Paul R. Chisholm, 85, died April 1 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. Born March 24, 1926 in Raleigh, Miss., he was the son of John U. and Eva (Devlin) Chisholm. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, coming from Mississippi, he was employed by Jones and Laughlin Steel Manufacturing and Mission Manufacturing and later was a farmer and stockman. On Aug. 24, 1957 he married Joan Schartz at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.
OTIS - Gerald "Jerry" A. Bahr, 56, died April 2 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born June 30, 1954, he was the son of Roland J. and Dorothy (Mayer) Bahr. A lifetime resident of the Otis and Olmitz area, he was a foreman in the finishing department at Great Bend Manufacturing for 33 years, later working at Landmark National Bank as the maintenance man. On April 16, 1977 he married Linda Schneider in Olmitz.
BURDETT - Lester L. Shuck, 76, passed away April 1, at the Rush County Nursing Home in LaCrosse. Born July 24, 1934 in Pawnee County, he was the son of Rex and Leona Smith Shuck. A lifetime area resident, he was a feed mill operator at the COOP in Burdett.

Harmon E. "Shorty" Allinger, 77, died April 1 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born March 21, 1934, at Great Bend, the son of Harmon C. and Goldie (Miles) Allinger. He married Velma Leiker on Jan. 14, 1958, at Hays. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he owned and operated H&H Auto Electric.
MISSION, Texas - Leona M. Wess Blankenship, 92, died April 1 at the Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mission, Texas. Born April 27, 1918, in Great Bend, was the daughter of Theodore P. and Sarah Ellen Gilbert Wess. Leona Wess and Donald Carroll Blankenship were married on Oct. 11, 1935, in Great Bend. She was a homemaker on the farm until the girls started high school. She worked for Honaker Drilling Inc. and moved first to Oleander Acres and then to Enchanted Valley Ranch in Mission, Texas.
Billie Lou Burgardt, 61, died April 1 at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, Ill. Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend.
LARNED – John Mariche Perez, 67, died March 31 at his home in Larned. Born March 2, 1944, at Dodge City, he was the son of Clemente Rincon and Lucille Mariche Perez. A lifetime resident of the Edwards and Pawnee County area, he was a Licensed Mental Health Technician at the Larned State Hospital. On Aug. 16, 1969, he married Mary Lynn Stejskal at Miami, Okla. She survives.

Maurice Doolen "Dooley" Edman, 85, died March 29 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Feb. 20, 1926 in Great Bend, he was the son of Maurice J. and Martha Lois (Doolen) Edman. He graduated from Great Bend High School and attended the University of Washington in Seattle Wash., majoring in Civil Engineering. A Great Bend resident since 1956, coming from McPherson, he worked for Evans-Rondeau engineering firm, Hallibutron Oil Well Cementing Company and was the Barton County Engineer for 36 years. RUSSELL - James Lacey Brown, 86, of Russell, died March 27, at the Russell Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 28, 1924 on the family farm outside of Russell, he was the son of John A. and Dorothy Ruth (Lacey) Brown. He grew up in Russell County and graduated from Russell High School in 1942. On Dec. 28, 1947 he married Marjorie Anne Moore. She preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 2010. Mary Jane Wells, 89, died April 4, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Fort Scott she was the daughter of James L. and Lillie Mae (Chambers) Parker and was later adopted by Ruth Chidester Noggle. She attended school in St. John and later in Russell, where she graduated from in 1943. On June 1, 1943, she married Wayne Ingalls Grippin. They later divorced. She then married Joseph B. Wells. ELLSWORTH - Merlin Thomas (Thom) Stang, 66, passed away March 26 at his home in Ellsworth. Thom was born to Albert and Anita Stang on August 7, 1948 in Marysville. He was raised in Victoria and was part of their graduating class of 1966. Thom was drafted and served the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas. In 1972, he married Ruann Kuntzsch. He completed training and was certified in printing at Salina Area Technical College.
WICHITA - Kathryn M. Busch died Monday, April 6. She was the daughter of George and Zoe (True) Yarbrough.
THAILAND - Richard A. Poage passed away in his sleep at his home in Thailand on Jan. 23, with his companion by his side. Born on Sept. 6, 1940, in Great Bend, he was the son of Marion and Irene Poage. Born and raised in Great Bend he worked in the oilfields, like his father, from the age of 17 until retiring from offshore drilling 10 years ago in Thailand. In 1960, he married Sheryl Wheat. They divorced in 1964. In 1968, he married Vicky Campbell while working in Scotland. The divorced in 1975.

HAYS - Leona Winterlin, 83, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Sterling House in Great Bend. She was born in 1931 in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Dan and Elsie (Birkey) Roth. She married DeWayne Winterlin on Aug. 21, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died June 20, 2000. She attended Wheaton College and Moody Bible Institute. She was an LPN and worked as a nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and later at nursing homes in Kansas.
