FORT WORTH, Texas - The Lord called Engle Scott, a retired U.S. Army colonel, home on Nov. 14, 2011. Engle Wayne Scott was born in Larned, on Jan. 20, 1937, the youngest of eight children of Silvey West Scott and Dixie Shumate Scott. Until the age of 5, he lived in Ash Valley, where his father was a grain elevator and feed store manager. During World War II, his family moved to Great Bend, where he graduated from high school in 1955. Kathleen Kimpler, 85, died Nov. 15 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 8, 1926 in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of George Peter and Mary Ann (Kramer) Kimpler. A resident of Great bend since 1975, coming from Ellinwood, she was a principal and teacher in the Wichita and Dodge City Diocese Catholic Schools for 34 years.
COLUMBUS - Mary Cunningham Minott, 95, died Nov. 14 at Kansas Soldiers Nursing Home in Fort Dodge. Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Carterville, Mo., she was the daughter of R.W. and Effie R. Cook Cunningham. She was a resident of Fort Dodge for several years, previously of Larned and Columbus.
LEAWOOD - Debra Ann Rumble, 56, died Nov. 8 at her home in Leawood. Born May 20, 1955, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of Robert G. and Jean E. (Antenen) Rumble. Growing up in Great Bend, she was a graduate of Great Bend High School and obtained her Master of Library Science degree from Kansas State University. A resident of Leawood, she was a retired librarian for the Turner School District. Debbie was devoted to her cats, Maddie and Murphy, who along with her family and friends will miss her.
