KANOPOLIS - Judith "Judy" Allen Bunch Maddox Schroeder, 71, Kanopolis, died Feb. 27. There will be no services but a celebration of Judy's life will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Community Center in Kanopolis beginning at approximately 11 a.m. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.
Rock Wayne Becker, 50, died Feb. 26 as a result of an automobile accident. Born Sept. 14, 1960, he was the son of Wayne and Karen (Brenner) Becker. On Dec. 31, 2006, he married Ivy Buhrle in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was president of WHB Inc. and a director and part owner of Becker Tire.
HAYS - Roger A. Gray, 73, died Feb. 25, peacefully at his home with the loving care of his wife and Hospice of Hays Medical Center.
KINSLEY - Marcielle Parker, 90, died Feb. 24 at Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. She was born Aug. 21, 1920, at Kinsley, the daughter of Charles E. and Eva Hildenbrand Countryman. She married Robert L. Parker in September of 1967 at Elkhart. He died Dec. 25, 2004. A resident of Kinsley, she was a teacher.
MCPHERSON -Virginia Edna Saling-Marx, 85, of McPherson, passed away Monday, Feb. 21 while in the company of family members at Hospice House, Hutchinson. Mrs Marx was born in Bazine on Oct. 14, 1925, the daughter of George and Lizzie (Dell) Stieben - Adolph. Virginia attended the Bazine grade schools and attended Bazine High School, Bazine, Kansas.
Harbey Fanshier, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 24, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 7, 1924, at Stafford County, the son of Charles and Martha (Fischer) Fanshier.
EDMOND, Okla. - Elsie Keil Herber, 95, died on Feb. 16, at Edmond, Okla. She was born Dec. 5, 1915, at Galatia, the daughter of Benjamin and Bertha Strecker Keil. She grew up and attended school in the Galatia, Milberger area. She worked for many years as a housekeeper in Russell. On May 9, 1970, she married Raymond Herber and they resided in Wilson, until his death on November 14, 1992. After his death, she moved to Edmond, Okla. to be close to her son and his family.
GREAT BEND - William "Bill" Feist, 78, died Feb. 23 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born May 2, 1932 near Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Barton County, the son of Conrad and Viola (Liebl) Feist.
LARNED -Jaxson Douglas Snodgrass, infant son, died Feb. 22, 2011, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.
LARNED - Lloyd George Lewis, 92, known to many friends and family as "Bus," died Monday afternoon at Hays Regional Medical Center, after suffering a heart attack earlier in the day. Lloyd would have been 93 April 27. The previous Saturday Lloyd had driven to his son's and daughter-in-law's homes to watch his favorite team, the Kansas Jayhawks, play the Colorado Buffaloes.

HAYS – Alex Fredrick Bisterfeldt, age 90, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at the Hays Good Samaritan Center, Hays,. He was born May 21, 1920, in rural Ellsworth County to Carl and Dorothea (Funk) Bisterfeldt. He married Theresa (Short) on Oct.26, 1946, at Hays. She died Septe. 9, 2000.
Kent Darrell Hoss, 57, died Feb. 20 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center after a three battle with cancer. Born June 29, 1953 in Great Bend, he was the son of Paul and Dorothy Alice (Hall) Hoss. A resident of Great Bend most of his life, he was a carpenter and roofer.
LARNED - Dale Otte, 76, passed away Oct. 17, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Jan. 4, 1938, in Great Bend, he was the son of Wilmer and Leah Dorfshaffer Otte. A longtime area resident he was a farmer/stockman. On Sept. 16, 1956, he married Karen Rice in Great Bend. She survives.

PAWNEE ROCK - Laura Jean Miller, 86, passed away Oct. 9, at her home in Pawnee Rock. Born June 19, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the daughter of Horace B. and Laura Crawford Rogers. On April 28, 1992, she married Edward W. Miller in Littleton, Colo. He passed away on Nov. 27, 2008. She was a homemaker.
ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - John Richard Stiff Sr. passed away on Monday, October 13. John was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on May 23, 1933, and worked briefly in the Merchant Marines before beginning a distinguished career in the industrial gas business. Beginning with a hydrogen plant in Painesville, Ohio in 1957, John was involved in a number of national and international helium projects where he earned a reputation as the foremost expert in the production of helium. RUSSELL - Richard Henry Dumler, 88, found peace on Oct. 14, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. At the time of his death, he lived at Rose Estates assisted living in Overland Park. Born on April 19, 1926, in Russell, he was the son of Henry and Agnes Dumler. His mother later married Ted Gariepy. He attended high school in Russell, where he was a sports star. There he met cheerleader Betty Joanne Kilian. He entered the service in 1944, serving in the United States Army Air Force until 1945. He married Betty Jo on June 1, 1947.

Reymundo Martinez, 27, passed away on Oct. 11, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on Dec. 29, 1986, in Garden City, he was the son of Martin Martinez and Lupe (Rubio) Martinez. He moved to Great Bend, at an early age and worked construction with his godfather, Arturo Escamilla.
BURWELL, NEB. - Donitta Ann Conrad, 50, of Burwell, Neb. died on Oct. 11, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Jan. 13, 1964, in Ransom, she was the daughter of Donald and Ruby (Armer) Popp. She attended elementary school at Pawnee Rock, and in 1982, graduated from Hoisington High School. WICHITA - Bashor, C. LeRoy, 74, passed away on Oct. 11. He was a proud Vietnam veteran serving 10 years in the United States Navy. Following the military he graduated Fort Hays State University with a master's degree in psychology. He was a retired school psychologist for USD 428 in Great Bend.
Nadine Dreiling, 81, died Oct. 10, at Hays Medical Center. Born June 25, 1933, in Neck City, Mo., she was the daughter of George and Vera (Sargent) Moore. On Oct. 2, 1954, she married Donald A. Dreiling in Chase. He died on Nov. 11, 2010. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, coming from Chase, she and her husband owned and operated Don's Food Mart and she retired from Dillon's Pharmacy. She loved her grandchildren and watching sports, especially the University of Kansas Jayhawks and New York Yankees.
WINFIELD - Donald M. "Don" Kline, 87, of Winfield, passed away on Oct. 11, at Cumbernauld Village. Born Aug. 29, 1927, in Wichita, he was the son of Arthur C. and Martha H. (Harris) Kline. He was raised and educated in the Marion and Great Bend areas. Don left school prior to graduation to join the United States Navy. He proudly served his country on the USS Monrovia as a Medical Corpsman from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1949. HOISINGTON - George L. Carson, 71, died Aug. 30, at Clara Barton Hospital. Born July 18, 1943 in Great Bend, he was the son of Russell and Pearl (Smith) Carson. On March 3, 1967, he married Gloria Newell in Damar. He was a graduate of Fort Hays State University. A lifetime resident of rural Barton County, he was employed by the Kansas Fish and Game Commission as a biologist.
