HOISINGTON - Mary Catherine Weeks, 83, died Nov. 2 at her home in Hoisington. Born Jan. 5, 1928 in Dubuque, she was the daughter of Henry and Philomena (Eckart) Casey. On June 4, 1947 she married John E. Weeks in Dubuque. He died Dec. 22, 1990. A resident of Hoisington since 1952, coming from Russell and Ellinwood, she was an administrative assistant for Barton Community College, office manager for Roxana Oil and was employed at Verna's Clothing in Hoisington.
LARNED - Virgie J. Rector, 79, passed away Nov. 2 at Larned Healthcare Center. Born Oct. 1, 1932, she was the daughter of Charles T. Dalton Sr. and Alta Leatherman. A Larned resident since 1975, moving from Dodge City, she was a Licensed Mental Health Aide for the Larned State Hospital. On April 15, 1948, she married John G. Rector in Cimmaron. He passed away April 29, 1996.
KINGMAN - Buddy Ray Messick, 76, died Oct. 28 at his home in Kingman, with his wife and children by his side. Born Oct. 28, 1935, near Raymond, he was the son of Clarence and Dora Belle Hughbanks Messick. A Kingman resident since 1984, previously of the Raymond, Lyons and Claflin communities, he was a retired oil field employee.
ANNA, Texas - Dr. William Lawrence Smith Jr., 89, of Anna, Texas, passed away on Oct. 15. He was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Stafford, to William Lawrence Smith Sr. and Elsie Fern (Carr) Smith. On June 21, 1943, he married Nadine Lorene Block, in Martinez, Calif.
RUSH CENTER - Dotty Ann Kober, 83, died July 13, 2015, at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. Born Sept. 19, 1931, in Rush Center, she was the daughter of Ernest G. and Zelma Mae (Moore) Hallett. In 1953, she married John B. Kober. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1990. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County. A 1949 graduate of La Crosse High School, she was a farmer. She also worked for Locust Grove Village in La Crosse for many years.
ODIN - Anna M. Hitschmann, 95, died July 14, 2015, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 31, 1919, on the farm near Odin, Kansas, the daughter of Peter J. and Louisa (Korkisch) Meyeres.
ELLINWOOD - Edna Claudine Ringwald, 83, died on July 11, 2015, in Great Bend. Born Aug. 15, 1931, at the family home in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Claude and Alice (Lovely) Ewalt. On May 18, 1952, she married Reinder Carl Ringwald in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2015. A lifetime resident of rural Rice County and Ellinwood, she was a housewife and actively participated with her beloved husband in their farming and livestock operation.
ALBERT- Judith J. Hrymecki, 74, passed away at her home in Albert on Sunday evening, July 12, 2015. Born Jan. 9, 1941, at White Heath, Ill., she was the daughter of Robert Dwight and Nannie Elizabeth (Parker) Robinson. On Dec. 14, 1979, she was united in marriage to John J. Hrymecki at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakley, Mich. The couple made their home in Chapin, Mich., for 15 years and then in Owosso, Mich., for 15 years prior to moving to Albert in 2009. While in Michigan, Judith worked for Universal Electric, Woodards Furniture and Ovid Convalescent Home.
Richard Alton Miller, 43, died July 13, 2015, at his home in Great Bend. Born May 31, 1972, in Long Beach, Calif., he was the son of Donald and Mary Lou Miller. He was supervisor of Campus Security at Barton Community College.
Roxie Bernice Swinger, 94, died on June 24, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on April 4, 1921, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., she was the daughter of Alonso Noel Trent and Amy Garrett Trent. On July 20, 1940, she married Jack E. Swinger in Wichita.
STAFFORD - M. Sharon Chansler, 84, went to be with the Lord July 11, 2015, at Leisure Homestead in St. John. Born Dec. 13, 1930, at Eureka, she was the daughter of Emmett and Masil McDaniel Hall. A 1948 graduate of Langdon High School, she also attended Adalahale Business College in Hutchinson. On Dec. 24, 1950, she married Paul W. Chansler while Paul was on leave while serving with the United States Army. They were married for over 64 years. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker and business partner with her husband in Paul's Grocery of Stafford ...
CHASE - Phillip Lee Bryant, 63, of rural Chase, passed away July 11, 2015. Born Jan. 15, 1952, in Great Bend, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy Bryant. On May 5, 1972, he married Teresa Malea Campbell in Lyons. They were married 37 years. She passed away on Nov. 15, 2009. He was employed by Silica Grain for 32 years. He was currently employed with Ellinwood Tank Service. He loved spending every minute with his family. He also enjoyed taking his grandson on trips and spending lots of time with him.
