ELLINWOOD - F. William (Bill) Koop, 91, died July 7 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Nov. 5, 1919, near Mitchell, S.D., he was the son of Ferdinand and Mary Winter Koop. In 1937, he graduated from Mitchell High School in Mitchell, S.D. In 1948 and 1950 he graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Washington, Seattle. He was awarded a Carnegie Fellowship in 1949.
GARDEN CITY - Jessica Cheyanne Shearer (Potter), 15, of Garden City, former resident of Sublette, died on July 4 in Great Bend. Born Feb. 19, 1996, in La Junta, Colo., she was the daughter of Stephen Shearer and Alida Dawn Shriver.
PAWNEE ROCK - John L. "Jack" Link, 74, died July 5, 2011 in Barton County.
GREAT BEND - Mabel Emilie Ankerholz, 93, died July 6, 2011 at the Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
SEWARD -Billy G. Owen, 71, died July 3 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born July 8, 1939 at Great Bend, the son of William and Alberta (McNett) Owen.
Billy G. Owen died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Via Christi/St. Francis in Wichita. Funeral arrangements are pending with Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend.
OLMITZ – Arthur J. "Art" Maneth, 66, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. Born July 13, 1944 at Hoisington, he was the son of Arthur F. and Mary (Busch) Maneth.

Etta "Jane" Akings, 84, died June 28 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. She was born Aug. 9, 1926 at Barnsdall, Okla., the daughter of John Oliver and Julia Ava Anthony. Jane married Landon Fletcher Akings July 29, 1944. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Akings was a resident of Great Bend since 2003, coming from Olathe. She and Landon owned the Oxford Place Steak House in Olathe for 30 years. She was also a cook for the Galatia school district from 1955 to 1964.
Theresa Stanley, 73, of Great Bend, died April 19, 2015, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. She was born Oct 3, 1941, at La Crosse, to Henry and Mathilda (Heronema) Basgall. She graduated from La Crosse High School and was united in marriage to William Stanley in 1961 at La Crosse. She worked as a cook for many Great Bend area eating establishments, including JC Penney, A & W, Central Kansas Medical Center, the Petroleum Club, Barton Community College, Black Angus and the Great Bend Senior Center prior to her retirement in 2000.
SEWARD - Ronald Lee Reneau, 57, passed away April 13, 2015 at the University of Colorado Hospital. He was born on Dec. 13, 1957, in Kiowa. He lived most of his life in the Hudson, St John and Seward area. He joined US Navy right after high school graduation and spent time in the Philippines, Japan and Hawaiian Islands. He trained with the United States Navy Seals as their Assault Coxman.
RADIUM - Marvin Leroy Brown, 75, passed away April 19, at his home in Radium. Born July 8, 1939, in Great Bend, he was the son of J.P. and Frances (Ward) Brown. A resident of Radium since 1985, he was a welder. On Feb. 14, 1985, he married Lana C. (Mettscher) in Kansas City, MO. She survives of the home.
HAYS - Ethel Jonas, 91, died April 20 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. Services are pending and will be announced at a later date by Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, KS.
Maurice J. Damm, 81, died April 19 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. Born June 17, 1933 at Great Bend, he was the son of Hugo L. and Louise (Shepherd) Damm.

HOISINGTON – Helen Margaret (Penka) Kalina, daughter of Emil and Hedwig (Heger) Penka, died Dec. 11, 2014, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.

ST. JOHN - Norma Lea Gray, 78, died April 14, 2015 at Southwind Hospice in Pratt. Born Feb. 1, 1937, in Creek County, Okla., she was the daughter of Lester and Ruby (Browning) Allen. On Aug. 18, 1952, she married Melvin Eugene Gray in Oilton, Okla.
FREDONIA - Wanda Lee Deer, 93, passed away Sept. 23, 2014 in Wichita. Born on Feb. 28, 1921, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Frank Edward and Nellie (Coats) Sypolt. On May 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kelso Deer. He preceded her in death. She worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum for many years.
FRONTENAC - Patrick John O'Connell, 86, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on April 14, 2015 at the Medicalodge of Frontenac. He was born March 29, 1929, in Pittsburg, the son of William F. and Mary (Kinsella) O'Connell. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and later from Pittsburg State University. On June 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Wilson at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He worked for Cripe Bakery and Junge Baking Company as a route salesman.
RUSSELL - W. "Fritz" Waymaster, 87, died on April 12, 2015, at the Russell Regional Hospital. Born on July 30, 1927, in rural Bunker Hill, he was the son of David J. and Anna E. (Steinle) Waymaster. He grew up in the Bunker Hill area and started school there as well. Later he moved and finished his basic education in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1945.
HUTCHINSON - Marilyn K. Rivers, 74, died April 12, 2015, at Dillon Living Center. She was born June 19, 1940, in Norton, the daughter of John and Addie Sheets Rivers. She was a 1959 graduate of Great Bend High School. A resident of Hutchinson since 1960, she worked retail for her parents at Rivers Shoe Store.
WOODWARD, Okla. - Carole Willcut, 78-year-old Woodward, Okla., resident, died Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gregory Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
