He married Irene Schmeidler January 9, 1950 at St. Severin, Kansas. She died July 21, 2009. Mr. Dreiling was a Great Bend resident since since 1950, coming from Hays. WICHITA -- Herbert Marlin Wong, 87, retired restaurant owner, passed away July 2. He was a strong –spirited person, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many people. He will be missed by friends and family. Herbert Marlin Wong was born in Canton Village, Canton, China, on Sept. 7, 1923.

Danny F. Renfro, 60, died July 28 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 26, 1950, at Great Bend, to Willard Francis and Waunita Lucille (Moore) Renfro. He married Karen Sue Miller on July 22, 1992, at Great Bend. She died Aug. 24, 2010. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he worked in the oilfield.
Charles W. Bybee, 71, died July 27 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. He was born Sept. 16, 1939, at Geneseo, to Paul William and Helen (Morehouse) Bybee. He married Janet Stroup on Aug. 9, 1963, at Chase.

ELLINWOOD - Frederick (Lawrence) Hiss, 81, died July 25 at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. Born Oct. 26, 1929 in Great Bend, he was the son of Fred Hiss and Mary Janne Hiss. A lifetime resident of Barton County and Rice County, he worked at Merring's Inc. as an appliance repairman from 1956-57 and was a farmer. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1947. On Aug. 26, 1956 he married Elinor Bryant in Ellinwood.

AMARILLO, Texas - Gladys Ruth Gardner, 80, died Nov. 28 at Bluebonnet Assisted Living in Amarillo, Texas. Born April 2, 1933, in Elbing, she was the daughter of Paul and Helen (Hawks) Binder. On June 12, 1954, she married Louis Edward Gardner in Hoisington. He died on July 19, 1995. A resident of Amarillo, Texas, since 2005, coming from Hoisington, she was a nurse technician for Clara Barton Hospital and Central Kansas Medical Center.

Born Aug. 11, 1922, at Augusta, she was the daughter of Bertram H. and Flora E. (Fitzwilliam) St. Clair. She married Lawrence H. Ankerholz Nov. 20, 1941, at Salem, Ill. He died Dec. 7, 1983. She then married Rufus P. Fimple Jan. 15, 1994, at Great Bend.
Lelia A. Thompson, 94 died Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. Born Aug. 5, 1919, at Arpelar, Okla., she was the daughter of Boone and Virgie Mae (Ezell) Turner. She married Norman Thompson March, 26, 1938, at McAlester, Okla. He died March 18, 2002.
