James "Bradley" Kilgore, 35, died Oct. 1 at Hardtner. Born Sept. 17, 1977, at Hutchinson, he was the son of William F. and Brenda L. (Davis) Kilgore. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a hand for Clark Well Service, Medicine Lodge.
Margaret J. Krug Shomber, 90, died Oct. 3 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. She was born March 26, 1922, at Causey, N.M., the daughter of Thomas M. and Cora Mae (Clouse) Morrison. She married Gerald H. Krug on Nov. 3, 1950, at Cunningham. He died Dec. 25, 1978. She married Delbert L. Shomber on Feb. 25, 1989, at Great Bend. He died April 24, 1992. A Great Bend resident since 1945, coming from Wichita, she was a sales clerk for Sears and Lischesky's.
LARNED - Wilhelm (Bill) H. Schwartzkopf, 101, died on Oct. 1. Born Oct. 19, 1910, he was son of Philip and Mary Georg Schwartzkopf. He was born north of Alexander and lived there until he was 8 years old. He attended school in Alexander and went to Fort Hays College where he obtained his degree in business education and agriculture. His teaching career included, Johnson and Bushton, but he spent most of his time in Larned, teaching typing, business, and organizing the distributive education program involving the Larned merchants. LORRAINE - Charlie "Choc" Perkins, 81, died Sept. 29 at his home. Born Sept. 4, 1931 in Ringling, Okla., he was the son of Hosey and Eddie (Underwood) Perkins. A resident of the Lorraine area since 1945, he was a retired lead man for Ref-Chem in Bushton and a farmer and horseman. On Oct. 15, 1953, he married Elda Janzen in Lorraine. She survives.
WICHITA - Debbie Huslig, 59, died Sept. 26 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born Dec. 10, 1952 in Pratt, she was the daughter of Bernard Louis and Donna Joan "Jo" (Rose) Huslig. A resident of Wichita since 1997, coming from Great Bend, she was a baby sitter, seamstress, beauty operator and aerobics instructor. She was a devoted and loving grandmother.
John Leroy Noblitt, 61, passed away in Great Bend early on Wednesday morning, Sept. 26. Born Dec. 6, 1950 in Great Bend, he was the son of Jack and Clara (Hamrdla) Noblitt. A resident of Great Bend for the majority of his life, he attended school in Great Bend, and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1968. A United States Army veteran, John served in Vietnam. JoAnn (Frank) Herrman, 84, died on Sept. 24 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Dec. 17, 1927 in Olpe, she was the daughter of Roy Emmitt Langley and Jennie Lee Mayes. In 1945 she graduated from Emporia High School. In 1950, she married Duane Frank. He died in 1972. She then married Julius Peter Herrman in 1983. He died in 1999. A resident of Great Bend since 1973, formerly of Topeka, she was a Santa Fe Railroad train router in Topeka, a clerk at Gibson Hallmark and County Treasurer, both at Great Bend.

OSBORNE - Kenneth G. "Shorty" Hackerott, formally of Pawnee Rock, died on Feb. 28, 2015, at Parkview Care Center in Osborne. Born on July 17, 1936, in Rooks County, he was the son of Otto R. HOISINGTON - Luella "Lu" Fercking, 78, went to be with her Lord on May 10, 2015, at Hays Medical Center. Born Jan. 3, 1937, in Comanche County, at her Aunt Faye's farm house, she was the daughter of John and Lillie Cline. In 1954, she graduated from Ness City High School. On June 3, 1954, she married Robert "Ray" Fercking. He went to be with his Lord on Oct. 3, 2001. They moved to Great Bend in 1968.
