David Dean Seyfert, 39, died March 23 at his residence. Born July 5, 1971 in Great Bend, he was the son of Dale D. and Shirley R. (Smith) Seyfert. A resident of Great Bend for 20 years, coming from the farm north of Claflin, he was a small engine repairman for Carr Auto and Electronics. His hobbies were working on mowers, chain saws or any small engine repair.
ELLINWOOD - Ruth E. Banks, 96, died March 22 at the Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Dec. 18, 1914 in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Frank Tullis and Beary Mustain Tullis Waddle. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, she was a retired telephone operator and homemaker. On Aug. 8, 1937 she married Harry French. On March 5, 1948 she married C.W. Schnurr. On May 26, 1972 she married W.F. (Bill) Banks. All preceded her in death.

BARNARD, Mo. - May Joan Field Tompkins, 88, of Barnard, Mo., passed away March 20, at Parkdale Manor in Maryville, Mo. Born May 14, 1922, in Brentford, England, she was the daughter of Herbert and Fanny (Ricks) Field. She worked in a munitions plant during World War II, making shell casings. Joan married Raymond Lee Tompkins on Feb. 5, 1944, in St. Lawrence Church of England, Brentford, England, becoming a "War Bride." Robert "Bobby" Kasper Jr., 34, died March 18 in Barton County. Born Oct. 16, 1976, in Wichita, he was the son of Robert Wayne and Peggy (Lietzke) Kasper Sr. A resident of Great Bend since 1980, coming from El Dorado, he was a truck driver for Sioux Tank Service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag racing, motorcycle riding and automotive work.

Paul E. Dyer, 84, died Oct. 8 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 20, 1930, in Great Bend, he was the son of Homer and Katherine (Jones) Dyer. On Jan. 4, 1954, he married Julitta M. Elsen, in Great Bend. She died on March 12, 1995. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.
John D. Trimmer, 65, of Great Bend and formerly of Pawnee Rock and Dundee, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born on Feb. 11, 1949, at Belleville, to George Franklin and Edna Alene (Larr) Trimmer. He graduated from Republic County Schools in 1965 and was united in marriage to Diana Levingston on June 10, 1976, at Pawnee Rock. She died on July 22, 2013. John worked as a chain hand in the oilfield prior to his retirement. He enjoyed rock collecting, watching wrestling and spending time with family.

She graduated high school in Fredonia. She was a convenience store manager for 30 years. On June 28, 1970, she married Larry Franks in Fredonia. Born Viola Mae Wimmer on July 25, 1915, in Harlan, she was the daughter of Harvey Lester and Mary Ann Zion Wimmer. She graduated from Portis High School, attended college at York College for two years, then finished her teaching education at Fort Hays State University.
