HOISINGTON - Lea (Steitz) Lehmann, 96, died April 26 at Country Place Senior Living in Hoisington. Born April 16, 1915 in Otis, she was the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Brack) Steitz. On Aug. 23, 1936 she married Martin F. Lehmann in Otis. He died Sept. 12, 2005. A long-time resident of Hoisington, coming from Otis, she was a homemaker.
LACROSSE - Mildred L. Carper Ideker, 84, died April 27 at the Rush County Hospital Long Care in LaCrosse. Born Aug. 9, 1926 in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of Rueben and Bertha (Bercy) Beach. She was a graduate of Eureka High School. A resident of Rush County for more than 50 years, she was the owner of Carper Drug in LaCrosse from 1956 to 1968.
PAXICO - Lewis E. Massie, 87, died April 24 at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka. Born June 3, 1923, at Highland County,Iowa, he was the son of John R. and Mary Hawk Massie. He was married to Vera Massie. She preceded him in death. He later married Andrea Diane Nienhuis. A resident of Kansas many years, he spent the past several years in Paxico. He had worked construction, was a truck driver and had owned and operated a service station.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Melissa G. Clark, 50, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Hoisington, passed away Easter Sunday, April 24, at the Pin Oak Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, Mo. Born Sept. 20, 1960, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of William "Bill" and Wilma (Willson) Meljo. A 1978 graduate of Hoisington High School, she received her Registered Nurse degree from Barton Community College in Great Bend. She was employed at Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo., as a pediatric nurse.

ELLINWOOD - Mildred Schiewe Holmgren, 93, died April 27 at Sunshine Home in Buhler. She was born Dec. 11, 1917, at Ellinwood, the daughter of Reinhold Schiewe and Adella Panning. She married Louis John Schiewe Sept. 6, 1943, at Paducah, Ky. He died July 6, 1962. She then married Eldred M. ("Swede") Holmgren on Oct. 18, 1969, in Ellinwood. He died Feb. 8, 1982.

AURORA, Colo. - Laura Harrell Arbuckle, 41 of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Larned passed away Saturday, April 23. She was born April 30, 1969, at Pratt, the daughter of Jon and Cheryl Harrell. She graduated from Larned High School in 1987, and later attended Friends University. She married Curtis Arbuckle on Aug. 21, 1991.
ARKANSAS CITY - Florence C. (Maloney) Walter-McDermott, 74, of Arkansas City, formerly of Great Bend, died Monday at Sterling House of Arkansas City. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
MCPHERSON - Kathleen M. Honomichl, 89, died April 24 at Memorial Hospital in McPherson. Born on Nov. 16, 1921, in Langley, she was the daughter of Edward W. and Beatrice J. (Allen) Buffington. She graduated from Marquette High School. On Feb. 4, 1957, she married Miles Lou Honomichl. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2001. She was a retired office manager for Cablevision in McPherson.
WICHITA - Shirley A. Waldroupe, 66, died April 24 at the Harry Hines Memorial Hospice Center-Via Christi in Wichita. Born April 24, 1945 in rural Rush County, she was the daughter of Leon Henry and Florence (Pfeifer) Matal. She graduated from Bison High School. A resident of Wichita for seven years, moving from Great Bend, she was a motor route carrier for the Great Bend Tribune and owner of T&J Bait and Tackle in Great Bend with her husband.
Mildred F. Sweeden, 85, died April 23 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born June 3, 1925, at Yale, Okla., the daughter of John B. and Anna (Bachalor) Lanning. She married Alvin M. Sweeden Sr. on April 3, 1946, at Stillwater, Okla. He died April 27, 1991. A Great Bend resident for most of her life, she was a homemaker.
KANSAS CITY, MO. - Joseph G. Buehler, 73, a resident of Kansas City, Mo., passed away from complications of Parkinson's disease on April 21 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Holyrood on Dec. 7, 1937, to Carl and Georgia (Dressler) Buehler. He was a graduate of Claflin High School. In 1959, he married Darlene Redetzke in Dubuque.
Cleo May Barton died April 22 at her home in Great Bend. Born in Moscow, Kan., she was the daughter of Roy A. and Bessie E. (Stevens) May. She married C. E. "Clem" Barton on Feb. 14, 1941, at Cimarron. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. He died Dec. 9, 2002. A Great Bend resident since 1951, coming from Dodge City, she was a homemaker.
WICHITA - Beatrice "Bea" Bissing, 98, entered eternal life on April 20, 2011. She passed away in Denver, Colo., where she has been living since 2001.

SHERWOOD SHORES, Texas - Eva Mae Skinner, 88, died on Nov. 7, at Sherwood Shores (Lake Texoma), Texas. She was born on Jan. 9, 1926, in Great Bend, one of eight children of Isaac William and Ethel (Booze) Root. Her parents operated a feed and poultry store on Main Street in Great Bend. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1944 and was employed by the telephone company in Great Bend and later as a bookkeeper. She married Dewey Lee Skinner on May 19, 1946 in Great Bend. Pauline Wagner, 90, died Nov. 9, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Dec. 27, 1923, in Ellis, she was the daughter of Joe and Agatha (Gaschler) Weber. She married Gilbert Aloysius Orth Sr. He later died. On Sept. 13, 1968, she married Daylon John Wagner in Cheyenne Wells, Colo. He died on March 26, 1994. A Great Bend resident since 1969, coming from Hays, she was a beautician.
Irvin E. Burton, 87, passed away on Sunday morning, Nov. 9, at his home in Great Bend. Born on July 29, 1927, in rural Hoisington, he was the son of Walter and Myrtle (Bradshaw) Burton. On Sept. 24, 1988 he was united in marriage to Betty Jo Byerly in Great Bend. Irvin was a route salesman for Dr. Pepper, Schlitz Beer, and Guy's Potato Chips for many years until his retirement, and worked several part-time jobs after he retired. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, antique John Deere tractors, and he dearly loved his dog, Molly.
