HOISINGTON - Douglas Steinert, 62, died Nov. 12 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Oct. 15, 1950 in Russell, he was the son of Levi and La Vera (Steinert) Steinert. On Jan. 28, 1975, he married Darlene Naab in Russell. A resident of Hoisington since 1961, coming from Russell, he was employed in the oil patch and was a machinist. He loved his grandkids, hunting, fishing and camping outdoors.
Lennie "Boots" Hughbanks, 97, died Nov. 9 at Sterling House in Great Bend. Born April 17, 1915, in Newton, she was the daughter of Willard and Ellas (Stoops) Anderson. On Jan. 7, 1946, she married Hanley Gene Hughbanks in Brewton, Ala. He died on Sept. 29, 1988. A resident of Great Bend since 1968, coming from Pratt, she was employed by the JC Penney Co. as the catalog department supervisor, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pratt and was a member of the Central Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary.
LARNED - Imogene Eileen Avery Eilers, 86, died on Aug. 28 after a brief illness. Born Aug. 30, 1925 in Larned, she was the daughter of Brian Jennings Avery and Edna May Keller Avery Buhrer. In 1945, she married August E. Eilers from Missouri. They divorced in 1958. A resident of Larned for 30 years, she was employed at Larned State Hospital, retiring in 1986. She moved to Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and to Hawthorne, Fla. in 1999.
OLATHE - Aaron Richard Cobb, 21, of Olathe, passed away Nov. 9, in Rolla Mo. due to injuries from a car accident. Born Jan. 27, 1991, he was the son of Richard and Stacy Cobb. He was a 2009 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas. Aaron excelled in soccer and went on to play for the Kansas City Wizards/Sporting K.C. with Paul Rideout and was said to be an outstanding and hardworking player by his coaches. NESS CITY - Blanche Margaret Pfannenstiel, 96, died Nov. 8, at her home in the Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home, Hebron, Neb. She was born Oct. 21, 1916, the daughter of Hugh and Ethel Phleger Corrigan. On May 16, 1985, she married Adolf P. Pfannenstiel in Ness City. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1985. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Ness County until she moved to Hebron in 2010.
JoAnn Cameron, 87, died Nov. 10 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1925, at Tonkawa, Okla., the daughter of William David and Olive DeLyte (McNeil) Rowe. She married Fred Lorn Cameron on Dec. 25, 1943, at Dodge City. He died June 22, 1987. JoAnn was a Great Bend resident since 1962, coming from Ponca City, Okla. She was a Nurse's Aide and lab tech for St. Rose Hospital and CKMC. She also worked for Great Bend Music. She enjoyed playing the organ during the holiday season at JC Penney.
GODDARD - John W. Workman, 75, died Nov. 8 in Wichita. Born Sept. 22, 1937, in Minot, N.D., he was the son of Arthur Workman and Olga Knudtson. A former resident of Great Bend, he was a retired law enforcement officer.
HOISINGTON - Willis Stoskopf, 95, died Nov. 4 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 2, 1917 in Beaver, he was the son of Frank and Mary (Hull) Stoskopf. On July 10, 1938 he married Elizabeth McKinstry in Hagerman, N.M. A lifelong resident of Hoisington, he was a retired farmer. He enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends at the coffee shop and playing cards and bingo.
ROZEL - Barbara J. Bradford, 72, died Nov. 3 at home. Born July 17, 1940 in Hutchinson, she was the daughter of Thomas Virgil and Violet Marie Waggoner Murphy. In 1958 she graduated from Hutchinson High School. On Jan. 4, 1964 she married Clarence LeRoy Bradford, in Hutchinson. She retired from Larned State Hospital as a Dietary Supervisor in 2003.
Sister Louella Staab, 81, died Nov. 4 at the Dominican Sisters' convent infirmary in Great Bend. Born Oct. 8, 1931, in Catherine as Maybell Ann Catherine Staab, Sister Louella was the daughter of the late Alexius and Celestine (Weigel) Staab. She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community in Great Bend on Dec. 6, 1953, and pronounced her first vows on June 13, 1956. She celebrated 50 years of religious profession in 2006. Sister Louella ministered from 1956 to 1968 in the hospital offices of St. Joseph Memorial in Larned, St. Rose in Great Bend, Sacred Heart in Lamar, Colo., St. Catherine ...
BURDETT - James "Jim" Henry Nuckolls, 85, died Nov. 3 at Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. Born Aug. 11, 1927, in rural Burdett, he was the son of Joseph Charles and Elsie G. Winter Nuckolls. A life time resident of Burdett he was a retired farmer and custodian at Pawnee Heights High School. He married Helen J. Miller. She preceded him in death.
ELLINWOOD - Edward H. Isern, 70, died Oct. 31 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Sept. 28, 1942, in Great Bend, he was the son of Edward H. and Marian Moses Isern. He was a 1960 graduate of Ellinwood High School, attended the University of Kansas, was a graduate of Western New Mexico and studied at the University of Colorado. On April 20, 1991, he married Marianne Newcombe at Colorado Springs, Colo. A longtime resident of Ellinwood, formerly of Boulder, Colo., he was a retired Realtor.
