BISON - Kenneth E. Hanhardt, 90, died June 20, 2016, at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. Born July 15, 1925, in rural Bison, he was the son of Clarence C. and Ella E. (Gillig) Hanhardt. In 1943 he graduated from Bison High School. On July 30, 1949, he married Delores J. Michaelis at the Baptist Church in Bison. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was a farmer.
BISON - Drusilla F. Fox, 97, died June 20, 2016, at her home. Born Feb. 5, 1919, in Clinton, Mo., she was the daughter of Herman and Emma (Betz) Schmidt. On Feb. 7, 1943, she married Lynn W. Fox at Bison. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1984. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, living briefly in Arizona and Kentucky. A 1937 graduate of Enterprise Academy in Enterprise, she was a Registered Nurse before her retirement.
Sister Cornelia Bock, 96, died June 20, 2016, in the Dominican Sisters' convent infirmary, Great Bend. Born March 25, 1920, in Anaheim, Calif., as Barbara Belle Bock, Sister Cornelia was the daughter of Paul and Barbara (Diefenback) Bock. She entered the Dominican Sisters Community in Great Bend Aug. 30, 1935, and pronounced her first vows Aug. 17, 1938. She celebrated 75 years of religious profession in 2013.
Donald Bert Gordon, 73, died June 17, 2016, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born July 25, 1942, in Great Bend he was the son of Guy and Lucile Irene (Ottinger) Gordon. On Dec. 20, 1980, he married Luz Betty Porras in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend he was a case manager for Sunflower Diversified Services, retiring after 30 years of service. He previously taught art at Oregon State University.
HUTCHINSON - Bonnie K. Cutrano, 64, died June 18, 2016, at her home in Hutchinson. Born Nov. 23, 1952, in Hays, she was the daughter of Elmer Joseph and Bertille "Berdy" (Meier) Herrman. A resident of Hutchinson since 2006, coming from Great Bend, she was a homemaker.
OSAGE BEACH, MO - Francis J. Keenan, 88, known as Red, died peacefully on June 8, 2016. Red was born to Frank and Hazel Keenan on Jan. 25, 1928 in Great Bend, KS. He was the oldest of four children. Beverly Schaub, Kathleen Casey and Thomas Keenan have preceded him in death. Red enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1947 and ws discharged in 1949 with the rank of electricians mate, 3rd class. Red was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Great Bend from 1950 until he retired in 1980. He started an independent communication company specializing in ...
