Dean Wells, 80, died March 17 at Central Kansas Medical Center, in Great Bend. Born March 26, 1930, at Carmen, Okla., he was the son of Rene and Thelma Jayne (Rhea) Wells.
ELLINWOOD - Oliver Bryant Jr., 86, died March 15 at the Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Jan. 23, 1925, in rural Ellinwood, he was the son of Oliver Ray Bryant and Rosa W. Burchart Bryant. He graduated from Ellinwood High School. On Sept. 2, 1949, he married Patricia Joelene Cossman in Larned. A lifetime resident of rural Ellinwood, he was a retired farmer.
BLACK CREEK, Wis. - Jerry A. Williams, 55, died March 3 in Black Creek, Wis., after a long battle with cancer.
BUSHTON - Dean Carter, 76, died March 13 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
VALLEY CENTER - Joe Lynn Wheat, 80, of Valley Center, formerly of Great Bend and Pittsburg, retired Joe's Welding owner, beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, passed away March 8. He was born in Blytheville, Ark., to William Isaac Wheat and Ollie Marie (Epperson) Wheat.
Lela Moore, 97, of Great Bend, died March 13 at the Central Kansas Medical Center.
ST. JOHN - Ron DeVore, 55, died March 13 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Aug. 3, 1955, in St. John, the son of Ronnie W. and Patricia J. (Sayler) DeVore. He was a cowboy and lifelong resident of St. John, graduating from St. John High School in 1973.
CENTRALIA, WASH. - Centralia resident Kelly Jean Phelps died at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash., on March 9, after a long battle with breast cancer.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Christopher Louis Divis was born July 31, 1984, at Sioux City, Iowa. He was confirmed April 26, 1998, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. Chris attended Maple Valley Anthon-Oto High School and graduated in the class of 2002. While in high school, he worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide, and most recently was training to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at Western Iowa Technical Community College. WICHITA - Randall Eugene Oliver, 89, passed away March 11 at Lakewood Senior Living Center in Wichita. He was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Madison, the son of Willis Monroe and Amy Freelove Holland Oliver. He graduated from Madison High School in 1939. He retired from the U. S. Navy and had served during World War II in the Pacific.

Sister Malachy Stockemer, 84, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in the Dominican Sisters convent infirmary in Great Bend.
LARNED - Vern Arlyn Steffen, 83, passed away Sept. 12, 2014, at his home in Larned.
HOLYROOD - Mark Lynn Folk, 56, passed away of an aneurism Sept. 11, at his residence in Holyrood. He was born March 10, 1958, in Ellsworth to Max and Beverly (Cron) Folk. A lifetime resident of Holyrood, he was a bookkeeper and office manager for Folk Well and Lease.
Carol Ann Cook, 71, died Sept. 11, at home in Great Bend. She was born March 1, 1943, at Kinsley, to Bernard and Daisy (Goad) Fahlsing. She married Charles Banks in 1961. She later married Phillip Ward in 1976. She then married Dennis Cook on Aug. 11, 2003, at Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked in retail for Revco and Dillons until retiring.

Herman Boyd "Sonny" Crockett was born to Herman Delbert and Lois Maurice (King) Crockett in Morton, Texas on Dec. 15, 1940. He died on Monday, Sept. 8, in Woodward, Okla.
Jeanne Louise Schmitt, 70, died Sept. 6, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Aug. 31, 1944, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Raymond Chandler and Helen Ruth (Westin) Muret. On May 30, 1969, she married Terryl "Terry" Keith Schmitt in Manhattan. He died on Aug. 17, 2006. A Great Bend resident since 1978, coming from Hoisington where she had lived since 1969, she was an Extension Agent in Belleville, then a dietician for the Clara Barton Hospital. She retired as a secretary for Central Baptist Church in Great Bend.
PAWNEE ROCK - Kimberly A. Hayward, 46, passed away Sept. 7, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born Sept. 22, 1967, in El Cajon, Calif., she was the daughter of Howard M. and Dora Prince Hayward. A longtime area resident, she was a home health nurse.
