Robert L. "Bob" Bader, 78, died Jan. 4 in his home at Great Bend. He was born June 7, 1932, in Osborne County, the son of Fredrick Robert and Addie Mae (Clemans) Bader. He married Joan Habiger Sept. 1, 1955, at Hoisington. He was a commercial salesman for Becker Tire and Treading, Great Bend, for 50 years. He was a Great Bend resident since 1959, coming from Osborne.
RUSSELL - Sadie E. (Bachman) Feil, 92 of Russell, died Jan. 2 at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. She was born Nov. 17, 1918, southwest of Dorrance on the family farm, the daughter of Peter and Adella (Klusener) Bachman. She grew up in the Dorrance area and graduated from Dorrance High School. She married Jacob Feil, after he returned from the war, on Nov. 30, 1945, in Dorrance. They lived in Russell until 1954 when the family moved to Wichita. The family returned to Russell in 1959. TIMKEN - Maye Pechanec, 87, died Jan. 3 at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse. Born Oct. 10. 1923, she was the daughter of Mart and Jennie (Watkins) West. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a 1941 graduate of Alexander High School. On Aug. 8, 1944, she married Edward F. Pechanec at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken. He died Dec. 3, 2005. She was a homemaker.
Myrtle Katherine Pitts, 89, died Jan. 3 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 23, 1922, in Beaver, she was the daughter of John and Pearl (Hinderliter) Christians. She graduated from Hoisington High School in 1940. On March 16, 1941, she married Herbert L. Pitts in Beaver. He died Feb. 23, 2007. She was a homemaker and helped establish a family farm near Beaver with her husband, where they lived for 54 years before making Great Bend their home the past 18 years. She loved sewing and quilting.
RUSSELL - Virgil C. Wagner, 87, of Russell, died on Jan. 3 at the Trego County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care facility in WaKeeney. He was born Dec. 3, 1923, on the family farm in rural Walker, the son of Christopher and Margaret (Robben) Wagner. He grew up and attended school in the Walker area. Clifford M. Bellinger, 84, of Great Bend, died Dec. 30 at Cherry Village in Great Bend. Born Aug. 6, 1926 in Fort Scott, he was the son of John Semple and Bonnie Gretchen McCargar Bellinger. He married Sallly Fox in 1955 in Wichita. She died in 1972. A resident of Barton and Rush counties for 21 years, residing in Great Bend, Otis and Denver, Colo., he was a retired engineering draftsman after working 35 years with Boeing.
HOISINGTON - Clarence A. Redetzke, 80, died Jan. 3 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born April 24, 1930, at Hoisington, the son of Leo C. and Cecelia C. (Schauf) Redetzke. He married Martha A. Hawes Nov. 3, 1951, at Fort Smith, Ark. She died Oct. 22, 2010. A lifetime Susank/Hoisington resident, he was a retired farmer/rancher.
Teresa Murray, 62, of Great Bend, died Jan. 2 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born May 23, 1948, at Great Bend, she was the daughter of Maurice and Virginia (Suellentrop) Roach. She married Daniel Murray on Jan. 9, 1976, in Great Bend. A life-long resident of Great Bend, she worked as a secretary for Western & Southern Life Ins. Co. for a number of years.

ELLINWOOD - Maurice Francis Thul, 87, died Jan. 1 at his home in Ellinwood. Born April 16, 1923, in Ellinwood, he was the son of John and Ida Dorothea Mayer Thul. On Feb. 14, 1949, he married Maxine W. Strodtmann in Ellinwood. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, he retired in 1988 after 35 years with the City of Ellinwood, retiring as superintendent of the Water and Sewer Department. He was a volunteer fireman for 28 years and for 12 years was the Fire Chief in Ellinwood.
HOLYROOD - Edith B. Schultz, 89, died Dec. 31 in Ellsworth. She was born, June 16, 1921, in Holyrood, to Frederick and Amanda (Cushman) Schepmann.
LARNED - Charles L. Pfenninger, 93, died Dec. 31, 2010 at Larned Healthcare Center. He was born Jan. 29, 1917, near Rozel, the son of Louis J. and Ora Grace Renfro Pfenninger. On March 1, 1941, he married Della G. Eilts at Yuma, Ariz. She died Jan. 26, 2003. A lifetime resident of Pawnee County, he retired from Roth Equipment Company as vice president and was a farm machinery salesman for 40 years.
Edwin O. Hiss, 79, of Great Bend, died Dec. 29 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, at Great Bend, the son of Fred Henry and Mary Bertha (Janne) Hiss. He married Violet Krentzel on April 29, 1967, at Great Bend. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was a farmer and stockman.

"Reta" Hill in Hoisington. HOISINGTON - Velma H. McMillin, 90, died Dec. 4 at Via Christi Hospital, St. Francis, in Wichita. Born Jan. 20, 1924, in Melvern, she was the daughter of Oscar and Hazel (Goldsmith) Beck. On Nov. 30, 1940, she married H.D. McMillin in Ottawa. He died July 23, 1993. A resident of Hoisington since 1940, she worked as a florist for many years and she was also the co-owner of Trinkets and Treasures, an antique shop in Hoisington. She was an avid sports fan cheering for the Chiefs, Kansas University and the Green Bay Packers.
Elizabeth "Liz" Ewing Moore, 87, died Dec. 4, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Dec. 14, 1926, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of William and Jesse (Funk) Stanley. On June 14, 1947, she married Robert Gilmore Ewing in Great Bend. The later divorced. On July 11, 1992, she married Darrel Herman in Great Bend. He died on Oct. 20, 2007. A lifetime resident of Great Bend she was a cook for USD #428, a secretary for Gibson, Titus and Stafford and retired as a clerk for Centel.
BRIGHTON, Colo. - Michael Thomas Ochs, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 26, in a car accident. Born Dec. 19, 1941, in Wichita, he was the son of Martin and Dorothy (Murphy) Ochs.
HUDSON – Hilda L. Siefkes, 100, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born May 31, 1914, on the family farm, rural Hudson, she was the daughter of Carl and Lena Drach. Hilda was a lifetime resident of the Hudson Community. She was a 1932 graduate of Hudson High School. She was a homemaker, careful custodian of her home, yard and flower garden, dear mother and loving grandmother and great grandmother.
