ALBERT - Betty A. Rossman, 79, longtime Albert resident, passed away on Dec. 6, 2015, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on Jan. 6, 1936, at La Crosse, she was the daughter of Henry and Mathilda (Heronema) Basgall. On June 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to James J. "Jim" Rossman at La Crosse. Betty was a homemaker most of her life, and for 13 years worked outside her home as custodian at Farmers Bank and Trust in Albert. Betty loved to cook for others as well as loved taking care of others.
CLAFLIN - Bert L. Besthorn, 60, passed away Dec. 6, 2015, in Hays. Born Nov. 29, 1955, in Great Bend, he was the son of Herbert L. and Joyce A. (Rathbun) Besthorn. He was a lifetime resident of the Claflin area. He earned his master's degree in Diesel Mechanics from Pittsburg State University, then went on to teach diesel mechanics at Barton County Community College, was a contract trainer for Case-New Holland teaching power mechanics, and after retirement, served as a substitute teacher at Central Plains High School in Claflin. He was co-owner of Besthorn Oil and Gas Service Inc.
Robert L. "Bob" Brittain, 84, passed away Dec. 5, 2015, surrounded by family. He was born Jan. 30, 1931 in Shamrock, Okla., the son of Robert and Anna (Ricks) Brittain. Bob enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country from Oct. 1951 to Sept. 1953. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, at Ladd Field. He married Velda L. McMahan Jan. 1, 1954 in Cushing, Okla.
