EMPORIA - Jerome Joseph Younger, 77, died Sept. 4 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia. Born on Sept. 30, 1933, in Hoisington, he was the son of Martin and Anna (Lauber) Younger. On Sept. 15, 1962, he married Barbara Redman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. She survives at the home. He attended high school at Hoisington High. Gary J. Christiansen, 63, died Sept. 3 at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita. Born Oct. 1, 1947 in Vallejo, Calif., he was the son of Gerald and Nadine (Amerine) Christiansen. On Dec. 1, 1992 he married Judy L. Green in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he was a self-employed carpet layer.
EUDORA - Jared David Axman, 21, died Sept. 3 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 14, 1990, in Great Bend, he was the son of David A. and Cynthia K. Stricker Axman. In 2011, he graduated from Lawrence Free State High School. Jared had recently become involved with Cottonwood, Inc.

Linda Marqueling, 68, died Sunday, Sept. 4, at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson. Born Aug. 26, 1943, at Fort Scott, she was the daughter of Ralph and Edna (Talbot) Whiteside.

TIMKIN – Louise Marie Besperat, 79, of Timken died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. She was born Jan. 11, 1932, in rural Bison, the daughter of Casper and Mary (Schmidt) Jacobs. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County.
ELLINWOOD - Gary D. Dannebohm, 67, died Sept. 1 at the Kansas Soldier's Home in Fort Dodge. Born May 11, 1945, in Great Bend, he was the son of Stanley Dannebohm and Lillian Irene Parker Dannebohm. A longtime resident of Ellinwood, moving to the Kansas Soldier's Home in Fort Dodge, he was a truck driver.
LIBERAL - Sharon Rose Irick, 73, passed away at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colo., surrounded by her family on Aug. 31.
LARNED - Alice Katherine Elizabeth Ebert, 94, passed away Aug. 31 at the Dallas Retirement Village, Dallas, Ore.
Gavoyn Mathew Bunch, 16 months, died Sept. 1, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born April 21, 2010 at Wichita the son of Brian Cody and Casey Reenea (Hupfer) Bunch. He was a lifetime Great Bend, Kansas resident.
OTIS - Esther Brack 98, died Aug. 31 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 17, 1912 in Otis, she was the daughter of George and Sophia (Kindsvater) Freidenberger. On April 9, 1931 she married Harry Edward Brack in Otis. He died on Jan. 21, 1984. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a nurses aid at the Rush County Memorial Hospital in LaCrosse before her retirement.
GILBERT, ARIZ. - Roy William Froetschner Jr., died Aug. 29. Roy was the second son born to Roy Sr. and Mary (Stauffer) Froetschner on Dec. 12, 1921 He graduated from Larned High School class of 1939. On Nov 22, 1961, Roy married Maggie Akers in Larned. He retired from the ASCS Office in Larned in the mid 1980s. Roy and Maggie eventually made their permanent home in Florence, Ariz.
Elden M. Kraft, 83, died Aug. 31 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 13, 1928 in rural Hodgeman County, he was the son of Carl and Matilda (Popp) Kraft. On Jan. 1, 1949 he married Laura Fairbank in Bazine. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, coming from Dodge City, he was a supervisor for Centel Electric in Great Bend until his retirement.
KANSAS CITY - Joyce K. Gunning, 64, of Kansas City, Kan. went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug. 28. Joyce was born March 12, 1947 in Cimmeron, N.M. to Delbert and Norma (Pedersen) Bisterfeldt and had lived in this area most of her life.
Reymundo Martinez, 27, passed away on Oct. 11, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on Dec. 29, 1986, in Garden City, he was the son of Martin Martinez and Lupe (Rubio) Martinez. He moved to Great Bend, at an early age and worked construction with his godfather, Arturo Escamilla.
BURWELL, NEB. - Donitta Ann Conrad, 50, of Burwell, Neb. died on Oct. 11, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Jan. 13, 1964, in Ransom, she was the daughter of Donald and Ruby (Armer) Popp. She attended elementary school at Pawnee Rock, and in 1982, graduated from Hoisington High School. WICHITA - Bashor, C. LeRoy, 74, passed away on Oct. 11. He was a proud Vietnam veteran serving 10 years in the United States Navy. Following the military he graduated Fort Hays State University with a master's degree in psychology. He was a retired school psychologist for USD 428 in Great Bend.
Nadine Dreiling, 81, died Oct. 10, at Hays Medical Center. Born June 25, 1933, in Neck City, Mo., she was the daughter of George and Vera (Sargent) Moore. On Oct. 2, 1954, she married Donald A. Dreiling in Chase. He died on Nov. 11, 2010. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, coming from Chase, she and her husband owned and operated Don's Food Mart and she retired from Dillon's Pharmacy. She loved her grandchildren and watching sports, especially the University of Kansas Jayhawks and New York Yankees.
WINFIELD - Donald M. "Don" Kline, 87, of Winfield, passed away on Oct. 11, at Cumbernauld Village. Born Aug. 29, 1927, in Wichita, he was the son of Arthur C. and Martha H. (Harris) Kline. He was raised and educated in the Marion and Great Bend areas. Don left school prior to graduation to join the United States Navy. He proudly served his country on the USS Monrovia as a Medical Corpsman from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1949. HOISINGTON - George L. Carson, 71, died Aug. 30, at Clara Barton Hospital. Born July 18, 1943 in Great Bend, he was the son of Russell and Pearl (Smith) Carson. On March 3, 1967, he married Gloria Newell in Damar. He was a graduate of Fort Hays State University. A lifetime resident of rural Barton County, he was employed by the Kansas Fish and Game Commission as a biologist.
HOISINGTON - Kirby Dean Ricke, 61, died Oct. 11, at Almost Home in Great Bend. Born July 2, 1953, in Alva, Okla., he was the son of Theodore Dean and Darlene (Huffman) Ricke. Paul E. Dyer, 84, died Oct. 8 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 20, 1930, in Great Bend, he was the son of Homer and Katherine (Jones) Dyer. On Jan. 4, 1954, he married Julitta M. Elsen, in Great Bend. She died on March 12, 1995. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.
John D. Trimmer, 65, of Great Bend and formerly of Pawnee Rock and Dundee, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born on Feb. 11, 1949, at Belleville, to George Franklin and Edna Alene (Larr) Trimmer. He graduated from Republic County Schools in 1965 and was united in marriage to Diana Levingston on June 10, 1976, at Pawnee Rock. She died on July 22, 2013. John worked as a chain hand in the oilfield prior to his retirement. He enjoyed rock collecting, watching wrestling and spending time with family.
