Larry "Pops" Ravenstien, 75, died Jan. 17 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. He was born Sept. 23, 1938, at Lyons, the son of Wilmer "Red" and Helen (Albin) Ravenstien. He married Patricia Crockett Dec. 23, 1958, at Ellinwood. They later divorced. He then married Joyce Porter at Nickerson. They later divorced. He was a truck driver for most of his life; his last employment was with Griffin Seed, Nickerson.

Nancy L. Adams, 78, longtime Great Bend resident, passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born Oct. 8, 1935, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Mildred I. (Hungerford) Darr. In 1953, she graduated from Great Bend High School and later attended Barton County Community College. A homemaker, Nancy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
HOISINGTON - Dwayne Detter, 61, died Jan. 12, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born Feb. 15, 1952 at Hutchinson, the son of Leonard Dwayne and Donna Jean (Van Meter) Detter. Dwayne married Denise Perry July 30, 1977 at Lyons. Growing up in Sterling, Dwayne was a Hoisington resident since 1996 coming from Oberlin. Dwayne was a sales manager for KSN-Oberlin and later Eagle Radio, Hays, retiring in 2006.

LARNED - Barbara J. Erway, 70, died March 2, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born April 5, 1943, in Sumiton, Ala., she was the daughter of Houston and Lilly Fortenberry Greathouse. Moving from Alabama in 1956, she was a longtime area resident of Larned and a Registered Nurse at Larned State Hospital. On June 13, 1962, she married Leonard L. Erway in Larned. He survives. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, going on camping trips and traveling.
LINCOLN - James William Grandy, 63, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on March 1, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. He was born Dec. 29, 1950, in Great Bend, the son of the late Iva Mae (Vesper) and Harold Lee Grandy.
Barb Schumacher, 74, died Feb. 27 at the Hays Medical Center. Born Jan. 8, 1940, in Ness City, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Pearlann (Reynolds) Petersilie. On Dec. 5, 1981, she married Ken Schumacher in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend since 1957, coming from Bazine, she was co-owner and operator of Kansas Door, worked in several flower shops, was an administrative secretary at Fuller Brush and was an Avon representative for 20 years. She enjoyed fishing, water sports and traveling, especially, wintering in Texas. Her true love was spending time with her grandchildren.
Neuell G. Nicolet, 91, formerly of Great Bend, passed away Feb. 27 in Augusta. Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Great Bend, he was the son of the late Ed and Inez (Gaunt) Nicolet. In 1941, he graduated from Great Bend High School. He was a retired farmer.

Orval E. Weeks, 86, died Feb. 26 at Sterling House in Great Bend. Born May 16, 1927, in Russell County, he was the son of Marion B. and Edith I. (Ross) Weeks. On March 20, 1949 Orval married Virginia L. Campbell in Hoisington. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2005.

Lenora Marie Ochs, 97, died Feb. 25 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born July 21, 1916, in rural Otis, she was the daughter of Fred and Julia (Schlegel) Stieben. On Oct. 6, 1935 she married Clarence Everett Ochs in Otis. He died on May 7, 1994. A Great Bend resident since 1978, coming from Otis, she was a part-owner, bookkeeper and parts lady at Ochs, Inc., until retirement.
