Bernie Lucille Linenberger, 90, died May 6, 2016, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. Born June 19, 1925, in Olmitz, she was the daughter of Erwin and Mary (Schugart) Schneider. On May 12, 1948, she married Paul Joseph Linenberger in Olmitz. He died on may 21, 2013. A Great Bend resident since 1943, coming from Olmitz, she was a registered nurse, working in OB at St. Rose Hospital and later at Central Kansas Medical Center. She then worked for Dr. Anol W. Beahm.
TOPEKA - Donna Joann (West) Strobel, 83, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2016, at home in Topeka after battling cancer. As a registered nurse, she enjoyed her career caring for others at Larned State Hospital and KNI.
HOISINGTON - Jamie B. Moeder, 50, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2016, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. Born on Sept. 26, 1965, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Leo (Red) and Marge Moeder. She grew up as the youngest of four girls and attended school in Claflin.
ROZEL - Nelson Lee Warren, 88, passed away May 2, 2016, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born May 9, 1927, in Pryor, Okla., he was the son of Samuel and Maude Warren. On June 15, 1952, he married Donna M. Thompson in Great Bend. She survives. A longtime area resident of Larned, he was a night foreman/machinist welder at Justice Supply Machine Shop in Farmington, N.M.
PALM COAST, Fla. - Judy K. Sullivan died on May 1, 2016. Judy was born in Wichita then moved to the Palm Coast, Fla., area in 2003 from Roswell, Ga. She loved to breed, raise and finish American boxer dogs. She had won seven championships with her dogs. She also loved to play golf.
Antonio Castro Salazar, 51, passed away on April 30, 2016, at Great Bend Regional Hospital after a sudden illness. Born on April 17, 1965, at Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, he was the son of Adolfo Castro Vasquez and Antonia Salazar. On April 27, 1997, he was united in marriage to Raquel Urias in Santa Ana, Calif. He moved with his family to Great Bend in July of 2010. Antonio worked for Red Barn Pet Products in Great Bend for the past four years.
John married Carol Herrman Danielson August 7, 2005 at Colorado Springs, Colo. Mr. Murphy was a Great Bend resident, and proudly served his country, from 1964-1974, in the U.S. Marine Corp, 3rd Marine Division, during the Vietnam era, earning three purple hearts through the course of three tours of duty.
Marion L. "Pops" Dutton, 81, died April 30, 2016, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 24, 1935, in Hagerman, Texas, he was the son of Otto E. and Marge (Crawford) Dutton. A resident of Great Bend since 1952, coming from Sadler, Texas, he was a driller for Geo Search. He enjoyed cars.
