Tonda Lee McAvoy, 59, died May 18 at Woodside Hospice House in Pinellas Park, Fla. Born Sept. 18, 1951 in Johnson, she was the daughter of Pearl and Vanonda Mae (Wise) Miner. On April 2, 2010 she married Terry Lee McAvoy in Pinellas Park, Fla. She was a resident of Largo, Fla. since 2010, coming from Great Bend, formerly residing in WaKeeney and Dallas, Texas. She was a nurse for 25 years and a coast-to-coast truck driver for five years.

ST. JOHN - Linda S. Gleason, 56, died May 24 in rural Stafford County. Born March 24, 1955, in Belleville, she was the daughter of Kenneth E. and Shirley J. (Kindler) Reynolds. A resident of St. John since 1985, she was a teacher for the USD 350 St. John-Hudson school system, a 1973 graduate of Galesburg High School in Galesburg, Ill., and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Western Illinois University. She also worked for the Stafford County Extension Service in St. John.

WICHITA - Maxton Foster Burkey, two months, died May 26 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born March 31, 2011 at Wichita. His parents are Kevin and Kelci (Boxberger) Burkey of Wichita. Although his life was cheated in time, he immensely impacted the lives of his loving family. Always squirming, he enjoyed baths, having his hair brushed, and snuggling with his mommy and daddy. He was a very happy, content baby of God.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1926, in Hoisington, to Duke and Opal (Sypolt) Van Brimmer. Karen was a 1944 graduate of Hoisington High School and attended Wichita State University for two years. RUSSELL - Richard Henry Dumler, 88, found peace on Oct. 14, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. At the time of his death, he lived at Rose Estates assisted living in Overland Park. Born on April 19, 1926, in Russell, he was the son of Henry and Agnes Dumler. His mother later married Ted Gariepy. He attended high school in Russell, where he was a sports star. There he met cheerleader Betty Joanne Kilian. He entered the service in 1944, serving in the United States Army Air Force until 1945. He married Betty Jo on June 1, 1947.
