FORT DAVIS, Texas - Charles Bruce Colvin, 69, died April 23 at Lubbock, Texas. He was born July 10, 1943, at Great Bend, the son of William Bear and Norma Lee Harold Colvin. His stepfather was W.M. Colvin.
HUTCHINSON - Victor W. Krebaum, 75, died April 25. He was born Sept. 11, 1937, at Great Bend, the son of Raymond A. and Mable M. Ward Krebaum. He graduated from Great Bend High School, and attended Hutchinson Community College and the University of Kansas. On Dec. 20, 1959, he married Reita Jane Krey, living in Houston and Ft. Worth, Texas, before returning to Kansas in 1962. Following his marriage, he began a successful career of nearly 50 years as an insurance agent, receiving numerous awards, retiring in 2009.
NESS CITY - Rosalinda C. Gaschler, 89, passed away April 21, at the Hays Medical Center. Born on Jan. 3, 1924 in Ness County, she was the daughter of John and Anna Mary Haas Wasinger. On Aug. 19, 1946 she married Carl Gaschler in Ness City. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1984. She worked with her husband at Gaschler Jewelry.
LARNED - W. Max Howard, 82, died April 17 at Country Place Senior Living in Larned. Born July 28, 1930 in Jewell County, he was the son of Wilbur Frank and Elise Parson Howard Murphy. A lifetime area resident, he was the owner and operator of the Best Western Motel in Larned. On March 8, 1949, he married Faith Kimbrough in Hiawatha. She died on Dec. 13, 1981. On Oct. 30, 1982, He married Alice Larson in Salina. She survives.
PAWNEE ROCK - Charles Wilbur Russell, 90, died April 14 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born Nov. 17, 1922 in Carroll County, Mo., he was the son of Charles Walter and Lena (Adcock) Russell. On Sept. 6, 1942, he married Berdene Lou (Glaze) in Larned. She preceded him in death. A Pawnee Rock resident from 1959 to 2009, he was a 37 year civil servant for the U.S. Army Reserves.
Kenneth D. "Ken" Williams, 74, died on April 13 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Feb. 14, 1939 in Stephenville, Texas, he was the son of Myrl and Ruth (Onions) Williams. On Aug. 15, 1959 he married Nancy Giebler in Hays. She survives. Growing up in Liberal, he was a Great Bend resident since 1963, coming from Hays. He served as the C.F.O. for Central Kansas Medical Center for twenty years, retiring in 1988. CHERRYVALE - Walter Frank Eilts, 74, Cherryvale, died on April 8. Born in Rush County on March 14, 1939, he was the son of Edward and Anna Eilts. In 1957 he graduated from Great Bend High School. He attended Salt City Business College. On Aug. 4, 1961, he married Phyllis Chapham.
