PAWNEE ROCK - Shiela Sutton Schmidt, 100, died Jan. 26 at the Good Samaritan Center in Howard, S.D. Born Dec. 28, 1911 in Salina, she was the daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth (Smith) Sutton. She grew up in Salina, graduating from Salina High School in 1929. She earned her A. D. in History from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina in 1933 and her A. M. in music from Colorado State College of Education at Greeley in 1946. ELLINWOOD - Linda Kay Deisher, 67, of Ellinwood died on Jan. 21 in Aurora, Colo. Born Sept. 8, 1944 in Wichita, she was the daughter of Albert Meyers and Lavona Mills Meyers. A resident of Ellinwood for the past 18 months, formerly of Colorado and Las Vegas, Nev., she was a registered surgical nurse.
LARNED - Roger Alan Caldwell, 69, died Jan. 29 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. Born Jan. 12, 1943, in Tulsa, Okla., he was the son of Franklin Eugene and Lucille Hicks Caldwell. On Feb. 16, 1990, he married Charlotte Boris in Tallahassee, Fla. She died Jan. 12, 2008. He was an account executive for Fox 49, in Tallahassee, Fla.
RUSH CENTER - Leonard C. Oborny, 74, died Jan. 29 at his home in Rush Center. Born Dec. 29, 1937, in La Crosse, he was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Kladik) Oborny. In 1955 he graduated from La Crosse Rural High School. On Jan. 6, 1959, he married Alice R. Nordman at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Olmitz. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was a service tire repairman for Farmer's Co-op in Rush Center.
HUTCHINSON - Richard Alan "Rick" Michael, loving husband, father, "Papa," brother and friend, went to be with his divine savior on Jan. 28 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. Born April 14, 1952, in Lyons, he was 59. On Sept. 14, 1979, he married Tonya Jean Rojas in Hutchinson. He spent many years as an oilfield driller throughout the Midwest. LARNED - Delores June Clawson, 84, died Jan. 29 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born June 28, 1927, at Great Bend, the daughter of Joseph and Katie Rowe Koelsch. She married Virgil M. Clawson on March 24, 1955, at Newkirk, Okla. He died on Aug. 11, 2007. A longtime resident of Larned, she was a homemaker and had worked at the Old Blue Goose and Harvest Inn restaurants.
HOISINGTON - Alvina Katherine Haas, 88, died Jan. 26 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Nov. 21, 1923 in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Jacob and Salamena (Radke) Boger. On July 26, 1945 she married Rufus Haas in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, she was a homemaker and worked along side of her husband on the dairy farm. Bernard L. "Hus" Huslig, 83, died Jan. 26 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born Feb. 29, 1928 in Claflin, he was the son of Leo and Mary (Boor) Huslig. On July 23, 1949 he married Donna Joan "Jo" Rose in Great Bend. She died on Oct. 22, 2006. A resident of Great Bend for most of his life, he was a lifetime oilfield worker.

LARNED - Walter (Mac) Fox, 92, passed away May 20, 2015, at Diversicare of Larned. Born Sept. 12, 1922, in Larned, he was the son of Walter M. and Gladys Strader Fox. On Dec. 15, 1946, he married Dorothy D. Goldsmith in Wichita. She passed away on May 16, 2013. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer, worked at Larned State Hospital as the plumbing shop foreman for 32 years and also worked at Boeing for one year before going in the service.
RUSSELL - Fara Mae (Brack) Popp, 81, passed away May 17, at the Hays Medical Center. Born on July 13, 1933, on the family farm north of Otis, she was the daughter of Edwin and Phoebe (Keil) Brack. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Otis High School. On June 15, 1958, she married Paul Popp in Otis. She was a homemaker and assisted her parents on the farm when needed.
WINFIELD - Susan Marie (Feldman) Quint, 46, of Winfield, went to her Heavenly home on May 15, after a valiant fight with Brain Cancer. She was born March 19, 1969, in Great Bend to Richard and Jackye (Strother) Feldman. Susan graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Barton County Community College. She obtained an Office Manager degree from Wichita Area Vocational Technical College and an Associate Degree from Cowley County Community College in Early Childhood Education. Julia Ann Barnes, 54, died May 16, at her home in Great Bend. Born July 4, 1960, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of James R. Jr., and Joyce L. (Mohr) Lofland. On Nov. 14, 1981, she married Jeff Barnes in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was employed in retirement plan management at CPI Qualified Plan Consultants for more than 15 years.
