Julius G. Gerstenkorn, 93, passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 at Midland Hospice House. He was born Jan. 22, 1917 in Odin, the son of Andrew and Anna (Herman) Gerstenkorn. Julius married Cecilia A. Boor in Odin on Jan. 19, 1943. She survives. Julius worked 22 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., retiring in 1980.
Ojai, Calif. - Jerry B. Zutavern, 77, of Ojai, Calif., died Friday, Aug. 27 following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 15, 1933 in Great Bend, and had been an Ojai resident 36 years, coming from Palo Alto.

ALVIN, Texas - Beverly K. Fuhr (Tomlin), 72, resident of Alvin, Texas, passed away Aug. 18. She was born Feb. 14, 1938, in Great Bend, to parents Gerald R. Tomlin and Frances Whorton Tomlin. She attended Great Bend High School. She was baptized a Methodist in Kilgore, Texas. Beverly worked at the Great Bend Wal-Mart for 19 years, and also at the Great Bend Senior Center for five years. On Sept. 14, 1987, she married Kurt Herbert Fuhr in Great Bend.
MANHATTAN - Meghan Christine Will, 23, died Aug. 29 from injuries received in an automobile accident in SalinE County, north of Salina. Meghan was born July 24, 1987, at Salina, to Timothy G. and B. Christine Will. She was a sophomore at Kansas State University in Manhattan. She had graduated from Ell-Saline High School In Brookville in 2005. She also had worked part-time for Ashley Furniture Store in Salina as a bookkeeper.
Alicie Danielle DeBolt, 14, of Great Bend, died Aug. 22 in rural Great Bend. She was born May 1, 1996, at Hays, the daughter of Richard and Tamara (Hodges) DeBolt. She was a Great Bend resident since 2005, coming from Hays. She was a student and cheerleader at Great Bend High School, a competitive gymnast at Heartland Academy, Hays, and a former cheerleader at Larned Middle School. She was a vibrant, caring person with a heart as big as the ocean. Her spirit remains with her family and friends in every rainbow.
LARNED – Caroline Elizabeth Reichuber, 99, died Aug. 28, at Larned Health Care, Larned. She was born Feb. 16, 1911, in Hutchinson, the daughter of William and Marie Zimmer Hines. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker.

SUN CITY, Ariz. - Iona Martin, 89, died Aug. 23 in Sun City, Ariz. She was born Oct. 30, 1920, in Rosston, Okla., to John and Bertha Kincade. She married Russell Martin on July 7, 1936. Willa Mae Springfeldt, 93, died July 10, at Almost Home in Great Bend. Born July 11, 1920, in Springfield, Mo., she was the daughter of William and Ethel Mae (Renfro) Teem. On Nov. 23, 1940, she married Virgil L. Springfeldt in Cottonwood Falls. He died on June 7, 1992. A resident of Great Bend since 1972, coming from Bushton, she and her husband were owner and operator of IGA of Bushton and Kwik Shop in Great Bend. She enjoyed playing the piano and cello.
Dennis A. Munoz, 66, longtime resident of Great Bend, passed away at his Great Bend home on Wednesday afternoon, July 9. Born Dec. 10, 1947, in Great Bend, he was the son of Frank and Katherine (Pyles) Munoz. In 1965, he graduated from Great Bend High School.
HOLLYWOOD, FLA.- Esther Dunham, 89, died Dec. 2, 2013 at Golfcrest Health Care Center, Hollywood, Fla. Born July 16, 1924 at Scottsbluff, Neb., she was the daughter of Lee Selby and Alice Butler. She married Jack Dunham June 9, 1945 at Hays, Kan. A former resident of Great Bend before moving to Florida, she was employed at J. C. Penney and the Barton County Health Department until her retirement.

Larry Randall Miller, 55, died May 31, in San Diego, Calif. Born March 10, 1959 at Great Bend, he was the son of Harold S. and Dorothy J. Miller. He joined the Coast Guard in 1978, working as a corpsman and was awarded a letter from President Ronald Reagan for saving a life. He attended Wichita State University on the GI Bill and later worked as a respiratory therapist and cardiology technician. He married Bernadette Alison December 31, 1990 at San Diego.

WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Theresa A. Wornkey, 81, died July 6, at Memorial Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Born Jan. 12, 1933, in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Matt and Barbara (Hiney) Apel. On April 9, 1953, she married Jim Wornkey in Ellinwood. She was a 15 year resident of Wyandotte, Okla. where she enjoyed her retired years with her husband of over 60 years. Theresa was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her life.
LARNED -Herman J. Mausolf, 85, passed away July 7 at Hays Medical Center. He was born March 11, 1929 in Albert; the son of Herman E. and Anna D. Jurgensen Mausolf. A longtime area resident he was a Chief Security Officer at the Larned State Hospital, retiring in 1991.
