Allison Starr Dec. 20, 1946, at Colby. He died July 3, 1981. She was a lifetime Raymond resident and a homemaker. She graduated from Raymond High School and attended Kansas State University.

Helen Marie Weese, 80, died Dec. 3, 2010 at her Great Bend, Kansas, home. She was born June 2, 1930, at Pratt, the daughter of Lee and Mabel (Kilgore) Miller. She Married Calvin Levi Weese Oct. 24, 1948 at Pratt. He died Oct. 22, 2002. A Great Bend resident since 1955 coming from Pratt. Mrs. Weese was a Certified Medical Aide for 32 years at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Great Bend.
ERIE - William E. "Bill" George, 92, longtime Erie resident, died Dec. 2 in the emergency room of Labette Health in Parsons. He was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Erie, to Fred and Edith (Heady) George. He graduated from Erie High School in 1937, from Parsons Junior College in 1941 and from Pittsburg State University in 1941.
LARNED - Mary Elizabeth Hewson, 88, died unexpectedly at home in rural Larned, on Nov. 30. She was born on November 5, 1922 in Larned. She attended Larned schools and graduated in 1940 from Larned High School. She was a 1948 graduate of Kansas State University with a dual degree in secondary education and psychology.
Donald W. "Don" Shorock, 66, died Dec. 2, 2010 at his Great Bend home. He was born June 7, 1944 at Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of Walter and Isobel (McCutcheon) Shorock. TOPEKA -Robert Edward Lee, 66, Topeka, died Nov. 30. Bob was born June 10, 1944, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Schubert and Loreen Martin Lee. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1962. He was employed by Kansas Gas Service Co., was a car salesman, an auctioneer, worked for Famous Brands and was an Auburn-Washburn school bus driver. Bob was an avid athlete. He played softball for many years and loved to play golf. He had a special place in his heart for his animals.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Kenneth E. Kaiser, 91, passed away Jan. 13, in Crete, Neb. He was born Nov. 21, 1922 in Shaffer, the son of John and Rachel (Hanhardt) Kaiser.
HOISINGTON -Merle Steiner, 81, of Hoisington died Monday, March 3 at Golden Living Center in Wakefield. He was born Nov. 14, 1932 at Odin, the son of Louis and Lenora (Ummel) Steiner.
LARNED - Barbara J. Erway, 70, died March 2, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born April 5, 1943, in Sumiton, Ala., she was the daughter of Houston and Lilly Fortenberry Greathouse. Moving from Alabama in 1956, she was a longtime area resident of Larned and a Registered Nurse at Larned State Hospital. On June 13, 1962, she married Leonard L. Erway in Larned. He survives. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, going on camping trips and traveling.
LINCOLN - James William Grandy, 63, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on March 1, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. He was born Dec. 29, 1950, in Great Bend, the son of the late Iva Mae (Vesper) and Harold Lee Grandy.
Barb Schumacher, 74, died Feb. 27 at the Hays Medical Center. Born Jan. 8, 1940, in Ness City, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Pearlann (Reynolds) Petersilie. On Dec. 5, 1981, she married Ken Schumacher in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend since 1957, coming from Bazine, she was co-owner and operator of Kansas Door, worked in several flower shops, was an administrative secretary at Fuller Brush and was an Avon representative for 20 years. She enjoyed fishing, water sports and traveling, especially, wintering in Texas. Her true love was spending time with her grandchildren.
Neuell G. Nicolet, 91, formerly of Great Bend, passed away Feb. 27 in Augusta. Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Great Bend, he was the son of the late Ed and Inez (Gaunt) Nicolet. In 1941, he graduated from Great Bend High School. He was a retired farmer.
John E. Taylor, 85, died Feb. 27 at Great Bend Regional Hospital.
Orval E. Weeks, 86, died Feb. 26 at Sterling House in Great Bend. Born May 16, 1927, in Russell County, he was the son of Marion B. and Edith I. (Ross) Weeks. On March 20, 1949 Orval married Virginia L. Campbell in Hoisington. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2005.
ELLIS - Eileen B. Wittman, 86, died Feb. 25 at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. Born June 27, 1927, in Ellis, she was the daughter of George and Bernice (Coleman) Matteson. She attended school in Ellis, graduating from Ellis High School in 1945. She also attended Colorado Women's College in Denver for one year. On Nov. 7, 1948, she married Lawrence Wittman.
