ALEXANDER - Surrounded by loved ones, Darrell Gene Bradshaw passed away at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City on Sept. 5, 2016, after a sudden heart attack in June and a battle with undiagnosed cancer. Darrell was the fourth child born to Elgin and Mary (Butler) Bradshaw in Big Spring, Texas. He moved to Kansas at the age of 12 years where he remained, graduating from Great Bend High School. ELLINWOOD - Pauline Musenbrock, 92, passed away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood on Sept. 3, 2016. She was born on Aug. 14, 1924 in New York. She was a lifetime Great Bend resident formerly of New York. She tended bar in Great Bend at the Knights of Columbus Hall and the Elk Lodge.
ALBERT - Alvin K. Schettler, 86, died Sept. 6, 2016, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 30, 1930, at Stoughton, Saskatchewan, Canada, he was the son of the Rev. Kurt G. and Louise (Schempp) Schettler. On Oct. 19, 1952, he married Janet Read at Belgrade, Neb. An Albert resident since 1965, Mr. Schettler was a Booster Station Plant Operator for Natural Gas Pipeline Company and retired from Occidental Petroleum in 1996.
Memorial services for Delores R. Ochs, 91, who died Aug. 22, 2016, at her home in Great Bend, and her son Duane A. Ochs, 60, who died July 27, 2016 at Miami, Fla., will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. Barbara Jones officiating.
HOISINGTON - Aaron C. "Nick" Nicholas, 46, died Sept. 1, 2016 at his home in Hoisington. He was born April 18, 1970, in Salina, the son of Marion and Jeannie Thornton Nicholas. Aaron graduated from Hoisington High School as a member of the class of 1989. He graduated from Phoenix Vo-Tech for Heating and Air. He also attended Barton County Community College. He was member of New Life Baptist Church.
STAFFORD – Doris E. (Clair) Witt, 84, passed away Sept. 1, 2016 at Stafford. Born June 3, 1932 at St. Rose Hospital, Great Bend, she was the daughter of Walter Clair and Lois Heyen Clair. On Dec. 14, 1950 she married Vernon Witt at Gainsville, Texas. Doris and Vernon had two children: Debra J. (Witt) Newell and Kim V. Witt.
DERBY - Larry D. Hart, 66, died at his home Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016. He was born March 3, 1950, to Otis and Ruby (Henning) Hart in Great Bend. After graduating from Great Bend High School in 1968, Larry attended Sterling College where he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology. He later earned his master's degree in Counseling from Pittsburg State University where he met and married Sandy Stroup on May 25, 1974. Larry and Sandy moved to Dodge City, where he was a counselor for Vocation Rehabilitation Services.
LEAWOOD - Marjorie "Marj" Christopher, 94, died Aug. 30, 2016, at Grace of Leawood Assisted Living Facility. She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in rural Hoisington, the daughter of Roy E. and Emma W. (Beetz) Underwood.
LARNED - Shelbi Paige Werner, 29, passed away Aug. 28, 2016, peacefully at home while battling a long courageous fight with diabetes. She was born April 17, 1987, in Kingman, the daughter of Michael S. and Teri L. Denton Werner. She was a fun loving person with an easy going attitude and had an infectious laugh that could brighten anyone's day. She was a free spirit and loved her family and friends beyond words. NEWTON - Ann E. Musser, 50, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Via Christi Saint Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Nov. 17, 1965 at Great Bend, daughter of Victor F. and Evelyn (Johanning) Hoffman. She married Todd A. Musser on July 10, 2004 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Hoisington.
BETHANY, Okla. - Terry Lee Riddle, 38, died Aug. 27, 2016, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born Jan. 8, 1978, at Phoenix, Ariz., the son of Ron and Shannon (Pound) DeHaan. He was a 1996 graduate of Macksville High School. He enjoyed playing football and running track, especially hurdles, at Macksville and ran in the AAU Nationals at Rochester, Minn. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with family. Terry was previously employed by Fuller Brush, Devine Masonry and Chase Well Service, all of Great Bend; and Key Energy of Oklahoma City, Okla.
HOXIE - C. Carl Gaede, 87, died Aug. 26, 2016, in Quinter. Born Aug. 17, 1929, in Hoxie, he was the son of Christian (Chris) E. and Amanda M. (Brandhorst) Gaede. On April 5, 1953, he married Arleda Ehlers at the Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma, Okla. He was a farmer/stockman.
