BURDETT - Cecil Allen Coddington, 91, died Nov. 2 at his home in Emporia. Born May 22, 1919, in Cherokee, Okla., he was the son of Royal Earl and Gladys Rose Monroe Coddington. A lifetime resident of Alexander and Burdett, moving to Emporia in 2005, he was a retired farmer and self–employed electrician. On Aug. 3, 1942, he married Floy Louise Huddleston at Great Bend. She died on July 31, 2006.
Danny K. Crane, 62, of Great Bend, died Oct. 26 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. He was born Oct. 22, 1948, at Abilene, the son of Donald and Katheline (Barlow) Crane. He married Hazel Horner on Dec. 31, 1967, at Great Bend. He was publication editor for Lockheed Missiles in Space. Mr. Crane was a Great Bend resident since 1993, coming from Pleasanton, Calif.

HOISINGTON - Duane H. (Peaches) Popp, 70, died Nov. 2 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Aug. 21, 1940, in Barton County, he was the son of Herman Theodore and Esther (Steinert) Popp. On July 21, 1963, he married Cheryl A. Lane in Hoisington. A lifetime resident of the Hoisington area, he was a farmer/rancher and worked for LD Davis Drilling, was a tool pusher for Revlin and a former custodian at Roosevelt School and Middle School.

McPHERSON - Jimmy Raybern, 44, died Nov. 1 at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. He was born May 31, 1966, at Great Bend, the son of Sam and Lora (Boatman) Raybern. He married CArla Scheuerman on June 12, 1993, at Great Bend. He worked for Mid States Supply, McPherson, as a warehouse foreman. He was a McPherson resident for seven years, coming from Great Bend.
PAWNEE ROCK - Shirley L. Arnel, 70, of Pawnee Rock, died Oct. 13 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Shirley L. Gabbert on Nov. 6, 1939, in Waco, Texas.
GLENMORA, La. - Champion Ray "Butch" McNett, 40, formerly of Great Bend, entered eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 24, at his Glenmora, La., residence. He was born June 17, 1970, in Salina, to the unionof Champion Fredrick McNett and Marie Alice McNett. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, coach and friend. He was one of the biggest Dallas Cowboys football fans. He loved coaching his sons in football and baseball. He also loved hunting, fishing, and car racing, and was a drummer at heart.
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - William Harold Clark Sr., 86, passed away on Oct. 30 at Providence Medical Center. Born May 10, 1924, in Kansas City, he was the son of William R. and Lucy (Holmes) Clark. He married Theresa Kratofil on April 24, 1948, and they had three children. He was a machine operator at Westvaco, retiring in 1987,

ELLSWORTH - Carmen R. Munguia, 89, died Oct. 31 at Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth. She was born Oct. 8, 1921, at El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Edurado and Refugio (Jimeniz) Rousett. She married Ramon Munguia on May 1, 1948, at El Paso, Texas. He died June 1, 2008. A homemaker, she was an Ellsworth resident for the past seven years, coming from Lorraine.
GREENWOOD, Ark. - Jerry L. Hedrick, 73, of Greenwood, Ark., went home to be with his Lord, Oct. 29 in a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital. He was born May 17, 1937, in Coffeyville, and was a businessman and truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and feeding local wildlife.

PAULS VALLEY, Okla. - Darrell C. Mayhew, 76, of Pauls Valley, Okla., passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, on Oct. 28. He was born May 25, 1934, in Plainville, Kan., to Chalmer and Ann (Cerrow) Mayhew. He married Beverly (Collis) Mayhew on April 20, 1957 in El Paso, Texas. Darrell served in the U.S. Army in Fort Bliss, Texas, 1956-1957, serving two TDY tours in Puerto Rico, in 1957-1958. After an honorable discharge he worked in the oilfield supply business. Norma M. Vasquez, 70, of Great Bend, died Oct. 27 at her home. She was born April 17, 1940, at Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Victorio and Manuela (Alonzo) Moreno. Norma worked as a seamstress. Mrs. Vasquez was a Great Bend resident since 1999, coming from Ontario, Calif.

James A. Norvell, 91, of Great Bend, died Sunday morning in Bartlesville, Okla. James spent his last few months at his son Brian's Bartlesville home. James Alfred Norvell was born the son of Ross and Georgie Fry Norvell on Sept. 14, 1922, in Piney, Ark. He grew up in various places until entering the United States Navy during World War II. PRATT - Laura Viola "Vi" Wagner, 79, died July 6, at South Wind Hospice in Pratt. Born Sept. 1, 1934, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Cash and Nellie Doty. On Jan. 30, 1959, she married Theodore (Nubbin) Heiter at Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death. She later married Bruce Wagner on May 23, 1986. He survives. She worked as a clerk at Crick's and also cooked for USD 382 and Pratt Regional Medical Center for a number of years. Her family was her passion.
FREDONIA - Tom Stephen Welton, 67, a resident of Fredonia, formerly of Hoisington, and El Dorado, died July 5, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Born Aug. 7, 1946, in Great Bend, he was the son of Donald E. and Mable (Roche) Welton. Tom was a graduate of Hoisington High School and received a bachelor's degree from Emporia State University. He was a retired office manager for Automotive Specialists in El Dorado.
