WICHITA - Joann M. "Jodie" Bieberle, 77, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, Jan. 30 2015, while surrounded by her family at her home in Wichita. She was born July 5, 1937, in Beaver, the daughter of William and Theresa Meyeres. Joann retired from Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend after 34 years of service as an insurance billing administrator and later moved to Wichita where she had been a resident since 2008. Jeff L. Gallios, 59, died Jan. 23, at his residence in Great Bend. Born March 3, 1955, in Great Bend, he was the son of George Christ and Jean Beatrice (Link) Gallios. On Sept. 29, 1998, he married Lavina Lowe in Pawnee Rock. A Great Bend resident for 16 years, coming from Broken Bow, Neb., he was employed at Central Kansas Medical Center in the maintenance department until becoming disabled.
STAFFORD – Wayne L. Meschberger, 88, died Jan. 31, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. Born Oct. 4, 1926, in rural Stafford, he was the son of Daniel and Lena Lichte Meschberger. He was a 1944 graduate of Stafford High School. On June 21, 1949, he married Linda Myers at Lorraine. She died on March 7, 2009. He was a farmer/electrician in the Stafford area for most of his life.
HUDSON - N. Theodore "Pete" Witt Jr., 72, passed away Feb. 1, at his home in Hudson. Born on Sept. 1, 1942, in Great Bend, he was the son of Norman Theodore and Erna (Drach) Witt. On Aug. 31, 1963, he married Ardis L. (Bourbina) in Abilene. A life-long resident of Hudson, he was a retired farmer/stockman, bus driver for USD 350 and buffer coordinator for the Stafford County Conservation Service.
OVERBROOK - Darrell L. Revell, 61, passed away on Jan. 31, at his home in rural Overbrook. While his childhood days were spent in Great Bend, he lived most of his adult life in the Topeka area. Darrell was born on Jan. 29, 1954, at the Strategic Air Command (SAC) Hospital in Limestone, Maine. Darrell was born the oldest of three children to Eloise C. (Bryant) Jones and Cleo O. PRATT - Cuma M. Zeltner, 72, died Jan. 27, 2015 at South Wind Hospice in Pratt. Born on April 16, 1942, in Princeton, Ind., she was the daughter of Charles Max and Gypsy Genelle (White) Vinson. On March 18, 1962, she married James 'Jim' W. Zeltner in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 2012. She worked as office manager at Adams Electric in Pratt for 24 years and most recently worked as bookkeeper for Westhoff Plumbing. The avid reader enjoyed making her world famous chocolate chip cookies.
NEODESHA - Kenneth "Tiny" Raymond Unrein died Jan. 24, 2015, at his home in Neodesha. Born Sept. 21, 1943, in La Crosse, he was the son of Jacob and Abby Unrein. He attended school in La Crosse. He was employed at a packing plant, roofing and construction and was a truck driver at Airosal Inc.
HAYS - Melvin J. "Mel" Schreiber, 83, died Jan. 25, 2015, at Hays Medical Center. Born Dec. 19, 1931, in Great Bend, he was the son of Fred and Margaret (Mauler) Schreiber. On Sept. 27, 1952, he married Frances L. "Frankie" (Musick) in Hutchinson. She died April 3, 2012. He was director of fleet maintenance for Becker Corporation in El Dorado for 21 years. He also worked 11 years at Thompson Transport in McPherson. In 2008 he moved to Hays from Andover.
LAWRENCE - Ervin Francis Huslig, 67, and Mary Ann Huslig, 62, Lawrence, died April 20, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence is in charge of arrangements.
HOISINGTON - Ethel Jonas, 91, died April 20, 2015, at Hays Medical Center in Hay. Born on June 1, 1923, in Barton County near Susank, she was the second child of Lora Retta (Gardner) Jonas and Edmund "Edd" G. Jonas. Her brother, Walter was born in 1920. He passed away in 2005.
Theresa Stanley, 73, of Great Bend, died April 19, 2015, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. She was born Oct 3, 1941, at La Crosse, to Henry and Mathilda (Heronema) Basgall. She graduated from La Crosse High School and was united in marriage to William Stanley in 1961 at La Crosse. She worked as a cook for many Great Bend area eating establishments, including JC Penney, A & W, Central Kansas Medical Center, the Petroleum Club, Barton Community College, Black Angus and the Great Bend Senior Center prior to her retirement in 2000.
SEWARD - Ronald Lee Reneau, 57, passed away April 13, 2015 at the University of Colorado Hospital. He was born on Dec. 13, 1957, in Kiowa. He lived most of his life in the Hudson, St John and Seward area. He joined US Navy right after high school graduation and spent time in the Philippines, Japan and Hawaiian Islands. He trained with the United States Navy Seals as their Assault Coxman.
RADIUM - Marvin Leroy Brown, 75, passed away April 19, at his home in Radium. Born July 8, 1939, in Great Bend, he was the son of J.P. and Frances (Ward) Brown. A resident of Radium since 1985, he was a welder. On Feb. 14, 1985, he married Lana C. (Mettscher) in Kansas City, MO. She survives of the home.
ST. JOHN - Norma Lea Gray, 78, died April 14, 2015 at Southwind Hospice in Pratt. Born Feb. 1, 1937, in Creek County, Okla., she was the daughter of Lester and Ruby (Browning) Allen. On Aug. 18, 1952, she married Melvin Eugene Gray in Oilton, Okla.
FREDONIA - Wanda Lee Deer, 93, passed away Sept. 23, 2014 in Wichita. Born on Feb. 28, 1921, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Frank Edward and Nellie (Coats) Sypolt. On May 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kelso Deer. He preceded her in death. She worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum for many years.
