HUDSON - Memorial services for Marcella Ann Minden, who died on Sept. 12, 2013 at her home in Hudson, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Hudson Community Hall with the Rev. Scott Solether presiding.
Rossie Mae Lauber, 71, died Oct. 1 at her home in Great Bend. Born May 23, 1942 in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Eugene Debbs and Okla Marie (Dixon) Addington. In 1961, she married Lawrence Fredrick Rowe in Miami, Okla. They later divorced. She then married Virgil Lewis in 1971 in Great Bend. They later divorced. She then married Wilfred Patrick Lauber Sr. on Aug. 24, 1979 in Great Bend. He died on March 11, 2005. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a homecare worker for the State of Kansas.
BUSHTON - Memorial service for Ella Marie Hohl will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Bushton United Methodist Church. Marie's three daughters and families will be available to visit with friends following the service until 3 p.m.
DEERFIELD, Mo. - Neva Bunn-Hite, age 92, resident of rural Deerfield, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at her home. She was born Feb. 22, 1921 in Montevalleo, Mo. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1939 and attended Fort Scott Junior College until 1940. At the age of 19, she began teaching at Moore School in Moundville School District in a one room school with 29 students. She also taught at Hackberry School for three years. Janice Waknitz died Sept. 26 at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla. She was born April 23, 1942, at Green Forest, Ark., the daughter of John Grady and Louella (Wells) Howerton. She married Charles Waknitz Dec. 27, 1966, at Wichita. A retired 30-year school teacher, she had been a Great Bend resident since 1976, coming from Kinsley.
Duane Eldon Abel, 67, of Ellinwood, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at the Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at Buster Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. On May 16, 1929, she graduated from Bison High School. She also attended an all-girl Christian trade school in Kansas City. On June 30, 1938, she married Walter D. Marquis in Hoisington. She lived in Hoisington and Ellinwood before moving to Ogallala, Neb. in 1993 where she resided for nine years. She moved to Longmont, Colo. in 1993 living at Cinnamon Park Assisted Living.
