HUTCHINSON - Robert G. "Bob" Kuhn, 73, died April 26, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born Dec. 14, 1940, in Hutchinson, he was the son of William and Etta King Kuhn. He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and received his associates degree from Hutchinson Community College. On Nov. 25, 1961, he married Cheryl Harris in Hutchinson. She survivies. He had been a certified licensed land surveyor for several years and he also worked for KDOT for 45 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, and his family.
GARFIELD - John M. Olson, 92, passed away April 25 at his home in Garfield. He was born June 11, 1921, in Garfield, the son of John and Minnie Lundblade Olson. A lifetime Garfield resident, he was in partnership with his father at the Olson and Olson Blacksmith and Machine Shop. He retired as a power plant operator at Larned State Hospital.
Dr. Norman Max Held, 87 of Ventura, Iowa, died March 22 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Great Bend, the son of Leonard Henry and Verna Viola (Lupardis) Held. Following high school he attended Kansas State College obtaining a degree in Agriculture and pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was a 1st lieutenant as adjutant and served in Denver, Colo., at Lowry Air Force Base and TDY at Chamfer, Ga., during the Korean War. LA CROSSE - George F. Reha, 90, died April 22, at the Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in La Crosse. Born Oct. 4, 1923, in rural McCracken, he was the son of Frank and Lillian (Richter) Reha. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was the owner of Reha Automotive in La Crosse before his retirement. In 1941 he graduated from Bison High School. On Jan. 4, 1947, he married Janita Krug in Great Bend.
BALDWIN CITY - Christina Ann (Radke) Madl, 47, passed away at her home in rural Baldwin on April 21, 2014, after a long illness. Born in Hoisington, she was the daughter of John E. and Laura Lea Peace Radke. In 1985 she graduated from Hoisington High School. During her high school years she worked at Dairy Queen, The Hoisington Chamber of Commerce and served as assistant manager of the Hoisington Swimming Pool. James E. "Budjoe" Detherage, 77, died April 26 at home in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 2, 1936, at Altus, Ark., to Coyle and Daisy (Covert) Detherage. James married Arletta Mohr on Oct. 10, 1957, at Larned. She survives. A truck driver for Rainbow Trucking, until his retirement, Mr. Detherage was a long time Great Bend resident, formerly residing in Radium.
ELLINWOOD - Harold (Doc) Stone, 92, died April 25 at his home in Ellinwood. Doc was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Cedar Vale, to Joseph and Georgia (Thompson) Stone. He married Mary Lois Malone on June 22, 1953, in Ellinwood. He served during World War II as a Captain in the 7th Station Hospital as a dental officer. Doc was a 65-year-resident of Ellinwood, where he ran his own dental practice from 1949 up until his retirement in 1988.
LARNED - Eleanor H.J. Tammen, 92, passed away April 21, at the Cedars Care Home in McPherson. Born May 10, 1921, in Albert, she was the daughter of Fred H. and Mattie G. Folkerts Hemken. On Aug. 27, 1941, she married Leonard F. Tammen in Albert. He passed away on March 12, 2009. After living in Colorado Springs from 1957 to 1961, she moved to Larned and was a resident from 1961 to 2005. She then moved to McPherson. She was a homemaker. RUSH CENTER - Dean M. Misegadis, 88, died April 21, at his home. Born on March 11, 1926, in rural Rush Center, he was the son of Louis and Caroline (Wagner) Misegadis. He was a 1944 graduate of Dodge City High School in Dodge City and attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. On April 24, 1952, he married Betty Keener at Hope Lutheran Church in Rush Center. A resident of Rush Center since 1946, he was the owner of Dean's TV & Appliance in Rush Center and La Crosse. He also was a farmer.
CLAFLIN - Donald E. Cates, 67, died April 22 in rural Pawnee County. Born Oct. 8, 1946, in Cushing, Okla., he was the son of V.E. and Thelma J. (Gower) Cates. On May 29, 1965, he married Ginger Krug in Pratt. A resident of Claflin, he was owner and operator of the 94 Store in Claflin, was a pilot for Pratt Farmers Spraying Service and was a retired commercial airline pilot. He was a Barton County Commissioner.
