CLAFLIN - Larry Gene Garrett, 60, died Oct. 7 at his home in Claflin. He was born July 25, 1950, at Forrest City, Ark., the son of Carlton Daniel and Luna Winona (Beard) Garrett. He married June Agnes Arends on Feb. 27, 1975, at Great Bend. A Claflin resident since 1974, coming from Schell City, Mo., he was a self-employed truck driver.
WICHITA - Nicholas Ryan Reichuber, 23, passed away Oct. 8 in Wichita. He was born July 20, 1987, in Crystal City. Mo. He graduated from WTI in computer networking.
Ms. Cynthia Barnes, 53, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sept. 16. She was born on April 23, 1957, in Great Bend, the only daughter of Christian and Rosalie Peters Leiker. She graduated from Great Bend High School after receiving her elementary education at Holy Family Grade School. CLAFLIN - Anthony (Tony) Albert Hoffman, 82, died Oct. 7 at Golden Living Center in Wilson. Born Dec. 9, 1927, in rural Claflin, he was the son of Anton and Winifred (Dolechek) Hoffman. He graduated in 1945 from Claflin High School, and attended Wichita State University, was a member of ROTC, and the University of Kansas. On June 1, 1950, he married Caroline Birzer in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of rural Claflin, he was a farmer/stockman and an adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance.
ELLINWOOD - Raymond Petz, 82, died Oct. 5 at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 5, 1928, at Ellinwood, the son of Edwin A. and Margaret Klepper Petz. He married Bernice Moos on Dec. 30, 1947, at Ellinwood. A lifetime Ellinwood resident, he was owner of Ray Petz Interior/Exterior Decorating in Ellinwood.
JETMORE - Norman Olson, 64, died Oct. 4 at his home in Jetmore. Born Sept. 29, 1946, in Dodge City, he was the son of Carl and Velma Anderson Olson. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer.
MCPHERSON - Mrs. Margaret Ann Reese, 71, of McPherson, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Oct. 4, while in the company of family members at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. She was a homemaker and through the years she worked for Farmers Alliance Insurance Company as a clerk, Alliance Insurance Company as a secretary and for McPherson College, all of McPherson.
HESSTON - Thebe Jahay, 89, passed away Oct. 5 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of Daniel and Fatima Adul Hamway. She worked at Hesston Child Care for 15 years.
ELLINWOOD - Ruth Lorraine Duncan, 97, died Sept. 27 in Irvine, Calif. Born Dec. 18, 1912, in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of DeWitt and Florence M. Johnson. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Long Beach Junior College in Long Beach, Calif. On June 12, 1937, she married Charles Duncan Jr. in Long Beach, Calif. He died Nov. 18, 2005. Formerly of Ellinwood, Dartmouth, Great Bend, Long Beach, Calif., and Indian Wells, Calif., she was a homemaker and piano teacher. She was a violinist with the Desert Symphony Orchestra.
ELLINWOOD - John Calvin Voth, 83, died Sept. 30 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. Born Nov. 11, 1926, in Ellinwood, he was the son of J. Milo and Esther Schermuly Voth. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, he was self-employed as an upholsterer and shoe repairman in Ellinwood. On July 17, 1946, he married Eileen Ecker in Marion.
PRATT - Timothy Wayne Mix, 44, died Oct. 1 at his home in Pratt. He was born Oct. 28, 1965, in Kinsley, the son of Larry and Carolyn Thomas Mix. He was a 1984 graduate of St. John High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Schenectady stationed in San Diego, Calif. More recently he was head cook for Great Western Dining at Pratt Community College.
HAYS - John A. Pfannenstiel, 63, of Hays, passed away Wednesday, the result of an automobile accident. He was born on January 6, 1947 in Hays to Alois and Domitilla (Befort) Pfannenstiel. He married Rose Ann Rome on November 26, 1971 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria.
Tim Frost, 37, died Wednesday at home in Great Bend. He was born June 16, 1973 at Boone, Iowa the son of Richard and Vicki (O'Hern) Frost.

Judy Ann Barlow, 58, died Tuesday at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born April 22, 1952, the daughter of Marvin Benjerman and Evelyn (Koelsch) Clawson. She was a life long resident of Great Bend. She married Robert Barlow April 15, 1970 in Great Bend.
Jack Daubert, 61, died Oct. 19 at Hutchinson Regional Hospital. Born in Great Bend, on April 9, 1953, he was the son of Herman and Wanda (Riemann) Daubert. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1972. Jack worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at "The Cedars" retirement community in McPherson. He was a longtime resident of Great Bend.
Kathy L. Kaiser, 65, passed away Oct. 19, at her home. Born Aug. 10, 1949, in Hopeton, Okla., she was the daughter of Glenn S. and Artie R. (Elliott) Jones. A resident of Great Bend since 1977, she worked 23 years for USD #428 in Food Service. On July 30, 1977, she married Paul Kaiser in Great Bend. He survives of the home.
James C. Burnette, 77, died Oct. 20 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 6, 1937 at Salina, he was the son of Cecil Marion and Stella M. (Lackey) Burnette.

BEATRICE, Neb. - Karen L. Kirkpatrick, 88 years and 27 days of age, passed away at her home Saturday morning, Oct. 18th. She was born on Sept. 20, 1926, in Hoisington, to Duke and Opal (Sypolt) Van Brimmer. Karen was a 1944 graduate of Hoisington High School and attended Wichita State University for two years. John was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on May 23, 1933, and worked briefly in the Merchant Marines before beginning a distinguished career in the industrial gas business. RUSSELL - Richard Henry Dumler, 88, found peace on Oct. 14, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. At the time of his death, he lived at Rose Estates assisted living in Overland Park. Born on April 19, 1926, in Russell, he was the son of Henry and Agnes Dumler. His mother later married Ted Gariepy. He attended high school in Russell, where he was a sports star. There he met cheerleader Betty Joanne Kilian. He entered the service in 1944, serving in the United States Army Air Force until 1945. He married Betty Jo on June 1, 1947.
