Jo Ann Heaton, 84, of Great Bend, died Oct. 15 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. She was born Aug. 25, 1926, at Pittsburg, the daughter of Earl S. and Ida Lucille (Switzer) Jeffries. She married James Francis Heaton on May 25, 1950, at All Faiths Chapel on the campus of Kansas State University, Manhattan. He died Oct. 10, 2010. She was a 1944 graduate of Argentine High School, Kansas City, Kan., and a 1948 graduate of Kansas State University. She was a Great Bend resident since 1950, coming from Kansas City, Kan., and Pittsburg.
Irvin A. Rose, 78, of Great Bend, died Oct. 15 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born March 26, 1932, at the family farm in Stafford County, the son of Chester and Mary (Krkosska) Rose. He married Joyce L. Burhenn Oct. 6, 1956, at Ellinwood. He was a farmer and stockman. He was a Great Bend resident since 2004, coming from Hudson.
Raymond K. Morgan, 81, of Great Bend, died Oct. 13 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. He was born May 21, 1929, at Arkansas City, the son of James and Allie (King) Morgan. He married Irene Emily Elliott on May 23, 1949, at Arkansas City. Ray and Irene have resided in GReat Bend since 1950, coming here from Arkansas City. Ray worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a freight operator. He was a longtime employee of Larry's Garden Center. He then retired from the City of Great Bend Park Department after 22 years of service. Robert L. "Rob" Pelster Jr., 39, died Oct. 13 at his home in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 14, 1971, in Great Bend, the son of Robert L. Pelster Sr. and Lodema "Dee" (Garrett) Pelster. He married Frankie Lea on Aug. 14, 1993, at Great Bend. He worked for Log-Tech of Kansas as a wireline tech. He was a lifetime Great Bend resident.
Melvin J. Maneth, 78, of Great Bend, died Oct. 16 at his home. He was born Aug. 6, 1932, at Shaffer, the son of John and Anna (Haberman) Maneth. He married LaRue Legleiter on June 11, 1957, at Olmitz. He was a retired farmer and rural letter carrier. He was a Great Bend resident for three years, coming from rural Albert.

ELLINWOOD - Frederick W. Feist, 83, died Oct 14 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1927, in rural Claflin, the son of Anthony L. and Eva Christoph Feist. He married Katherine Kimpler on Nov. 11, 1952, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ellinwood. A lifetime Barton County resident, her was a retired welder and a partner in Rollins Bit Service, Ellinwood. He also was a driver for the senior citizens' bus, Ellinwood.
TOPEKA - Milford L. Zimmerman, 69, of Topeka, died Oct. 12 at the Eventide Convalescent Center, Topeka. He was born Oct. 29, 1940, at La Crosse, the son of Frank and Virginia A. (Greenway) Zimmerman. He was a resident of Topeka for more than 10 years, moving from Salina. He was a 1962 graduate of Hays High School, Hays. He was retired from the United States Army.

ELLSWORTH - Elma G. Soukup, 93, died Oct. 12 in Wilson. She was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Ellsworth County, to Joseph and Mattie (Belt) Zelenka. A lifetime resident of the area, she was a homemaker and farm wife. On Nov. 22, 1938, she married Emil H. Soukup in Ellsworth. He preceded her in death June 26, 1992.

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - Armella Ann Edwards, 85, died Oct. 10 at Franciscan Villa of Broken Arrow in Broken Arrow, Okla. She was born June 17, 1925, on the Dreiling farm northwest of Hays, the youngest of 10 children. Her parents were Aloise and Anna (Herl) Dreiling. She married James Lawrence Edwards Sr. on May 5, 1945, at Norfolk, Va. He died Nov. 9, 1986. She was employed by American Parts in Great Bend and was also a homemaker and caretaker of her husband.
Jack Daubert, 61, died Oct. 19 at Hutchinson Regional Hospital. Born in Great Bend, on April 9, 1953, he was the son of Herman and Wanda (Riemann) Daubert. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1972. Jack worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at "The Cedars" retirement community in McPherson. He was a longtime resident of Great Bend.
Kathy L. Kaiser, 65, passed away Oct. 19, at her home. Born Aug. 10, 1949, in Hopeton, Okla., she was the daughter of Glenn S. and Artie R. (Elliott) Jones. A resident of Great Bend since 1977, she worked 23 years for USD #428 in Food Service. On July 30, 1977, she married Paul Kaiser in Great Bend. He survives of the home.
James C. Burnette, 77, died Oct. 20 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 6, 1937 at Salina, he was the son of Cecil Marion and Stella M. (Lackey) Burnette.

John was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on May 23, 1933, and worked briefly in the Merchant Marines before beginning a distinguished career in the industrial gas business. RUSSELL - Richard Henry Dumler, 88, found peace on Oct. 14, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. At the time of his death, he lived at Rose Estates assisted living in Overland Park. Born on April 19, 1926, in Russell, he was the son of Henry and Agnes Dumler. His mother later married Ted Gariepy. He attended high school in Russell, where he was a sports star. There he met cheerleader Betty Joanne Kilian. He entered the service in 1944, serving in the United States Army Air Force until 1945. He married Betty Jo on June 1, 1947.
