BUSHTON - Patricia Carlene Rolfs, 59, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatitis, with her husband, sons, and a host of close family at her side. She was born Oct. 7, 1954 in Ellsworth Co. to Carl and Velma Louise (Cruth) Hoelscher.
Dorothy "Dot" Burt, 97, died Nov. 15 at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson. She was born August 19, 1916, in Navarre, the daughter of Harvey Gamon and Emma (Rhodes) Wingerd. Dorothy graduated from Chapman High School 1934 and then Emporia State College in 1939, where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha.
MACKSVILLE - Rafaela Chavez de Lopez, age 75, passed away Nov. 13 at Leisure Homestead, St. John. She was born Oct. 24, 1938, at Villa Matamoros Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco Chavez and Maria del Refugio Soltero.
OLATHE -Dorothy Evelyn (Winter) Dowse passed away Nov. 12. A visitation and celebration of life service will be held at the Claflin United Methodist Church Friday. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. with the service following.
Lenora M. "Foots" Matney, 79, of Great Bend and formerly of Pawnee Rock passed away on Monday afternoon, Nov. 11 at her home in Great Bend. Lenora was born on April 11, 1934 at Boise City, Okla. to Lewis F. and Geneva May (Merwin) Raybern. She spent the earlier part of her life in the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles, except for the eight years they lived in Pueblo, Colo. Lenora moved to Great Bend from the Texas panhandle in 1967.
LARNED - Leon Shearrer, 72, died Nov. 10, 2013 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 29, 1941, in Wagner, Okla., he was the son of David Fred and Edna Witt Shearrer. On June 10, 1962, he married Virginia Swartz at Macksville. She died on June 5, 2006.
OAKLEY - Galyn F. Crossley, 83, died Nov. 2 in Hays. Born June 27, 1930, in Great Bend, he was the son of Arden and Darlene (Baumgartner) Crossley. On June 5, 1955, he married Naomi Ruth Gaskill in Wellington. His banking career began in Hoisington as vice president of a Hoisington bank. In 1972, he was employed at The Farmers State Bank in Oakley, where he served as senior vice president, CEO and then as president.
