HOISINGTON - Richard K. McGinnis, 84, died Nov. 20 at his residence in Hoisington. Born Sept. 10, 1927 in rural Barton County, he was the son of Edman E. and Lena Gray (Ruble) McGinnis. In October 1953, he married Shirley L. Trauer at Sylvia. A resident of Hoisington since 1953, he was a grader/maintenance operator for Eureka Township and a heavy equipment operator for the State of Kansas and Prosser Dirt Construction. He loved hunting, especially pheasants and quail.

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. - Joseph Henry Kimpler, III, of Libertyville, Ill., left this earth and took the fast track to heaven on Nov. 12, in Great Bend. He was celebrating the 20th annual family pheasant hunting trip when he suffered a fatal heart attack. There he was reunited with beloved wife, Margaret, and Jesus Christ, his Savior. "Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from god, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands" (2 Corinthians 5:1).

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Lord called Engle Scott, a retired U.S. Army colonel, home on Nov. 14, 2011. Engle Wayne Scott was born in Larned, on Jan. 20, 1937, the youngest of eight children of Silvey West Scott and Dixie Shumate Scott. Until the age of 5, he lived in Ash Valley, where his father was a grain elevator and feed store manager. During World War II, his family moved to Great Bend, where he graduated from high school in 1955. HOISINGTON - Lyle E. Stout, 75, died Nov. 15, 2011 in Hoisington.

RUSH CENTER - Ray L. "Pete" Keener, 75, died Nov. 15, 2011 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Kathleen Kimpler, 85, died Nov. 15 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 8, 1926 in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of George Peter and Mary Ann (Kramer) Kimpler. A resident of Great bend since 1975, coming from Ellinwood, she was a principal and teacher in the Wichita and Dodge City Diocese Catholic Schools for 34 years.
COLUMBUS - Mary Cunningham Minott, 95, died Nov. 14 at Kansas Soldiers Nursing Home in Fort Dodge. Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Carterville, Mo., she was the daughter of R.W. and Effie R. Cook Cunningham. She was a resident of Fort Dodge for several years, previously of Larned and Columbus.
LARNED - Karlene K. Meckfessel, 68, passed away April 1, 2014 at her home.
John lived in the Pratt and Sawyer area in his younger years and graduated from Moscow High School and Fort Hays State University. He served seven years in the Army Reserves out of Hays.
