LIEBENTHAL - William W. "Bill" Legleiter, 85, of Liebenthal, passed away March 6 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. Born on Nov. 11, 1925, in rural Liebenthal, he was the son of Nick and Katie (Urban) Legleiter. He married Rita Giebler on Nov. 27, 1946, in Catharine. He was a farmer and stockman who was known to be a hard working man. He had served on the La Crosse Co-op Board and School Board and was a 4-H leader in Liebenthal.

TULSA, Okla. - George James "Jim" Eastwood, 63, was born on July 25, 1947 in Great Bend to George and Mary (Welch) Eastwood. Jim passed from this life on March 2 in Tulsa, Okla. at the age of 63.

ELLINWOOD - Judith Kay Ritchie, 69, died March 3 at the Ellinwood District Hospital. Born June 23, 1941 in Hays, she was the daughter of Roy Lafayette Bailes and Genevieve Marie Davis Bailes. In 1957, she married Aubrey Tatro at Medicine Lodge. She later married Clarence Randall Ritchie on April 29, 1961 in Medicine Lodge. He died on Dec. 30, 2007. SAN ANGELO, Texas - Tom L. Berscheidt dedicated his life to family, friends, and serving God. On Feb. 11, surrounded by many people who loved him, Tom passed away from complications associated with esophageal cancer, just 17 days before his 60th birthday. LA CROSSE - Laurene Elizabeth Marvin, 89, died March 1 at Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom. Born March 16, 1921 in Ransom, she was the daughter of Mathias Frederick and Mary Margaret (Roths) Friess. A resident of Ransom for the past 14 months, coming from La Crosse where she had lived since 1961. She was a homemaker. On Dec. 6, 1947 she married E. Leon Marvin in Wichita. He died April 10, 2004.
LARNED - Patricia L. Young, 76, died March 3 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 2, 1934 in Larned, she was the daughter of Clarence Gordon Hammond and Leora Nulf Hammond Kristufek. Moving from Rural Edwards County to Larned in 1973, she was the Administrator for Hammond Holiday Home. On Feb. 2, 1983 she married Lewis C. Young at Colorado Springs, Colo. He survives.
HUTCHINSON – Avis J. Riedel, 84, died Tuesday, March 1, at Garden City. Born Feb. 12, 1927, at Little River, she was the daughter of E. C. and Bessie (Spriggs) Miller. She married Clarence Riedel Sept. 5, 1949, at Lyons. He survives.

HOISINGTON - Lois Ilene Hoffman, 85, died Feb. 28 at Santa Fe Nursing Home in Weatherford, Texas. She was born July 11, 1925 in Norton. She was the daughter of Lovell Dodd and Pansy (Montgomery) Clinton. On Aug. 15, 1945 she married George W. Hoffman in Hoisington. He died June 1, 1986. A former longtime resident of Hoisington, she was a retired nurses aid working at Clara Barton hospital for over 30 years.
BISON – Donald P. "Don" Wood, 83, died March 1 at the Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. Born Oct. 3, 1927 in Denver, Colo., he was the son of Martin and Melinda (Sanders) Wood. A 34 year resident of Bison, moving from Larned, he worked in the dry cleaning business for more than 20 years and was employed by Essex in Hoisington for 13 years before his retirement. KANOPOLIS - Judith "Judy" Allen Bunch Maddox Schroeder, 71, Kanopolis, passed away Feb. 27. She was born in Barnard on Oct. 17, 1939, to Virgil and Fern Bunch.
Karl Lee Brack, 84, died Dec. 7, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 29, 1930, in Larned, he was the son of Sol M. and Neva M. (Toots) Brack. He was a 1948 graduate of Great Bend High School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Kansas State University in 1953. On Sept. 28, 1958, he married Loreta J. "Reta" Hill in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, Mr. Brack began work at KCKT-TV as a sales representative until February 1956, when he started work for American State Bank and Bank IV, retiring in 1991 ...
HOISINGTON - Velma H. McMillin, 90, died Dec. 4 at Via Christi Hospital, St. Francis, in Wichita. Born Jan. 20, 1924, in Melvern, she was the daughter of Oscar and Hazel (Goldsmith) Beck. On Nov. 30, 1940, she married H.D. McMillin in Ottawa. He died July 23, 1993. A resident of Hoisington since 1940, she worked as a florist for many years and she was also the co-owner of Trinkets and Treasures, an antique shop in Hoisington. She was an avid sports fan cheering for the Chiefs, Kansas University and the Green Bay Packers.
Elizabeth "Liz" Ewing Moore, 87, died Dec. 4, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Dec. 14, 1926, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of William and Jesse (Funk) Stanley. On June 14, 1947, she married Robert Gilmore Ewing in Great Bend. The later divorced. On July 11, 1992, she married Darrel Herman in Great Bend. He died on Oct. 20, 2007. A lifetime resident of Great Bend she was a cook for USD #428, a secretary for Gibson, Titus and Stafford and retired as a clerk for Centel.

HUDSON – Hilda L. Siefkes, 100, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born May 31, 1914, on the family farm, rural Hudson, she was the daughter of Carl and Lena Drach. Hilda was a lifetime resident of the Hudson Community. She was a 1932 graduate of Hudson High School. She was a homemaker, careful custodian of her home, yard and flower garden, dear mother and loving grandmother and great grandmother.
