RAYMOND – Gladys G. Boy Starr, 82, died Dec. 5 at her Raymond residence. She was born Dec. 18, 1927, at Raymond, the daughter of Adolph and Nora Marie Gordon Boy. She married H. Allison Starr Dec. 20, 1946, at Colby. He died July 3, 1981. She was a lifetime Raymond resident and a homemaker. She graduated from Raymond High School and attended Kansas State University.

NATOMA - Dean E. Wineland, 93, of Natoma, died Dec. 4 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. Dean was born on Aug. 25, 1917, in Natoma, the son of Eugene and Louise (Miller) Wineland. DORRANCE - Leonard H. Major, 84, of Dorrance, died Dec. 4 at Hays Medical Center. Born April 12, 1926, on the family farm in Dorrance, he was the son of Henry J. and Marie (Schultz) Major. Helen Marie Weese, 80, died Dec. 3, 2010 at her Great Bend, Kansas, home. She was born June 2, 1930, at Pratt, the daughter of Lee and Mabel (Kilgore) Miller. She Married Calvin Levi Weese Oct. 24, 1948 at Pratt. He died Oct. 22, 2002. A Great Bend resident since 1955 coming from Pratt. Mrs. Weese was a Certified Medical Aide for 32 years at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Great Bend.
ERIE - William E. "Bill" George, 92, longtime Erie resident, died Dec. 2 in the emergency room of Labette Health in Parsons. He was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Erie, to Fred and Edith (Heady) George. He graduated from Erie High School in 1937, from Parsons Junior College in 1941 and from Pittsburg State University in 1941.
LARNED - Mary Elizabeth Hewson, 88, died unexpectedly at home in rural Larned, on Nov. 30. She was born on November 5, 1922 in Larned. She attended Larned schools and graduated in 1940 from Larned High School. She was a 1948 graduate of Kansas State University with a dual degree in secondary education and psychology.
Donald W. "Don" Shorock, 66, died Dec. 2, 2010 at his Great Bend home. He was born June 7, 1944 at Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of Walter and Isobel (McCutcheon) Shorock. He married Nora Jean Doubek July 4, 1976 at Pratt. She survives. A Great Bend resident since 1977, coming from Cunningham, Mr. Shorock was an employment specialist for the state of Kansas. HUTCHINSON - Marcella Angeline Stitt, 94, died Nov. 28 at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson. Born Aug. 23, 1916, in Mitchell, in Rice County, she was the daughter of Fred Nodurft and Grace Troyer Nodurft. She graduated from Sterling College and received her master's degree in Latin from the University of Kansas. On Dec. 23, 1938, she married Sam C. Stitt Jr. in Topeka. He died April 3, 1991. TOPEKA -Robert Edward Lee, 66, Topeka, died Nov. 30. Bob was born June 10, 1944, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Schubert and Loreen Martin Lee. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1962. He was employed by Kansas Gas Service Co., was a car salesman, an auctioneer, worked for Famous Brands and was an Auburn-Washburn school bus driver. Bob was an avid athlete. He played softball for many years and loved to play golf. He had a special place in his heart for his animals.

ST. JOHN - Leonard Rex Davis, 84, died Feb. 23 at Leisure Homestead, St. John. He was born Mar. 2, 1929, at Manter, the son of Earl R. and Rosa M. (Kidwell) Davis. He was a farmer/stockman and life-long resident of rural St. John.
Christy Smith, 49, died Feb. 22 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born May 22, 1964 at Travis U.S. Air Force Base Hospital in Fairfield, Calif., she was the daughter of Wendell H. and Mary (Brocher) Smith. A Great Bend resident since 1971, Christy was employed as a residential home care provider for Rosewood Services. She enjoyed animals, movies, reading, and sharing her wonderful wit and sense of humor. She particularly enjoyed helping others, always identifying with those in need.
Maxine R. Heueisen, 80, died Feb. 23 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 23, 1933 in Stafford County, she was the daughter of Earl and Jesse (Ballinger) Carr. On Nov. 26, 1955, she married Charles Heueisen in Larned. He died on April 17, 1979. A resident of Great Bend since 1997, coming from Larned. She was employed in the admissions department at Larned State Hospital, previously employed as the activities director at the Great Bend Manor and served as a case worker for the Center For Counselling. MUNJOR - Mary Ann Gross, 74, died Feb. 22, at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born Aug. 21, 1939, in Hays, she was the daughter of Ignatius and Irene (Werth) Koerner. On April 18, 1959, she married Wilbert Gross in Hays. She was a former licensed hairdresser and spent many years as a homemaker. She loved family gatherings with her children and grandchildren and the special trips she took with the love of her life, Wilbert.
