WICHITA - Gene Roberson, 74, passed away on June 16 surrounded by his family at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on June 17, 1936 in Great Bend. After serving in the United States Army, he spent his career as a sales representative of wholesale steel products until his retirement.
LARNED - Roy "Bill" Connelly, 69, died June 16 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born Sept. 17, 1941, in Hutchinson, he was the son of Isom Roy and Elizabeth Williams Connelly. On Feb. 14, 1964, he married Dianne Sue Davis at Atwood. A longtime area resident, he was a printer for 25 years then a Larned Juvenile Justice Authority for 21 years at the Larned State Hospital.
RICHMOND, Texas - Joseph "Joe" Alan Strobel died June 14 in Richmond Texas, under Altus Harbor Hospice Care at the age of 71. He was born March 9, 1940, in Great Bend. He married Dot Shaner on June 3, 1961, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend. In 1971 Joe graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas. His career started in Lawrence and then led him to Texas, Maryland and Saudi Arabia. His last job before his stroke was with FEMA. He truly loved his job.
ZOOK - Donna Cauble, 74, died June 16 at her home. Born June 25, 1936, in Garden City, she was the daughter of Albert and Stella McFessell Strader. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and retired interior decorator. On Nov. 22, 1953, she married Ronald Cauble in Larned. He survives.
NEWTON - Paul F. Kelly, 86, died June 15 at his Newton residence. He was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Akron, Ohio, to Lawrence and Odilia (Seegmueller) Kelly. On Dec. 23, 1989, he married Theresa Gerritzen in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Mary Ella King, 72, died at her home in Great Bend on June 11. Born June 27, 1938 in Lawrence, she was the daughter of Carol Elby and Ella Rose (Hartman) Miller. She was a 1959 graduate of the University of Kansas. On June 28, 1959 she married William T. King in Lawrence. She was a home economics and mathematics teacher at Argentine High School in the Kansas City school system. Frank E. Thurman, 65, of Great Bend, passed away on Friday evening, Dec. 5, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born Sept. 25, 1949, in Scottsbluff, Neb., he was the son of Arthur and Ethel (Deeder) Thurman. On June 29, 2000, he was united in marriage to Mary Walsh in Council Grove. A Great Bend resident since 2006, having moved here from Alta Vista, he loved NASCAR, and had a passion for fixing up old cars and spending precious time with his grandchildren.
HOISINGTON - Teresa Marie Rome, 87, died Dec. 9 at her home Hoisington. Born Oct. 23, 1927, in Odin, she was the daughter of Frank and Antoinette (Hermann) Gerritzen. In 1955, she married Norbert Joseph Rome. He died on June 6, 1981. A longtime resident of Hoisington, she worked as a dietary aide for Clara Barton Hospital. She enjoyed playing pinochle and watching her grandchildren's activities.

He was a 1948 graduate of Great Bend High School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Kansas State University in 1953. On Sept. 28, 1958, he married Loreta J. "Reta" Hill in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, Mr. Brack began work at KCKT-TV as a sales representative until February 1956, when he started work for American State Bank and Bank IV, retiring in 1991 ...
HOISINGTON - Velma H. McMillin, 90, died Dec. 4 at Via Christi Hospital, St. Francis, in Wichita. Born Jan. 20, 1924, in Melvern, she was the daughter of Oscar and Hazel (Goldsmith) Beck. On Nov. 30, 1940, she married H.D. McMillin in Ottawa. He died July 23, 1993. A resident of Hoisington since 1940, she worked as a florist for many years and she was also the co-owner of Trinkets and Treasures, an antique shop in Hoisington. She was an avid sports fan cheering for the Chiefs, Kansas University and the Green Bay Packers.
