PLANO, Texas - Georgia Louise Campbell, 87, died Oct. 27. She was born April 11, 1923, at Larned, the daughter of Charles DeWitt and Lucile (Hullett) Gilmore. She married William J. Campbell Jr. on Dec. 27, 1943, at Great Bend. He died Sept. 4, 2007. She lived in Great Bend, Wichita, Kansas City and Oklahoma City prior to moving to the Dallas area.

Born March 12, 1915, at Elmer, Kan., she was the daughter of Noah and Lillian (Murray) Neal. She was baptized Jan. 29, 1927, by the Rev. J.R. Taylor at First Baptist Church, Sterling. Danny K. Crane, 62, of Great Bend, died Oct. 26 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. He was born Oct. 22, 1948, at Abilene, the son of Donald and Katherine (Barlow) Crane. He married Hazel Crane on Dec. 31, 1967, at Great Bend. He was publication editor for Lockheed Missiles in Space. Mr. Crane was a Great Bend resident since 1993, coming from Pleasanton, Calif.
William. D. "Bill" Bisterfeldt, 79, of Great Bend, died Oct. 25 at Leisure Homestead in St. John. He was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Bison, the son of George Henry and Almeda Viola (Hutchins) Bisterfeldt. He was a lifelong resident of Great Bend. He married Frances M. Sohm on June 11, 1960, at Great Bend. He received his GED while serving in the United States Air Force. He was an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Bisterfeldt was a maintenance supervisor for USD 428 for many years before his retirement.
RUSSELL - Herman J. Hammerschmidt, 98, of Russell, died Oct. 25 at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. Herman was born on June 23, 1912, in Walker, the son of Jacob and Anna (Geist) Hammerschmidt. He grew up and attended public schools in Walker and lived all his life in the Walker, Victoria and Russell areas. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Raymond "Bud" Duane Wamsley passed away Oct. 24 in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 78. Raymond was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Wichita to the late Robert and Isadore Wamsley of Conway Springs. Upon graduation from Conway Springs High School he attended and received degrees from Friends University and Wichita State University, both in Wichita, and later the University of Kansas, where he received his doctorate in Education in 1968. Raymond was a lifetime educator and administrator. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Edward L. Koopman, 83, of Great Bend, died Oct. 22, He was born in Great Bend on Dec. 30, 1926, to Edward C. and Myrtle Pettit Koopman. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1944 and attended Kansas State University, where he played basketball. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, receiving a medical discharge in 1945.

AMARILLO, Texas - Odessa Mills, 93, died Oct. 20 at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood. She was born Sept. 16, 1917, at Lockney, Texas, the daughter of Richard Warren and Girlie Hewett Thomas. She married Vernon Mills on Dec. 23, 1951, at Boise City, Okla. He died Aug. 15, 1988. She was an Ellinwood resident since 2006, formerly of Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas, and Pueblo and Denver, Colo. She managed the camera department at Skaggs Drug in Pueblo and in Amarillo, from 1959 to 1981. She was in sales for more than 20 years.

John D. Trimmer, 65, of Great Bend and formerly of Pawnee Rock and Dundee, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born on Feb. 11, 1949, at Belleville, to George Franklin and Edna Alene (Larr) Trimmer. He graduated from Republic County Schools in 1965 and was united in marriage to Diana Levingston on June 10, 1976, at Pawnee Rock. She died on July 22, 2013. John worked as a chain hand in the oilfield prior to his retirement. He enjoyed rock collecting, watching wrestling and spending time with family.

Robert J. "Bob" Tittel, 56, passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 5, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on Jan. 23, 1958 in Ness City, he was the son of Benhardt and Hildegard Frieda Emma (Schettler) Tittel. In 1976, he graduated from Ness City High School, and that same year he moved to Great Bend. A longtime Great Bend resident, he worked for many years as a cable technician for CableVision in Great Bend until health issues prevented him from working. Bob was a bit of a Jack-of-all-trades, and enjoyed many activities, including auto body restoration.
James W. Herren, 92, died Oct. 6, at Sumner County Care Center in Wellington. Born June 24, 1922, in Great Bend, he was the son of George L. and Minda (Knighton) Herren. On July 10, 1978, he married Beverly A. Barnes in Wichita. She preceded him in death. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a supervisor for Kansas Foundation for the Blind.
