genevieve Marie Davis Bailes. In 1957, she married Aubrey Tatro at Medicine Lodge. She later married Clarence Randall Ritchie on April 29, 1961 in Medicine Lodge. He died on Dec. 30, 2007. SAN ANGELO, Texas - Tom L. Berscheidt dedicated his life to family, friends, and serving God. On Feb. 11, surrounded by many people who loved him, Tom passed away from complications associated with esophageal cancer, just 17 days before his 60th birthday. HUDSON – Gene George Krankenberg, 78, died March 2 in Overland Park. Born May 20, 1932 in Udall,he was the son of Leo and Lorine Krankenberg. A long time resident of Hudson, he was a farmer. On Sept. 26, 1955 he married Chiemi Ishimaru in Japan.
LA CROSSE - Laurene Elizabeth Marvin, 89, died March 1 at Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom. Born March 16, 1921 in Ransom, she was the daughter of Mathias Frederick and Mary Margaret (Roths) Friess. A resident of Ransom for the past 14 months, coming from La Crosse where she had lived since 1961. She was a homemaker. On Dec. 6, 1947 she married E. Leon Marvin in Wichita. He died April 10, 2004.
LARNED - Patricia L. Young, 76, died March 3 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 2, 1934 in Larned, she was the daughter of Clarence Gordon Hammond and Leora Nulf Hammond Kristufek. Moving from Rural Edwards County to Larned in 1973, she was the Administrator for Hammond Holiday Home. On Feb. 2, 1983 she married Lewis C. Young at Colorado Springs, Colo. He survives.
WELLINGTON - Evelyn Fairy DeYoe, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 24, at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehab Center in Wichita. Born Jan. 31, 1930, in Wichita, she was the daughter of William and Evalena (Fields) Gasswint.
WICHITA - Sidney J. Hughes, died on Nov. 23. He was a retired police officer with 28 years of service.
